I absolutely adore the soundtrack of Dorian Gray. It is such a shame they haven't relesead a soundtrack. I ( as many others here ) would definately buy it. I have the feeling that the soundtrack would be more succefull than the movie itself!

They placed this song so perfectly in the story, paticularly where it starts at 2:00, where the movie flickers between the tea party and the night life of Dorian

I love both the movie and the book. The music indeed fits both lol. I read the book after seeing the movie.. I just wish I knew what the hell he was doing in the book. At least in the movie, it gave us an idea what he may have been doing that caused portrait to rot. In the book, your guess is good as mine lol

Yea it's an awesome book, it opened my eyes as to why vanity could be such an evil thing in this world. Oscar Wilde had said once, referring to the book "If you can figure out what he's done, you've brought them"

I like the way he reveals that there's an art to sin, like Dorian does all the horrible things whilst maintaining his grace and class.

carterjeremy89 Wilde intentionally kept Dorian's sins hidden. According to him, "Everyone sees Dorian's sins in himself." But Ben Barnes said that if you want to shock the public nowadays, you have to make the movie R-rated, because everything's been shown already.

I have to say i thoroughly enjoyed this film from beginning to end, because i find the whole idea of immortality amazingly attractive, and decadence and debauchery would obviously follow if you had nothing to fear.

@DrQmal You can still read the book. it's quite different! you'll see that it's as addictive as the movie. it's my favourite book!

@lucindau123 there was never a formal one released. songs featured in the film(including this one) can be found on the page for the movie at IMDB. the song in the trailer is Catch the falling sky by the immediate music group.

It's closer to the original book - he was apparently blond and had blue eyes, so that was the extent of it. Also, it does give that 'heart of ice' sort of feeling.

He'd be aggravated that they chose, yet again, to use a black-haired guy instead of sticking to the original blond (they made the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen's Dorian black-haired too, as well as Maupassant's glaringly ginger Bel-Ami, and Rice's blond Lestat.... grah!) Barnes was definitely a good choice though. Hmmm. :D

What instrument plays at 0:51 and 0:58? does anyone know?

In any case a woodwind instrument. I'm guessing clarinet, as it sounds very woody. It has this woodlike timbre, and I can tell by the way it's played that it is without a doubt a reed instrument. Could be a oboe, but it doesn't sound nasal enough for that. I'll just stick to clarinet. And a very expertly played one!
