DoorDash NEW Updates & The TRUTH!!!

Reading these emails, and seeing the New Agreement remind me of the things Lyft and Uber have been doing for years, to Gig Workers. Companies like DoorDash are setup to exploit the general public. Whether it's taking advantage of their "Independent Contractors" by use of psychological manipulation, or tricking their customers into paying 18+% fees thinking they're getting "free delivery." This latest email paints them in a good light, when in reality this pay model is a sham!! With good earnings in October, the word was out that DoorDash was the gig app to work for. That quickly turned as they gained numbers, and saw how they could manipulate this influx of new gig workers. DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!! In this video I show plenty of low $$ offers, as I've been collecting TONS of data on this "new and improved pay model" they have been advertising. On top of that, they're going back to hiding the total earnings, on the incoming offer screen for "high value" offers so they can exert more control over Dashers, that are classified as "Independent Contractors" yet tricked into an "employee" type relationship. These companies avoid all the responsibilities a normal employer has, by using this model that Uber and Lyft helped create for other gig companies to use. Keep working smarter, and say NO WAY TO LOW PAY!!!!!

When a dasher accepts a crappy offer, they are basically telling Doordash that it's okay to keep giving them out, essentially ruining it for the rest of us! All dashers must stick together and throw anything under $6 BACK. This will send the message to DD that they must fix this or risk not having dashers to do their dirty work.

This is where #LowPayNoWay came into effect, yet creators like Paid To Drive who have a huge following, refuse to promote such a good cause that benefits us all. He would rather promote useless click bait, and ride the fence in fear he will be deactivated. I’ve proven all that nonsense to be false, and have even been contacted by both companies for my feedback.

Don't accept any doordash offer under 5 or 6 bucks minimum. It's not worth it to run an order under that. The time, gas, car wear and tear just doesn't justify low paying orders. If you run these low paying orders, doordash will never fix the problem. It won't need to change anything.

We have the $3 base as of this week here in Pittsburgh PA, as for the hiding totals, i have had a bunch of offer that do pay higher after delivery, however its only on offers of $8 and up, anything lower never pays more, I took about 5 $5 offers and about 20 $6 to $7 offers to test, none of them ever paid higher, about 50% of the time $8 or more ends up being $13 to $18 after delivery. It makes no sense to me why. I have said this over and over: dear doordash, the previous guaranteed payouts should be the actual base pay now, and then add the tips, stop even looking at our tips, they are none of your business nor should they be considered in our earnings. They are bonus to us who do the work, drive our cars, pay our insurance, gas, taxes, and our risks. you need to realise this and stop playing games. Period

Here is an example of their terrible business model: A dasher ordered a deliver purposely not adding any tip, he waited and waited they could not find a driver, finally after some time they got a driver and when he showed up, the customer (dasher) asked what the offer was, he stated it was $4 which is why they could not find a driver, he then gave him a big tip (dasher helping dasher ) and due to the wait DD then gave the customer a $28 credit which was the order total. So how about them apples!!! They rather give a customer $28 instead of just sending out a decent offer to the dashers. Sad, very sad.......

Uber Eats did the same thing with their new model, they were offering 2.5 boosts on mid afternoon on Tuesday in nice weather - all to make it look like it wasn't a cut, only to slowly reduce the payouts over time.

Great Video Jake, Keep Dashers Informed! It's definately not been as good here since October. In October, yes there were a lot of low pay orders, but there were a lot of very high pay orders too. Since start of November, all of a sudden I stopped seeing these really high pay orders. It's actually felt a lot like the previous pay model, wondering if they're pooling tips again, and dispersing them across multiple deliveries. There was a drastic difference in October between non tip orders and tip orders, especially in the amount of tip pay. It's like that's gone as fast as it happened. There is 1 good upgrade to our pay over here, that our base pay is $4. But we have the highest costs to operate in all North America here (gas, insurance, taxes...), so.... I think the moral of the story here is, you can never expect things to stay the same with Doordash, or the gig economy. These companies will continually be making changes to how it all works, and pay, in order to benefit the company/shareholders, while mitigating minimal loss of willing/able workers. It's basically wise to be aware of the never ending pressures to lower business costs, keep customers, all on the backs of the working class. I think that the working class, especially millennials, are starting to understand why Unions were so important to previous generations.

I’ll even do some screenshare to show the offers that are coming in for me, having a 3% acceptance rating. I had a bunch of offers $8+, and even had one that paid me $29 + $2 on time pay for $31. It’s their trick to fool Dashers into accepting more of these low paying offers, when they know these Dashers will eventually get higher paying offers by default, NOT because of some bogus priority. It’s not that simple to write algorithms that are so extensive.

Smells like the old pay plan with less of a guarantee. I did pick up a 10 item late night diner order with $9 guarantee which ended up being $22. Why not just tell the real payout?....So frustrating as base pay is all over the map causing no tip orders to be severely delayed which when they bump up base pay to get the order delivered the dasher customer rating takes a hit as the customer is mad they had to wait 90 minutes to get their meal.

It’s because of AB5. They’re attempting to make it harder to prove that they have control, which they do when they hide information. So by providing all of the info up front, they can claim to the courts, “See your Honor, we do treat them like real independent contractors.” Notice that Uber is also rolling out the same transparency in California as well now. It has nothing to do with the drivers... it’s all about covering their assess in CA. This transparency needs to be federally required to even attempt to classify us as independent contractors. Screw this DD BS of hiding the information everywhere that isn’t threatening to sue them. Screwing the drivers over again and again. At some point, legislators need to rewrite the independent contractors laws to help the ICs from being taken advantage of by these Gig companies without trying to make us employees as well. I don’t want to be an employee, I want the flexibility & tax benefits that come from self-employment, but I also don’t want to be treated like I’m stupid and have no idea how REAL IC are treated.

In several of your videos you point out that there is NO SET AMOUNT for orders and NOW I get your original point. this 'new' pay model is the same, only REVERSED and NOW even lower.. b4 it was $5 minimum with no info of tips, NOW it's $3 WITH tip info.. There's no rhyme or reason as to why DOORDASH will pay $3 some orders with NO tip but then pay $6 with a $3 tip on orders with similar parameters... They need to lay out a pay model that pays drivers a set amount based on all the factors PLUS give 100% of tips.. even IF that SET PAY obligation from DOORDASH were to be shamefully LOW (which of course it would be) THAT would be reasonably fair and equitable for everyone IMO. That would allow drivers to be able to make an INFORMED decision as to whether or not partnering with doordash is in their best interest or worth their time and effort.. This mixed bag of algorithm tweaking and manipulation could cost doordash market share and or open up an opportunity for A NEW delivery service to come in and knock them off the throne... Whew, that's the most soapbox I've ever done on doordash pay. I dash from home for extra$$.. but even then it's hard not to get offended over all nonsense..
