Level 11 the hunted plutonia.wad? Yeah Mom remembers. She and I shared an office/computer room. As you walked in to the room left hand side was her computer right was mine. We used to run a small construction firm anyways. She was in the office working and I came up to play doom thinking I could use her being behind me if the need arose(I.E Arch Vile) I reached that level and started shrieking like a little school girl. "Bud What's wrong?" she asked. "MOM KILL IT" I shrieked. "Bud I'm trying to work" me "Just finish the level for me and you can go back to work" "Bud you have all the cheat codes you can handle it." "No Mom I can't just please." finally she did it.

Doom 3's Archvile can actually set you on fire and does the iconic pose, though it only happened in the Delta Labs, I guess he does that everytime youre in a different floor or platform.

It was an experiment which was trying to close the Hell portals as quick as possible. It managed to do that with a single portal, so Hell invaded with 7, the Experiment closed 6, and Doomguy goes on to close the seventh alone

Really loving all the doom vids, been a fan since 1993!

I hope the Doom Eternal archvile would have a hitscan attack. That would really drive fear into players. And the doomslayer is pretty agile so moving behind cover to avoid the flame pillar would be simple to do. Nothing like the fear of your screen being covered in flames and then you burning up 2 seconds later like in Doom 2

Good job again brother and now Archvile is back in Doom Eternal. I wait for new Doom.

Arch-Vile, out of all demons, has to be my favorite demon that's not a boss.

He was cut from early console editions because of memory limitations. The arch vile would choked each system's memory to a screeching halt and they had trouble getting those versions up and running anyways.

Anyone remember the slayer testament mentioning the levels 9f hell priest? Well what 8f the summoner and archvile represent different levels of hell priest? Summoner being lower and archvile being higher?

We need a map in the next DOOM that takes place in a corrupted church, a Baron stands mockingly where the preacher would be, to his right a Summoner and to the left an Archvile with plenty of "guests" in the rows before them. The level could be called The Wedding or something like that.

You do a great job of making great lore/informational videos. I love the doom ones, keep it up

I really hope that in the new doom game, the bodies stay around. I love seeing the bodies laying around (Like in the original 1 and 2), and then the arch-vile could revive them. Edit: I feel that my message didn't come clear enough, but I just want to bodies to be ragdolls that you can walk through (Like the original first two doom games), but bigger bodies like from the baron would become solid props you could jump on (Though they would dissappear after a minute or two, since that could be inconvenient in tight spaces.), or be able to easily swap between the three modes in the map editor (Dissappear, stay, or prop), and in the settings you could swap if you'd like the bodies to physically stay around or not. Maybe there would be exceptions, like if a arch-vile was nearby, though.

Adding on to what the other guy said, its not possible, and at the same time dead bodies are going to be a nuisance. Specially on higher difficulties since enemies will be able to clip through dead bodies and they will obsecure your vision of the enemy. Its just not convenient.

Like the Cacodemon, the Archvile was originally gonna be in the 2005 Doom movie but it would have a really different and disturbing appearance. Sadly it was scrapped for whatever reason.

I feel in Eternal it would team up with the Summoner from the previous game, assuming that creature will reappear in the new game. I also wouldn't be surpised if you walked up on them already fighting eachother.

I doubt he'll be resurrecting any demons in Doom Eternal because of one simple fact: all dead bodies disappear. That's the case for all first person shooters since like what? 2001? Doom 2016 wasn't an exception, and neither will be this. Sooo I guess he's just going to burn your ass from a distance, and MAYBE heal damaged monsters or give them some sort of a buff.

Maybe they'll change that specific mechanic in the next game so bodies won't disappear, or at least when a Vile is in the area. We'll have to wait and see the actual game play footage to know for certain!

Unless they don't disappear in this one, why else would they have one in the trailer, unless it takes a moment until dead enemies officially disappear

It'd be so cool if the Archvile was in Doom Eternals, and had different resurrection animations for different types of deaths.

I was so disappointed that the Arch Vile didn't make Doom 2016. It is an equaliser, the enemy least able to avoid when concentrating on everything else.

I also think that the Imp does not evolve into the Summoner *overtime* but rather a rank bestowed upon by a shadow lord.

Loved playing DOOM. Still playing to this day it's just so good. I also like all the design of Demons they are so cool to look at. Also can't wait to fight Demons again in DOOM eternal.

2:23 it was removed because the consoles couldn't handle the archviles sprites or something and would cause the game to loose FPS massively.

The reason why Arch-viles are not in the console ports because they have twice the sprites than any other demon and so, as the PSX port developers themselves said; "we can't do justice on PSX" That's because of hardware limitations. Similar how Icon of Sin is replaced with a Mastermind in console ports too.

That Doom trailer hair looks really nice can't wait you should talk about they're saying they're going to put more demons and their you should talk about all the demons from the Doom the not the new one
