26:00 - when i started playing Doom II as a kid - dunno why - but for me this map was really scary . Maybe it's because of those Revenants around every corner. Or that place where you grab a card, and then find yourself surrounded by neverending wave of monsters teleporting out of nowhere... Or maybe it was because of that creepy, eerie music. Hmmm

Basically, These guys don't play this game officially. They used GZDoom, A third-party software that allows this game to be run on newer version of Windows. I literally mean to say that those softwares allows the player to play with mouse very easier so that they can make Tool-Assisted Speedruns (TAS). While in the official DOS version of the game, Player doesn't need to play with mouse because that is not comfort to play with Mouse on that version. Sorry for bad English, Hope you understand !!

So, playing on Ultra-Violence with "sv_fastmonsters true" is essencially Nightmare mode without the respawns and double ammo (cuz there's not need since the monsters don't respawn). People say that monsters do more damage on Nightmare, that's not true. You get that impression cuz "sv_fastmonsters" is turned on by default and the respawns change all the perspective

(Edit, updated as comment below) @Zero Master - This run category really needs to be updated now that the final secret on map 15 has been solved. I am sure it will seriously increase the overall run time unless a faster solution is able to be found. Perhaps a "actually 100%" speedrun category needs to be added to preserve the validity of the old runs. But yeah, this is definitely not a 100% run any longer.

Congrats on the run that was amazing. Regarding Map 15 Industrial Zone and that secret you cannot grab. According to Classic Doom it's the sector before the teleporter which you can actually stand in but in the version we have to use it doesn't tag. However in his LP of Doom II LightningBoltForever using v1.666 (or I think he was there were no secrets in Map 31 or 32) managed to get 100% secrets in Industrial Zone. He was showing it off and to his great surprise it actually tagged. This seems to indicate that id moved this secret to the teleporter when they made v1.9. Do you know where I can locate a copy of v1.666 to verify this

You can grab the secret in zdoom, if anyone grabbed it without cheats then zdoom or some non-vanilla sourceport is probably why.

I've been back to have a look at both LightningBoltForever and BigMacDavis do Map 15 - BMD actually uses ZDOOM as it happens. LBF in his version visibly triggers the secret is revealed message before he steps onto the teleporter whilst BMD using (presumably) v1.9 has to use IDCLIP and his message only pops up when he stands on the teleporter, which seems to support my theory. This is becoming an obsession that I need to put to bed quickly before I go mad!!!

The first 10 maps for TNT would be too difficult for anyone, a full run would also be over 2 hours which makes it even more extreme. Plutonia was almost impossible already without getting the secrets, but I don't think any of the maps become too hard like stronghold for TNT. I was thinking of doing the episodes for plutonia (maps 01-10,11-20,21-30), but a full run would be too much. So, I'll see if maps 01-10, 11-20 and 21-30 nm100s for plutonia is possible, but full runs for tnt and plutonia is too difficult. Next run planned is doom 2 uv-speed again for now, but maybe I can do these episodes before that, not sure.

Zero Master I remember you saying that TNT 1-30 NMS is too much for anyone, but you did it! ;-) The thing is that you are not anyone, but you are the ONE. Waiting forward to see your 1-10 11-20 21-30 NM100S runs for both TNT and Plutonia, and when the time comes... the full runs! Only that 2x NM100S runs keep you from from being an ultimate Doom God. Your won't rest until you do it. Deep inside your heart you know it's possible.

it's all about stronghold really, remove that and it would have been done already. and no, 100% secrets for plutonia nightmare should be impossible.

2 main things make TNT incredibly difficult. The first is that most maps are somewhat claustrophobic, combined with a lot of higher tier monsters early on, combined with the sheer amount of deadly hitscanners, makes for a run that would only be completed if you had the best possible luck. Second is that TNT isnt really as popular as any of the other offical wads, so an almost entirely new route would have to be developed for nightmare TNT, which would not be easy.

xit-vono actually did episode 2 and 3 on nightmare (maps 11-20 and 21-30), so a lot of work has already been done with the route. I'm sure he would have done episode 1 and perhaps a full run himself if it wasn't for stronghold. I should also mention map 09\stronghold comes after map 08 (obviously) which itself is a really luck based map with the last section. There is no way you get a good start for stronghold, if you could say get a mega armor on map 08 and keep all of it for map 09 it would be a lot easier. But that is impossible due to the massive amount of hitscanners in the final room of map 08 and it's even worse if you try to kill them because it spawns more. Well, afaik there isn't even a mega armor on map 08, you pick it up on map 07 and hope to keep it through all of map 07 and map 08 for stronghold.

Stronghold is harder than Vivisection but the map is hard af on Nightmare.

The Chasm’s Actually My #1 Favorite Level Of all In Doom 2 and while even despite all of that Berating Criticism From other avid and fellow Doom Fans I actually enjoy it despite the Frustrations Of all of those Narrow Edges And it’s also one of the most relaxing and Quietest Levels as well where along with that Errie Musical Track In The Dark That always makes me feel that something Ghostly’s always following me around as well from behind !!!! 😉😉😉😉😉👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻
