Doris Kearns Goodwin has written some amazing books about our Presidents. I appreciate her remarks at the end about our country having been through bad times. Nothing is guaranteed but I'm sure that through those times many wondered if we would come out ok. We have to believe our democracy can survive - and we have to work for it, too!

A great read! It reminds of an era when I had hope--when so much was possible.

17:10 We've come through hard times. True enough, but this time, the evil is in the house, in the bones & marrow of the body politic, sowing & stoking discord, anxiety, anger.

My dad and I used to go corbina fishing along Venice Beach with Bill Beebe. The photo of JFK at the beach in front of Peter Lawford's house (Santa Monica, Ca.) was one of Bill's iconic images.

What I remember of the Great Society is that song by Zappa: “There ain’t no Great Society as it applies to you and me. Our country isn’t free . . . “ Trouble Every Day”

Three of my favorites on one show. Taking about two of my three favorites. I know LBJ did some good, but I can’t get past his egotistical self.
