He slaughtered the competition. He had no wealth back home, all he cared about was dominating the Olympia and that is truly commendable.

It's good to hear Dorian is doing well and being positive despite all his injuries. Some bodybuilders retire and they're like a shell of their past selves but with Dorian it just feels like he started a new chapter in his life

@Mr Zeus shut your ass. Doriyan is a mans man in the way he talks and acts and his morals, men should look up to men like Dorian. In regards to his balls and his testosterone etc I think if you're that interested you should pursue your fantasy else where.

For someone who never really knew that much about Dorian I must say what an outspoken, intelligent, mindful, insightful and humble person he is, truly amazing interview, thank you Patrick.

The only bodybuilder I cared to look like most is Frank Zane. Dorian is the mentality I always strive for and Arnold is the success I always want. It's amazing how many different things these bodybuilders offer actually.

@@blueprince2330true , especially after what Tom Platz told what Arnie did to him in Mr.Olympia when he had torn biceps ! He would do anything to win and to make his friends win! Now I’m doubting his training routine , as 5-6 hours everyday was too much volume. Mike mentzer and Dorian Yates’s principle seems right 3-4 times a week with full intensity and sets till absolute failure will get you the results instead of training 2-3 hours everyday without that intensity or training to failure ( at least close to failure )

I'm English and proud of what Dorian achieved but sad that he is relatively unknown or celebrated in the UK. I watch all his interviews but this one is by far my favourite so far, brilliant job 👍

Dorian Yates - a true British legend that conquered the world. I remember saying Hi to him once in the Jewellery Quarter in Brum in about '94 - ha - it's engrained in my mind. An inspiration to many even if he'll never be rightly appreciated by the masses 🇬🇧

Unquestionably the best interview I have ever seen with Dorian. Rogan was really good. London Real was outstanding. This? This is perfection. A very talented, practiced interviewer (which is so much more than simply asking questions) sitting down and discussing a topic with which he CLEARLY has a history and understanding. Add to that a man who was not only the best in his chosen profession in the most competitive era the sport has ever seen, but has matured and gone on to completely destroy the “meathead” stereotype more ways than I can count. Dorian Yates has grown from a troubled boy into a warrior into the wise old chieftain that everyone wishes they could learn from. I have been watching him since 1991 and never have I heard a braggadocious word emanate from his mouth. Dorian either demonstrates through action or steps back and works until he gets it right. He is the living embodiment of what is possible with the right mix of belief in ones self, raw effort, and humility. Absolutely superb 2 hours that I look forward to watching again very soon!

I’d agree that this interviewer is one of the more responsible and respectful, I just wish he’d stop helping the guest answer the question. Drives me nuts when he’s muttering or talking at the same time the guest is trying to answer the questions he just asked them. Maybe it’s his passion for what he’s dealing with. But all in all, one of the best on KZread and NOBODY is interviewing these kinda guests to the depth he does.

Patrick really knows bodybuilding and the era and it shows. For that aspect, it is the best DY interview. But the London Real movies cover a lot of Dorian's thinking that goes really deep. Dorian mentions at one point he wants to bring his vibrational energy to higher levels to basically get to the higher life form 'next time'. I'm not much into so called "new age" stuff but that resonated with me.

Best interview I have seen by a bodybuilder. Very quick mind, knowledgeable, sensible, mature and humble. ‘I don’t care if you are the president or toilet cleaner I treat everybody the same’ I remember u as a man who still win the Olympia with a torn tricep and bicep, you are that good. Not even into body building, but this guy is always worth a watch, if someone can make something you're not remotely interested in into an interesting topic through his passion and honesty... there's something more there than the specific topic itself, because it can relate to multiple other things on many different levels. was glued to the entire two hour talk, great interview.

From this interview, its obvious that DY's edge, his greatest advantage was his mindset. All the great athletes have it. Your mind has to be right to achieve anything great. Thanks for all the inspiration Dorian.

Mr Yates is by far my favourite mr olympia of all time! Modest, professional with his no BS attitude. Todays guys has so much to learn from him...

His view on Flex is exactly what Denzel said in one of his speeches: Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship. EASE IS A GREATER THREAT TO PROGRESS THAN HARDSHIP.

I wonder if she asked “what’s your name”? A lot of people will describe themselves as a “pro” in gyms. “Pro” bodybuilder would have made any person in a gym try to think who it might be, do to the age. I worked in a gym and there are a lot of scammers. Bringing clients in to train on your equipment is a huge threat to the in-house trainers who have to give a large percentage of their rate to the gym. Having Dorian and his clients in your weightlifting area would bring a lot of people in to just be around that. It’s like having an expensive promotion for free. His face looks a whole lot more normal and good looking these days. He’s one guy who is way more attractive in his older years.

“God” is a word like “time” made by people. The word “god” can be a living thing , non-living thing , series of processes or any thing. Maybe the thing called “god” still exists or doesn’t exist anymore. You can believe anything you want that’s your right, but it’s not right to say the other opinions,theories are wrong or delusional because we don’t know what’s the exact truth is or we haven’t seen it yet. Believing and having faith in god is not delusional YET and rejecting it and having other theories or opinions are also not delusional YET.

Dorian Yates is one of the most intelligent, well spoken person that I have ever listened to. My entire idea of Dorian Yates has been changed.

Dorian Yates was my hero back when I first started lifting weights. He still is, no other bodybuilder comes close for me.

When I was a teenager 3 years into studying body building I realized the genius of this guy. Learned alot from him.

Listening this interview the third time, I loved him before but my love for him has accentuated and respect amplified, Most genuine person with true sportsman spirit. God bless him, I really admire him tons and heaps and hope I am able to adopt some of his best qualities in me.

I'd love to see Tom and also Kevin Levrone. I heard lee priest is coming on, so they are going for the views and outrageous content since the shawn ray nicholls thing. Apparently that paid off

That point about noting how people treat the little guys - I was taught that from an early age, and I couldn't agree more - if you only treat someone well because they have status, you're garbage. I always say hi to the guys in a building who are cleaning or people serving food - they're showing up and doing their best. We can't be all be Dorian Yates (cause there's only one Shadow!), but we sure as hell can treat people with dignity. A superb interview.

Watching in 2024. Still my all-time favorite Mr. Olympia 💪🏽

I was curious when i watched the intro but man i got absorbed by his story, that was fascinating i admire this man.

I met Dorian once, he was a top guy, a genuine man who showed alot of kindness.

I remember seeing him in the 90s, blonde highlights at a health gym store in Birmingham, he had to walk in sideways !

👏🏻Excellent interview👍🏻 I met Dorian one time while I was training at Bev Francis Gold's Gym in Syosset, New York, in the 1990s. I saw him sitting quietly in the office, and I said, "It's always nice meet a legend." He calmly reached over to shake my hand and asked, "Are you a member of the gym?" He was quite reserved and gentlemanly from what I remember. Thank you 🙏🏻

Great mind, great physique. A man to admire. Thanks for the interview Dorian.

This is definitely in the top 10 interviews of any genre on KZread in the last 5yrs.

Patrick Bet-David look like he’s trying to stare a geeky into the soul of Dorian, while Dorian is just sitting there with an immovable demeanor, calm presence, and a chill laid back posture that just says “sorry buddy, I think I’ve lost you, need me to repeat myself?”

Every interview with Dorian Yates is worth listening to.

Dorian Yates is actually one of the most down to earth people ... and the interviewer big up to you both !

This is probably one of the best interviews I’ve seen in a while. Dorian gives such a good insight into his life and career. But it’s also because of the questions the interviewer asked. I was hooked for the whole thing. Subscribing to watch more from you thanks.

I absolutely loved this video. Dorian was on top back when I was pursuing body building in the early 90s. I didn't follow him or the sport much after 2006 or so and to see and hear him now speak of all these things in detail was great!

Dorian a Class Act, never get bored of listening. two hours seemed too short.

I remember Dorian coming and doing a "Posing" Show in HULL UK at a nght club called LA's in the early 1990's, This guy was a freak of nature I couldnt believe what I was seeing, he is such an insperational man I love listening to him.....

A great interviewer like this makes an interview so enjoyable to watch. So well versed, polite and a natural conversationalist.

Bodybuilding has to be the most difficult and underrated sport that exist...

Absolutely Brilliant interview. Dorian Yates is unbelievable, still to this day. A genuine inspiration to anyone starting off. What a work ethic.

The more I watch Dorian the more I just love this man. I love his respect for everyone is the same. You could have a beer or joint with Dorian in a club and you would be just 2 blocks having beer/joint and a chat. Dorian’s attitude to life and respect for others is what makes him a true champion.

One of the best interviews I ever watched! I enjoyed it and I really like Dorian Yates, he is a good guy.

The best interview to The Shadow! I felt I was actually there. That is the conversation every fan would like to have. Amazing job!!!

Definitely my fav bodybuilder of all time. He's incredibly intelligent, put in the hard work and he's always been 100% transparent.

I absolutely love Dorian so clever, insightful, reflective, high work ethic and just doesn't give a shit. A true legend

I love these long form podcasts hosted by Patrick. There's so much value that's hidden in what seems like a casual conversation between 2 interesting people

A masterpiece this is what this interview is! I watched and watched it and will watch it many more times. Just found this and glad I did. Dorian seems so down to earth and well spoken.

Huge inspiration growing up in the 90's, both inside and outside the gym.

Watched him win 3 of his Sandow’s and have witnessed him develop into an intelligent articulate and kind gentleman. He has my utmost admiration.

The world will never see another shadow because of social media pressure...I have always wanted to see another bodybuilder like yates who just appears at the Olympia and beat every body and then disappear in a shroud of mystery.

Romeo Rogers its not about media its about caracter. He is unique. Mental giant. No one will ever do what he done. Try to imagine yourself to trainig in basemant all year and then go to compete few times a year. No way bro, we would all go crazy. He was special.

It's too hard to do what Dorian did. Even the best guys of today won't be able to do that. Dorian was on another level. He was like a monk that could isolate in the mountains for years and not even think about the world outside his.

I love to hear interviews with guys like Dorian who reached the ultimate peak of their profession. The mindset of these guys has always fascinated me.

Dorian was 'my guy' when I started lifting in the 90s. I love his attitude, personality and perspective on everything. Amazing interview!!

A very inspiration man.....when I'm having a rough day I just have to listen to Dorian's positive logic and I feel like I can take on anything.

He is right. Man look at those guys line up. Top 6 .. curry would be a joke

Lee Priest it’s a totally different league. That’s not to take away the commitment they dedicate themselves too. I’m just stating fact’s based on My personal opinion. I don’t see the point to watch any shows now,

Well I too couldn’t see Brandon placing either. his calves are none existent.! as for Rhoden. I can’t rate his physique. to many weak point’s. Despite his use of synthol in his weak bi’s & shoulder’s. worse than curry, in My opinion. What it comes down to, is inferior Natural genetic physical makeup. It’s as simple as that.

Considering I already had the same personal opinion as I do now in 018 when he won the Olympia, Same with Mr curry before the 019 mr o. so with due respect, I’ve only just seen this interview the day I commented. Have you never had an opinion about something way in advance, Watched or listened to something on the very same topic you stated your view way back before learning that someone else shares the same view as yourself. ?

So captivating Dorian, he's so honest compared to many in the industry past and present

I am seen soo Many Dorian interviews but this is the first time I am seeing Dorian actually enjoying the conversation...

Master perfect , a lot of the guests that are Patrick's podcast feel very comfortable to the point where they are being themselves without being pressured to reveal in honesty what they have to say. One of the main reasons that you can listen in for hours to his guests.

This is a great interview. I’ve heard so many of Dorian’s stories retold in every interview and never really tire of listening to him but there was loads of new stuff here. Great job, thank you.

Dorian is definitely one of GOATs in bodybuilding and also podcast/you tube interviews- top man!
