man i wish you were professor for all my classes...lovin your videos bro...hopin you keep making more videos...i have questions though i know that dopamine starts acting on beta one and alpha as dose increases....but my kaplan lecture notes says fenoldopam a d1 agonisg is used for severe hypertension...shouldnt it be hypotension???? confused here because if doponine act on beta and alpha 1 than there ll be vasoconstriction how does that help hypertension....

Nice video. I have a question,when we use some drugs we release dopamine and feel euphoria,but when we inject dopamine we don't feel it? Why is that?

Thanks for the complement! The reason why you don't get a euphoria feeling when you inject dopamine used as a vasopressor is because this formulation of dopamine is not lipophilic. In other words, it does not cross from the blood stream, across the blood brain barrier and into the brain.

Thanks for the answer.So we act only on receptors of the autonomic nervous system.Same for adrenaline and noradrenaline?To cross the blood brain barirer we need deifferent but similar molecule,for example phenylethylamine class.I guess.Interesting stuff.

Nur, yes at high doses you will still have D1 and beta effects!

+bana daboul if you are asking about dopamine’s effects as a neurotransmitter in the brain (with its effects on memory, euphoria etc.) it should not cause any of this.

Dopamine cannot cross the BBB unless given in the form of levodopa which is a dopamine precursor and can cross the BBB. Once Levodopa is in the brain it is converted to dopamine via decarboxylase. Levodopa is usually used on people with low dopamine levels or Parkinson’s disease.
