Organic Chemistry on Khan Academy: Carbon can form covalent bonds with itself and other elements to create a mind-boggling array of structures. In organic chemistry, we will learn about the reactions chemists use to synthesize crazy carbon based structures, as well as the analytical methods to characterize them. We will also think about how those reactions are occurring on a molecular level with reaction mechanisms. Simply put, organic chemistry is like building with molecular Legos. Let's make some beautiful organic molecules!
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.
For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything

It took me pausing the video and just staring at the newman structure for 8 mins until it finally clicked. Finally have a grasp on this stuff.
I think this is one of those things where you have to stare at it until it "clicks." I get the concept, it's just the visualization and getting used to it.
I've spent so long trying to figure this out and this video finally make it click. Thank you!!!
we just went over it in class today and I got it...but this just made it look so much better...its art really.....thank you for explantions
You saved me in Gen Chem 1 & 2...now in O Chem! Much love!
Thank God I found this, I have an exam thursday and I had no Idea how to do these.
This stuff, I don't really understand it at the moment, but this is the type of field I strive to learn more about and probably get a profession in. This stuff is so fascinating....just the pure concept and functionality of it all.

So, did ya make it happen?
thank you very much..excellent explanation
Really simplified and quatlityful of learning.
✨Wonderful explanation
OMG! I GET IT! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I HAVE MY OCHE MIDTERM IN FOUR DAYS AND THIS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!
Thank you. You are really in the life-saving-business.
Thank you so much
how do you know so much?? simply amazing.
Tks MR sal
thank you. very nice
Thank you
I seldom write my opinion about these educational videos but this one is excellent. It is not easy to visualize those 3D molecules on a piece of paper sheet.

You guys should consider doing teachers workshops or something, they could learn alot from you. For going on 3 weeks of class I've been dreading this upcoming test because this shit confuses the hell out of me. But with these videos, I feel I have some hope
true said !!
omg so puzzling! but i think i understand a bit now one qn though, how would u know which c-c bond to look at for newman projection? why C1-C2 and not of other combination?

+Sophia henry It really doesn't matter -- you can draw any one you'd like -- but you want to look for one that includes the CH3 group as one of its substituents. Sal actually draws the C1-C2 eclipse, but also the C4-C5 eclipse because those carbons are not connected to the C1-C2 bond!
For the second ring, why carbon 5?
how are you supposed to know where to bond the H atoms? like how do you specifically know that you have to have the axial and equatorial orientation?
but if you're flipping it upside-down the methane is going to remain axial, no?
This is better than re-reading a book.
is the anti the same name of staggered ?
i like listening to Sal before i have an exam, even if i know the particular topic. His voice is very calming and encouraging. No homo.
really why cant professors make it as easy as you do? arigato, dhonnobad, shukriya, abhar, gracias, thank you!
I'm in the empire business!
i . love . you .

Is this o chem or art class?? 😅😅
13:25 it's not configuration. It's confirmation. Thank you.

Conformation to be precise
Shouldn't this video be named "Double Newman Diagram for MethYLcyclohexane? Probably...
Anyone from India jee advanced??
