Stan Blascowitzs is a reference to B.J.Blascowits , the protagonist of the wolfenstien games and canonically father of doom guy

Stan Blazkowicz is also the name of the marine class in DOOM RPG II, a relative of the marine from the original series. In the DOOM RPG canon, I'm fairly certain the original DOOM marine is called B.J. Blazkowicz, an obvious reference to Wolfenstein's protagonist (who both B.J. and Stan are descended from).

More like great-grandfather, I think. Commander Keen is also descended from B.J. A lot of the "canon" for this stuff is just Romero and other people who worked on the games saying "Yeah, I think they're part of the same universe; the protagonists are related somehow." So it's not terribly specific.

yeah, especially when you consider just how little has changed in the last 16 years. Like Crysis 1 still somewhat looks like something you could see released today, some minor things like lower resolution textures and some missing shaders, but there really hasn't been a significant change in over a decade aside from RTX, and that's still not widely adopted yet.

probably the best doom mappack of the ones i found, the others were kinda midd, but this one was almost perfect, im glad you made a video about this amazing map pack :))

The HUD in this mod is awesome

I tried it out, it was a lot of fun, and figuring out the equivalent of the original secrets was fun too. One of the original Doom secrets actually leads to an entirely separate mini-level.

I love seeing half life mods like this. I didn't even know which parts where doom until I saw the doom images; they got the half life one aesthetic on point!

Nice video! Love how you showed the same area in Doom and the mod for comparison. I am glad to be honest that Floyd is focusing on Decay solo mission. That game needs more love! And what he did so far is great.

I always dreamed of a lab related chapter for Half Life. This is really close to my dreams and what I wanted.

Blaskowitz is a Polish name and would be pronounced Blaskovich But the way they say it in English is "Blahz-koh-whitz" if you were to type it how it sounds. Also reminds me that Brutal half life has the first maps of Doom 1 and 2 and Quake 1 and 2 remade I suggest checking it out. (If it doesn't completely crash on you)

Half life and doom kinda share the same story, a corporation messing with advanced teleportation technology causes a nasty accident where a gateway between an unfamiliar dimension and earth is made resulting in the living creatures of said place attacking the research base which causes the death of countless scientists and it's up to our lonely silent protagonist to put an end to it.

This was also re made in Brutal Half-life,but here it looks a little better

If half life 1 was a remake of doom, and released these levels in 1998, that would be enough for us to be satisfied.

Brutal Half Life has Doom 1,2, Quake 1,2 maps. I kind of wanted to get into mapping to make more of those maps.

When I started using Hammer and Worldbuilder back in the day I would make rooms from Doom :P Hey, a question for you Rad, were you ever a member of the HIT forums? It was a wonderful HL mod community where a lot of modders worked together and helped one another out with projects in HL. I still their work pop up all the time.

I used to do this too. I think I have at least or two Doom maps linked together and working in L4D. Fun times.

BA DUM TSS. For real lol. I didn't know the Doom RPG protag had a name. I used to play that a lot on my old Sony Ericsson phone. That and Wolf RPG.

It would have been awesome to see this finished for the 30th Anniversary. Still, I might try it someday :)

I think the name of our main character is a reference to William B.J. Blaskowitz from the Wolfenstien games. It was made Id a few years before they made DOOM, and was one of the first actually 3D games created. The engine made for Wolf 3D was then upgraded and used for DOOM.

Is anyone else having mouse issues with this mod? I can't seem to be able to turn more than 90 degrees left or right. 180 degree turns and full 360 degree spins are just impossible. Doom's biggest weakness was the level design, it's objectively terrible. Why would you want to port that to Half-Life, where its strongest trait is the level design? "This chicken noodle soup would be PERFECT if it was stone cold and had no chicken or noodles in it."
