Just to be pedantic, the Double Footrope knot (ABoK# 697) and the Double Diamond knot (ABoK# 748) are two different knots.

Yes you are correct, but I also called it the Diamond Knot in the title so that people would recognise that it may be a knot they want to learn. I will pin your post to the tope for others to see.

The crown knot goes anticlockwise wise and the wall goes clockwise..the foot rope and the diamond knot are the same knots inside out.if you tie a single footrope knot and then roll the crown down over the wall you will have a diamond knot.

To be honest, when I first started I mainly used Des Pawson's book: amzn.to/2f4TzwP I have always had a copy of Ashley's Book of Knots, but in the early days I never really used it, as I found it to be rather complicated. In this Playlist are the main books that I referred to kzread.info/head/PL7nysDkNnZHfhD_Q8XgUjYQwr1PC1RCMW In the earlier days I would also surf the net for inspiration and try and work out how certain projects were done. Are you just starting out in the world of knotting?

i wouldn't say 'just starting' but still a relative newcomer. youtube is my primary source for learning to tie. I have a lot of knot books but they are focused on working knots. I was wondering about cordage and rope that you use. Paracord is nice but a bit lacking in authenticity. any suggestions for were to get good cordage?

hi Johnny. love the videos. when ever I the this knot (and the manrope knot as well) following your video it comes out fine. but when I try and tie it from memory I wind up with 2 working ends coming out of the same hole. what am I doing wrong (the mistake is somewhere after the crown/wall combination, and I'm tying a 6-strand variation)

Yes, I too struggled with this one. I had to do it over and over again, even now I sometimes have to think really hard about which way to go. Decorative knot work can be such a frustrating hobby!!

Johnny Debt I think I have it sussed. If I hold the working ends in my other hand after I've threaded them through it makes it easier to keep track of which one I've tied and which one is next

@@KnottingKnots Done but embarrassed to put it up there with all those wonderful examples. Failed at the end tucking the final 4 crowned strands into the diamond knot but I couldn't have got that far without your videos.

@@caahacky Please do not be embarrassed, my early work is awful, To be honest, you have taken on quite a challenge and done exceptionally well!! Do not throw it away, keep it. I hang my early work on my Ditty Bag, just to remind me how far I have come. Have you got a copy of Des's book, on Knotting Projects, I found that very useful in the early days. If not, I can post a link on here?

I personally got my tools from a guy in the States who makes them. If you do a search for EDC Spikes or Tools, you will find that a lot of people do them now.

I was watching one of your videos that you used a book by des pawson where you made this knot but you called it a diamond knot but you might know that he trades under the name of footrope knots but when he makes one he calls it a diamond knot.

You believe a wall knot is an upside down crown ,but this is not correct ,a footrope knot is a partly inverted diamond knot ,a wall knot is a completely inverted crown knot or visa versa ,not upside down but inside out.
