Im not normally one for cosmetics but having the windows fitted really has transformed the look of the boat.

TIP: Get those protective stickers off ASAP. Once exposed to UV light they start degrading and amalgamating with the window frames. At best they leave a shadow of the text on the white upvc, at worst the tape is impossible to remove.

Windows look grand, a bit of hard work, but it paid off. Plus, with the boat being moved, you now have a proper spot right by the road. It doesn’t get any better than that. Glad to see the two of you back. Now a thousand more things to do! Cheers.👍👍👍👍

There are a couple of reasons your boat could have been moved, the first is that the mooring pins pulled out of the bank with all the rain we have been having, or it was moored over the Weir Crest as detailed on the no mooring sign, then the CRT could have moved it.

Steel moves with temp, so when you put in windows when it is cool and it is tight you might have some problems when it is hot, the windows may crack or not operate. Make sure there is a gap all the way around the window. Good Luck.

If the steel expands faster than the PVC they won’t have a problem. The steel holes get bigger the hotter it gets.

@@markcarrington8565 So no matter how they fail I am sure the warranty will be null and void for the simple facts they were not installed to spec and it is on KZread. If you have to pound them in. Not to be mean just stating facts on how it is. Plus since it is a riveted shell depending on how close the opening is to the joint the full plate will push to the line of least resistance when it expands. Seen it working on riveted plates.

Sikoflex is the best sealant for anything Boaty,it is waterproof and works like the best glue ever. Windows do look awesome and you will definitely find the benefits of double glazed windows, more efficient and less noise pollution when you are residing in the Boat. Seeing as you are currently away from the boat a lot it might be a good idea to get some sort of window covers ( anti-vandal ),I would hope that you don’t need them but you just never know these days ?. Bit strange that the Boat was moved ? But someone pinching a pin is a bit nawty, you would think that a fellow narrow boater wouldn’t take one but ???. Another great video with great enthusiasm ❤

Noooo!!! Grind the cabin top slightly to accommodate the he screws….there may 😳come a time when you need to repair the window!!! You should have the window frames fit the openings freely, if too tight they can break if the boat flex’s. Such as some one colliding into the boat.

Make sure to go around inside and cut metal where it touches the plastic frame, carefully cover the plastict from from metal shards, they will leave irritating rustmarks, then paint the bare metal on the edges. then put proper paint on the inside before finally securing the frames on each edge with Brackets using small crews into plastic frame. The windows will then be secure, can't be removed from the outside or pushed out by the wind. That will leave space to have insulation right up to the edge of the frame and to a resonable depth, so you don't leave a thermal bridge. Insulation boards, will give you a much better insulation value than sprayfoam. Glass fibre insulation can be used to fill small voids, once it's thoroughly prepared, primed and overcoated. Doing the insulation in airtight sections is wise, you don't want damp air seeping into the space, as that will condense and invetably result in rust. Indeed, design the interior framing and lining so that the you can retain the integrity of insulation all around by fitting some suitable membrane. Make sure you have good insulation under the floors too, where you have removable sections of floor design it with multiple air tight seals. You may want to install adjustable heating and ventilation conduits in the floors in the design before designing the frames. Definitely install good extraction systems in the galley and shower areas to avoid getting the boat damp, a tumble dryer is well worth it too even if you need to top up electrcity from secondary sources. Make space for a technical room for tool storage, a place to fix things, keep spares. A cupboard for recreational equipment saves alot of arguments, a drying cupboard near the door, ensures outdoor clothing, dampness can be vented directly outdoors. Perhaps you have enough height to elevate a section of floor to provide decent storage, tankage, folding bikes and improve the daylight and views.

How about getting a Hunters type camera, and placing it in a near by tree, aimed at your boat for when you're not there. That way anyone tampering with your boat can been seen. Also, when you're on the move in the boat, you can take it with you and do the same thing. No one, especially thieves, won't suspect a camera in a nearby tree, lol

It was pointed out by another that there were no guards for the pillars for the bridge as there are on other cross water bridges. Had there been some it could have prevented that vessel from knocking down the Key bridge. As always hind sight seems to be near 20/20. I had noticed that they were missing once I got a daylight view of the bridge and supports. It is sad that so many lost their lives in the collapse. It will be hard on their families.

Great job and one question. How are you clipping the windows in from the inside so they don't pop out or someone can force them out and gain entrance to the boat? Suggest steel straps that are welded to the inside of the hull and then bolted into the window frame. Your sealing compound will deteriorate over time and won't hold the windows.

Most likely she came adrift due to poor mooring,I think you're a bit optimistic using a single pin at the bow and stern for such a large boat. When using pins put a second pin through the eye at an angle to help prevent them pulling out. Best of all is to use chains through the armco where available.👍

🎉🍸Congratulations!🍺🎉 I’ve gotta say though, I cringed every time a window was kicked or hit with the rubber mallet, no matter how gently it may have been. All boats, ships, etc flex and twist to some degree. As these windows are secured with adhesive sealant, there really should be a gap between the hull and the window frame and the bulkhead, filled in with squeeze out from the trim lip. One question, does the adhesive / sealant properly adhere to PVC?

I like the look of the windows, nice choice. Are you using any type of mechanical fasteners in addition to the adhesive sealant to hold them in place?

Thanks Beaglefanatic , Yes that's the plan when we start to fit out the interior, we just put the windows in now so we can try get it water tight

Just to add what others have said, the metal will expand a lot more than the plastic so on the next set of windows grid the metal till you have a small gap for the expansion. is that sealer paintable? if not you might have just given yourselves another problem 😞

I hope you get to the bottom of why someone has moved your boat. I would not accept this as ok because next your boat may be moved again but good job guys
