Yes, Instacart shoppers do more labor and provide more service, but I wouldn’t say that makes dashers (overall) lazy. It just means that the Instacart customers should tip more than they would for typical food delivery.

100% agree with this, thing is instacart customers don’t even tip as good usually, there be times I’ll get a better tip just picking up and dropping off on doordash, it’s not the fact that I’m lazy but for some reason food delivery customers just have more overall respect for their dashers/drivers in general, I’ve been doing gig work pretty much every side hustle app you can think of since 2019 and can confirm

Cuz with me it's always from my tip and it's usually $3 and it only happens when I can't find something so I really don't think it the customer every time that's too many Coincidences. So one time I asked to speak to a manager and they told me o it went down bc the item count went down.... so they admitted it. So then I'm like HOW WOULD THAT EVER EFFECT MY TIP?? and they didn't respond for like 20 min and then came back with..."were gonna give u a credit this 1 time" they took $3.75 and only gave me $3 back. I screen shot all of it. U should look next time where it's coming out of

As an Instacart customer, I keep an eye on the weather, rush hours and the weight of an order. No monster packs of water, potatoes, multiple soda cases, etc. Delivery people are only human and deserve some consideration. If a blizzard is forecast, either order before the storm, or wait until it passes, even if it takes a few days. Same for heavy rain or heat waves. Tip extra for bitter cold temps, surprise storms and approaching holidays. Those aren't robots making those deliveries. Grateful hugs to you all.

One time there was a snow storm and it got worst by the hour and clearly it was very bad weather, these people lived up on a steep hill in a nice neighborhood and we drove up that hill in deep snow which they were well aware of, then once we got there, they said “oh you made it!” And no extra tip or concern and we barely made it back down because our car was sliding. Seriously people really treat workers like they’re not human.

Be careful. As an instacart shopper they are thieves. If you have a large tip when you take the order it’s been changed after the delivery by sometimes as much as $5. They want you to think the customer reduced the tip. When that happens I go back to ask what I did wrong to improve my service only to find out every time that the customer had no idea. Also the batch pay has dropped over half in just 3 years. The higher the tip the less instacart will pay. They want your pay to come from the customer. They are horrible.

People have preferences on what they like to do. I wouldn’t say it has to do with laziness. Some of us have difficulty lifting heavy loads. Like me, crushed two vertebrae skiing and it’s best that I don’t lift heavy things constantly. I can do shopping orders once a day and that seems to work. I hope that whatever the situation, people are paid according to the work and services they provide. That makes our labor satisfying.

In my market I get $10-15 on average so do I do a 15 order where I have to do all that work or take the 9 doordash order or the $12 Uber east order…I go with most pay less work…I really only do instacart when the person tips really good. Sorry to say but I just sit at home and have the app on and cherry pick the orders I want. Yesterday I did 2 orders in a row…$29 for 7 items and 1.5 miles away and the other $18 for 4 items going 2 miles…having the app open all day when I work from home and just leaving anytime I get a good order works for me cause I ain’t doing the 45 items for $15 like they try to send. I have ordered as a customer on Instacart before. Sometimes it was because I was lazy or had a long day at work. Other times it’s because my shoulders were hurting a lot because I have a shoulder problem and so it helps a lot when other people bring my heavy groceries to me because even just like 15 pounds my shoulders will hurt a lot so it’s very nice to have someone be able to bring me my groceries.

Had to check what the sheeple were saying. Let me make this simple, there is no difference in the service you provide plain and simple the service you provide is delivering a product to a customer. THE SERVICE IS THE SAME. The amount of work you do to provide the service is far different. You always speak YOUR Truth but not real sure why you would even ask if DD drivers are lazy, be better. We could say the Instacart workers are dumber because we all should strive to work smarter not harder. Anyhow service is same it's delivering a product to a customer.

I don’t do instacart because customers take a whole century to respond when I ask them for a substitute for. They’ll be like:”What other flavors do they have?” “What size are they?” “What, when, why, and how?” Dude, I’m already dizzy, don’t make me pass out. 😵‍💫

My latest orders with Instacart have been disappointing. I make my orders easy as possible, with picking replacements, making myself available to ask questions and still my orders are messed up. I’ve received things crushed, expired, broken and somethings not even shopped for, including what they showed me for my replacements on a text. It’s pure laziness on their part and it will always reflect their tip. I don’t mind tipping but when I receive my orders like this, I’m not giving them the tip they expect. My Philosophy is do a good job and it’s appreciated in a good tip, do a lousy one and it will be reported, and the tip drops down to where the service was not appreciated. My time my money is just as important and if someone doesn’t seem to care about that then I say find something different. I don’t do door dash so I can’t make a comment about that. I’m sure you deal with low life’s, I’ve had my share of people who think they don’t have to do right and it’s frustrating, so I understand it’s a problem, but it also goes both way.

My approach to Instacart: min $.5 and .25 per extra unit, $1 per mile, $3 per visit to checkout and load car, $1 per drop off ($2 if apartment) and a tip involved. I do this when it meets my metrics and DD and UE are slow

Right now 1:47pm…got a offer 2 shop and deliver 63 items $17.27… in my opinion that’s not worth my time…what do you think? It would take me 4 mins to drive to store and even if I got each item in 30 seconds, that would be at least half hour…time in line…bag then drop off at 2 locations…for $17.27…not worth it…now the $9 for 1 item at a 7/11 going 3 miles is worth it

I feel like most people don’t take the time to think about it. They have a set tip amount per order depending on the overall total cost whether it’s DoorDash or instacart. I’ve worked both for years. DoorDash you will make more because it’s just delivering so you can do 3-4 order an hour where Instacart since you shop and deliver you can do 1 maybe 2 if you’re super fast and lucky.

I’ve used Instacart since the winter of 2017 I think - my twins were born in August and I didn’t know how I would be able to keep them warm being a single parent. Instacart was life changing for me - I hated shopping to begin with and I had 2 infants. My twins are in kindergarten now. I still use Instacart. I’ve always tipped my shopper’s well because I truly appreciate their service. I’ve never ordered from doordash before - it’s too expensive for me and I can cook at home much cheaper. I started delivering doordash last week. I want to make more money and try Instacart but I don’t know if I can - shopping causes so much anxiety.

You are absolutely correct! IC is harder and takes longer. Especially if you have to deliver to a three story apartment walk up! Instacart is what got me started with gig work a few years ago when I got burned by a few different retail jobs and I honestly loved it and got really good at it like you up until my account got deactivated over bs. Still love my Spark S+D orders when I get them though they always pay so good and Walmart has it a bit more streamlined for the spark drivers to bag and check out than with Instacart so that's also nice..

I am an instacart shopper my husband does doordash I enjoy shopping. I choose to instacart because I can shop for a customer bag for a customer and deliver for One customer or possibly three I can pick orders that I can see more detailed descriptions on. I do think for my customers it provides a better service for them. They don't have to leave their house. Some of them are disabled or elderly and somewhere busy moms with a busy schedule. My husband likes to doordash it's fast-paced it's a lot of in and out of your car, but it also provides a service to customers. They may be not able to get two local restaurants that they enjoy their food. They may be busy at their jobs and can't get away. Whatever the reason I think both provide much-needed service to the community They both require you to be somewhat physically fit .
