Hi Andy, thank you for sharing this awesome video. 1.10 - 1.20 is my favourite part! Have you slept outside with the SOL Escape Bivvy bag? If so, is it waterproof? Would you be happy to spend a night out in the Tararua rain with this bag? Keep up the good work with your videos, they're always thoroughly enjoyable to watch (especially the Tararua videos). Cheers, Mark

Thanks Mark, that view looking up Peggy's is cool. I have slept outside with the sol escape, it is waterproof. I wouldn't plan to use it on a rainy night but it would keep you alive. Where is your favorite part of the Tararua range?

@@AndyCarruthers62 My favourite section is between Ruapae & Pukemoremore. My favourite peak is Arete (the view down the Park Valley is awesome, also I experienced a stunning sunrise on top of Arete in Feb during a sub 48hr S-K attempt). Mt Hector under clear skies comes a close second. Favourite hut is Dorset Ridge. 2nd: Neill Forks, 3rd Andersons Memorial (it's in a nice location and it provided refuge during a particularly nasty storm - winter 2014). I asked about your bivvy bag as my mate and I carried too much gear on our S-K attempt, which caused us to bail out at Junction Knob then out to Otaki Forks. So this summer the sleeping bag is staying at home. Just the liner & SOL Escape Bivvy bag.

@@markanderson1339 That view down Park Valley is very special, we had a nice view looking up it from Dorset. I haven't been to Neill Forks yet, looking forward to spending a night there. That S-K route is tough, it took me 3 attempts, this report has the gear we carried greatwalkadventures.com/2019/12/27/sk-main-range-2019-report/ I had a 2 hour sleep at Kime in my SOL, it is great for huts in Summer.

@@AndyCarruthers62 Thank you for sharing your trip report, it is much appreciated & a very enjoyable read. It said you wore Salomon boots. Would you wear boots again or shoes? I wore Salewa Mountain Trainer approach shoes and found the soles to be too stiff with not enough flex. Check out my Neill Forks video if you like: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f65_mq2Ag9yuf8o.html

@@markanderson1339 thanks for the video, The boots very light and flexible not like tramping boots or firm shoes. I find my feet get smashed wearing shoes.
