So much respect and admiration for Mike Joy.
I’m 20 years old and I will listen to Mike Joy and Dale Jr and any older gentleman related to racing before I listen to anyone close to my generation. They’ve watched the sport become what it has become and we don’t have the older generation showing these young kids the etiquette of racing. NASCAR especially created their own problem by not having the young guns race against the veterans because they’re sometimes overly aggressive and then throw hissy fits when it’s thrown right back on them. I’m glad someone called them out because it’s about time that someone said something.

Rubbing has always been racing. Part of the issue is non of the new gen is man enough to take out a top guy who is hated. They need controversy to make it more enjoyable. It's so boring now and strategy is thrown out the window with segments.

IF Mike Joy says something..it must be bad. Mike is such a professional.
There is a major issue if mike joy to speaks up and says what he did ......
Mike Joy is the last of the old school announcers. I once saw him in person and his voice is the same. But he really is the last of the real race announcers...Jr is coming up and Burton is great. Gordon is good and actually Waltrip was a good. Kevin Harvick still helps build his cars. But Dirty Mo...great interviews. And Noah is like a young Harvick, he needs an attitude check. "But someone believed in them." and Mike Joy is awesome. The gray he has matches my gray and I've been listening to him for 30 years. I wished Dr. Punch was still here.
Mike joy is so informative. I love hearing him still
Mike is by far the best NASCAR commentator around today. Dale is up there with Mike, the best NASCAR commentating ever was Mike Joy, Ned Jarrett and Buddy Baker on CBS in the 90s. Cant forget the great Ken Squier

It's always been the case that to be a success in racing required sacrifice by a hungry, determined driver willing to spend his time, money and effort right up to the point of reaching the top tier. That's what has separated race drivers from the stick and ball sports. And why race drivers seldom found themselves in trouble with the law or society at large. Stick and ball athletes are shielded from the consequences of their actions as soon as they exhibit exceptional potential. Signing young drivers in a similar way is going to produce similar results.
@Andrewlang90

They sign kids to offer sheets to Div 1 schools when they are 13, same with young kids to deals for Premierships in England. It’s crazy, and it ruins kids. Stop thinking this kid will be the next this or that, just let them be a kid. If they reach that pinnacle level, great. If not, then they aren’t saddled with the guilt of not being what was expected of him.

It was easy back in the day all you needed was a car , truck , car trailer, car garage with a lift , whole lot of tools, money for tires and entry fees the ability to just not work and go racing all around the country this is all you needed. Oh ya talents and luck.
Great interview and video.😂
For anyone that’s curious, the car who had the pit box behind Hemric was the lapped 99 car of Mason Massey who was driving for BJ McLeod.

I've never seen Mike without a suit lol
I've heard many veteran drivers from Tony Stewart all the way to Rusty Wallace and Jeff Burton say it over and over again. Back when they all came into the sport there was an unwritten code of on track conduct that all the drivers learned along the way when coming into the series. But that was lost once they all left, and now you're left with what you have for drivers when it comes attitude and conduct
Good video.
The lost word with young people is the word “RESPECT”.

What Mike is saying here about racing is also applicable to life in general. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you do or where you come from, you must respect those who came before you and who built the world you live in.
I honestly don’t mind drivers speaking their mind about things. It’s part of what makes this sport different than other motorsports. I’d rather hear that than have every driver say the same things all the time

Rich elite children get into nascar despite severe lack of talent. A poor very talented driver is guaranteed to not have a chance. It’s not an opinion anymore no way it can be viewed as anything other than fact.
"There's no such thing as a wrong opinion" is a very dangerous opinion.
Awesome

Mike Joy is a national treasure
Are things that Noah has said any worst than what Kyle Busch said earlier in his career? To this day I will never be a fan of Kyle and under no circumstance will I ever pull for him. I once felt that way about his brother but Kurt admitted his attitude was wrong and that he made mistakes and he is a better man for it. Kyle has changed a little probably because of being married and having the responsibility of raising children. But until he confesses his mistakes and owns up to them I can not be a Kyle fan. I don't understand why their team owners don't have a word of prayer with these young drivers. Surely they should be able to control some of these bad behaviors!
@Draven_Michael
3 жыл бұрын
Because prayer doesn't fix anything when it comes to attitude. The only way to get to a driver and help they see the error in their ways is pulling them out of the seat and the teams and NASCAR won't do that.
@lockedin60
3 жыл бұрын
@@Draven_Michael I was being loose with the term word of prayer. Back in my RadioShack days word of prayer meant a woodshed moment or a verbal lashing. Though I do think prayer is a powerful tool in people's lives. But we are all entitled to different of opinion.
Respect .. lacking in a lot of the new generation of drivers and youth in general.
Mike joy should be a nascar executive!
Mike Joy looks like he just woke up.
Just my opinion about how to get the no name drivers into good cars is to set up a fund that everyone in the system has to put a percentage of there pay into much like a retirement fund (that is properly managed) and then every year there is a board that meets that gets suggested drivers and that big group of drivers goes and tests cars until it’s dwindled down to a smaller & smaller group until there is one or two left for a given ride? Just a thought?
I side with Mike!
Hey Mike, FYI Eddie is Eddie Van Halen, who died last October. It was his birthday.
I mean Mike of course knows there are funded drivers. But the thing is, most drivers get funding from parents up to a certain point if their careers. Then you have the guys that can get the best equipment in the trucks and Xfinity series because of Daddy’s money. Guys like Noah and Riley Herbst haven’t had to work for any drive they have gotten because Daddy always pays for it.
I haven’t watched NASCAR in years . Noah is the first driver who actually makes me want to watch again
