Man, this is such a trip. I remember as a kid being blown away by the lighting, physics and interactable in-game displays. Watching you speedrun this is such a pleasure, keep up the great work!

Why you're so insane? The Nightmare in Doom 3 and ROE even worst than original 'Nightmare!' difficulty in D1 and D2. But very impressive, i'm very happy that there's still some people who make runs for this very underrated game.

That's such a strange take. I finished NM in Doom 3, and it was hard but not too bad. NM in Doom 2 is ridiculous. It's unplayable.

My headcannon is the Marine was already finishing his shift and was excited to come back up to watch a new season of Walking Dead which starts in 30 minutes but the female coworker whom he invited to come watch with him at the UAC rec area says "hope this isn't too much but before you go can you take that floating heart and stop by hell to stuff into a bald guys throat? See you at the premiere" And the Marine just grabs and delivers it like some paper at an office job.

This is very entertaining and quite insane. Very nice!

I've only got this and Lost Mission to complete on nightmare to get the platinum trophy for Doom 3. I didn't realise just how OP the fists become using the artifact!

Haven't played these games since they came out, watched both your world records, extremely impressive. From my vague memories I seem to remember things being a lot darker and doing a lot of back pedaling when I played them In my youth. Certianly not the case here! Congratulations, amazing skill!

glad you enjoyed it! yeah i made the games brighter by a fair bit. they are actually unnecessarily too dark at this point.

To be honest, I really don't remember. Not too long for that grind but all the previous Quake playing had a lot to do with the performance.

I think it depends where you are from. I am Croatian so I heard something else initially, but I get pistachios from the English speaking countries. Same goes for the jibberish of Marc Sec and Aku Aku from Crash Bandicoot. 😀

haha. well, you can fist fight him but only on nightmare difficulty because you already have all the powerups from the start. if you play on other difficulties, you get each powerup by defeating each of the bosses, so slow motion, berserk and invulnerability. you do not have berserk at that point to be able to punch him to death if you play on recruit for example, but only after defeating him you get it.

How do you make that jump at 3:41? How is that even possible? I've tried countless times and get nowhere near the speed and height you get. Are you using some kind of cheat or something?

On nightmare you get all 3 powerups from the artifact, including berserk gives you more speed. A small strafe jump and a bunny hop to keep the momentum, ergo many hours of old Quake and Doom games with strafe jump physics. Plus, the BFG edition has faster movement than the original Doom 3 so it is actually quite easy. That jump is even possible without using the artifact, just too hard for a full game speedrun. In my segmented run of the original RoE, there is more cool stuff you would probably like e.g. the rocketjump in Phobos Labs 2, the end of Phobos Labs 3, entire Hell. I am really wonder how to make the bunny hop.

Sometimes when you just click instead of holding mouse 1 with the grabber, the animation of it holding something doesn't even play. It looks funny :D

Would this game be better to speedrun on the original xbox?

Nope. This game was downgraded for the OG xbox, so some changes were made and levels split in parts and such, plus you would be using a controller to play an FPS game, which is just an inferior tool to mouse and keyboard in that case. Chunk0 did some runs on the OG xbox like 2 years ago, but I don't think he ever uploaded them or submitted them.

r_gamma 2 or 3 in the console. I also had it brightened in OBS. Not sure if it will work like that anymore though. If not, you can always increase the brightness in your GPU driver's control panel.

We use a souceport called RBDOOM3BFG which makes the cutscenes skippable with ESC.

Does the heart increase damage?

On Nightmare, the artifact (the heart) gives you 3 powerups instantly that otherwise, on other difficulties, you get by defeating bosses. Slow Motion, Berserk and Invulnerability - in that order. Berserk gives you increased damage output, especially for punching and makes you move a lot faster.

Oh damn, that's impressive! One more question, how did you jump that chasm at 3:38? I try and barely get to jump halfway. I'm on an Xbox Series X so maybe that matters, I dunno.

@@morgan79737 @Muerto Yeah, you would need to utilize strafe jumping which is hard to do on a controller. When you utilize it, it is quite easy while having the speed boost from the artifact which you only get on nightmare at that point in the game. It is also doable without the artifact, but for that one, you would need to play on PC and do a decent strafe jump. There is a third way as well, which involves using a barrel and a grabber gun but that is probably not really viable with a controller either, but you can at least take a look: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gHuNmKWNpt2vlto.html

it is easier to see for viewers if the game is well lit. for me, the game being dark does not really make a difference since i know it well

I have no idea tbh. I should have fists or pistol. It doesn't really change anything though, since after the first cutscene you don't have it anymore as far as I remember.
