Double Positive Binding Angles on Korua Shapes Pencil

Спорт

It's a wet one out there, with a side order of chunky snow. As you know, here is Whistler we love a good rain storm on the mountain early January. The optomistic ones out there were hoping the freezing level would stay low and today would be one of the deepest and best powder days of the year, maybe a little too optimistic...
Sadly, despite our best efforts the rain overcame and didn't stop all day. I had one day to ride the Korua Shapes Pencil; one of their flagship boards. Their float camber has camber until just in front of the front binding and rocker nose, giving great hold in carves and helping give Korua their reputation as carving machines. Considering the conditions it seemed like a great idea to try something I haven't done in many, many years... Riding double positive board angles, or euro style.
Front foot +24 back foot +9
Bindings were set central in recommended stance width, riding now drive bindings and 32 TM-2 boots.
First Impressions:
Initially felt a little weird and good to remember what the board setup was, but after a minute or so started to get used to feel. It's important to try different timing and weight distribution on the turns to understand what works and what doesn't .
Midday:
After a few laps got a better feel for the snow and able to get a bit more aggressive. Noticeable less back leg ache from trying to be aggressive throughout the turns compared to more duck stance.
End of Day:
Very happy with going double positive today, fun way to mix up the day and try something different on the snowboard. Would be great to try this out on a "proper" powder day.
Have you tried riding double posi? How did you enjoy the experience?

having just bought a pencil, i am enjoying the posi/posi life. It certainly is a different feel the first couple of turns but i love the ability to pivot the back knee much more easily. Watching old craig kelly videos, it gave me a lot more understanding how he could keep so forward facing through his turns.

I have found I keep going more posi, and narrower, and carving just gets easier. For groomers I’m running +30 / +12 with the bindings slammed as narrow as I can get them, 18”, on a 156 Dart +.

I was just adjusting my stance. +36/+27 and narrowed up my stance to 19". Great for carving, powder and general mountain snow surfing.

I tried riding positive/positive on my powder board years ago and it just felt weird. I even tried positive/0 and it still felt weird. But I might have to give it another go just to see if makes the rear leg burn feel less so.

I was a similar story. If it’s been a while I’d say try it again. Get a nice asymmetrical board, I think that made a noticeable difference for me.

One of the main things I've noticed with people who think it feels weird, other than simply being different than what they're used to, is they retain the "square" posture like they had been riding with a duck stance (shoulders more in line from tip to tail). With forward angles, you need to open your body/posture more toward the nose, and then things will start to align. It's most obvious in the rear leg, in my opinion, as that's the main stance difference. Like someone else mentioned, watch a few videos of Craig Kelly for great visuals and inspiration.

i always ride with positive angle (+18/+3), when i was beginner, i've try many angles but I very quickly chose positive angles, my knees thank me 🤣🤣. I never do freestyle in the park, and that doesn't stop me from doing switch. But at the beginning it remains disturbing 😅😂

Little mellower, less quick snap back. I put it down to the tf tail, it’s real stiff and adds quickness to ollies and carving. My tf is a 58. Smoother feel on the pencil
