Double Pivot Drill to Create a Powerful Punch

Спорт

Double Pivot Drill to Create a Powerful Punch. Double Pivot Drill to Create a Powerful Punch. Tom Yankello of the ‪@WorldClassBoxingChannel‬ presents a pad work drill that Tom refers to as the double pivot drill. You will first throw a one two hook, then pivot to your right so that you can set up the left hook as you recoil your first left hook, then throw a right hand, then pivot back to set up the right hand. The pivots help create momentum for the release of a more powerful punch. You are pivoting both times on your lead foot. Each time you pivot, you get in the heel toe stance. Tom breaks down where your head should be as you are throwing the punches.

    What you said about following the first pivot with another left hook and the second with another right is awesome. It feels so natural because you are already positioned. No wasted motion, time, energy or posture. You are the Man!

    You can also do the counterclockwise pivot when you miss too. For example,if you throw a 1-2 and your opponent slips the shots and pivot. You then do the counterclockwise pivot to reset. Great video. Thank you so much.

    Great stuff. The only thing I would be concerned about is after Danny throws the shot then pivots right.. if the opponent stays where he was and Dosent pivot right or left, I see Danny running into a right hand hook or something like that would ya think so? Gotta be careful not to take your eyes off him after the pivot and not give him a side shot know what I mean? Otherwise if the opponent does turn then that whole deal might turn out great!

    Is Danny fighting? He has great technique. One question, the pivot is happening when the opponent is shifting in the direction of the pivot. It’s a nice way to cut off a side movement. How does the pivot change when the opponent stays centered or moves to the other side?

    Do you step to pivot? Or do you just pivot? Or is it based on the situations

  • @donyalerobinson3874

    @donyalerobinson3874

    3 жыл бұрын

    It just depends on the situation as always these drills and techniques are based on timing and what your opponent gives you( openings) . Moreover it depends on the angle your at and how fluent you are at pivoting. If beginner then I suggest moving your lead foot 1 or 2 inches to help perform the pivoting motion. Advanced should be able to create the turning momentum with your hips and feet flat. Ultimately either way is effective and just depends on what your comfortable with. Hope this answers your question 🙏
