This game is exactly the reason Anne Sargent should not be a commentator. "Hold up Furhman, HOLD UP!" , "Have you ever seen a more welcomed stepping call" She's commentating as a coach not as an expert. It's fine to have a wee bit of bias, it's to be expected. She is an embarrassment.

Anyway it was a BEAUTIFUL last shot.... the look on the faces are just priceless

And was filmed for Australian tv coverage. Nz coverage has it's own commentors. But this is typical aussie behavior against nz. And such sore losers as always

Catherine Cox for gold! Nekk minnit ... I love how McMahon hobbled pathetically off the court with what looked like a minor ankle knock and our injured players (fingers, knees, feet) stayed on to battle it out. We truly deserved the gold medal.

They are currently tied at 1st place in the INA rankings. When teams of such calibre play off like this, it makes you wanna watch them to the end. Right now, Jamaica's netball need to take a leaf out of what these players has done and start building.

Luke Darcy and Liz Ellis compliment each other. He is a professional commentator and Liz has an all-round knowledge of the game. Like a professional shoud, he keeps the ebb and flow of a game whils Liz points out the finer intricacies. I want a commentator to take me with them on these highs and lows and not keep me on a level plateau with a tedious relatively unchanged monotone. Where are these people hiding in NZ???

Liz wasn't the commentator of this game, Anne was. I think Liz works for a different network. Fox Sport was the network providing the coverage of this video.

loved watching these two teams last year live but it would have been better if we all could have settled down as it is just a game but everyone wants to win just make sure it's in the right term go silver ferns

There is country loyalty and just plain disgusting one eyed commentating! This Australian female (and to a degree the male) commentator is just so biased it's unreal! Jesus man take the patch off and watch the game!

The female commentator's name is Anne Sargent (i think that's how you spell her surname). She was a former Australian GA from the 1980s Not sure about the male commentator though. It doesnt matter what the sport is Australian commentators always wear rose tinted glasses.

Jennifer Loveridge I see where your coming from but as a commentator u can't have a biased attitude,your job is to comment on the game not to let your biased views be known, but i guess if its only for the Australian public it doesn't matter.

The commonwealth are for countries belonging to the commonwealth. If ur country is run by a president ie USA or have their own monarchy ie Tonga u cannot compete in the games. All these countries are under the British monarchy therefore we are in the commonwealth

You're right about USA. But... Tonga is still a member state of the commonwealth despite having their own constitutional monarchy and head of state, so is Malaysia and Lesotho (Brunei too I believe) and they still compete in the games. Among other things, you basically just have to accept the Queen as "Head of the Commonwealth" to be a member, it's purely symbolic. TLDR; You can still have your own monarchy and be a member and compete.

Ok so can they not jump?? And why do the defenders step aside and allow them to shoot it

Because you have to be 3 feet away from the shooter to be able to defend the shot. Plus in some instances the defenders have committed an infringement and have to stand down.

Commentator : Could you have asked more from them? Me : Yes Commentator: Could you hope for more for them? Me: Absolutely Not

Why can't other countries, such as the USA and Russia, compete in the Commonwealth games? In the Olympics every country is encouraged to participate, but not here. Maybe one day this tournament and the Asian games will be combined with the Olympics to form a mega tournament; with a greater variety of events and stronger competition!

Well it's only countries part that are part of the Commonwealth (formerly the British Empire) that can play in the Commonwealth Games. That's why the USA and Russia can't participate.

So you're real question should be "Why isn't Netball in the Olympics?". There's only so many sports/games in the world you can reasonably schedule in a limited amount of time/venue space and still make them financially viable. Also there's only about five countries that are really competitive in this sport. US and Russian tall women play basketball (rather than netball) because there's more money in it! Biased commentary sucks for viewers in any sport.

why should it be Australian commentary to be honest it should be both countries otherwise New Zealanders have the right to call the commentary biase because it is. Anne Sergant, Liz Ellie worse commentators we know they're Aussie's, no need to make it clear on tv with the support. It was a great match glad the silver ferns won we'l definitely make a hattrick in Glasgow. It's funny how the neutrel grounds in the world favour NZ in netball in any tournament poor aussie's
