I feel the same way. My first boyfriend from 1955, stopped seeing each other in the ‘60s and got back together in ‘72, stopped seeing each other in the ‘80s, gave me away in my commitment ceremony on 02/29/96, made his transition on the same date in 2020, loved this song. When I hear Mr. Hathaway do this, I tear up, for real! Much love James from me!

My husband passed away this year and this was the song I had played at his memorial service. I don't think I could have chose a more appropriate song and Donny Hathaway was the best singer ever. Donny made you feel so much emotion and he made it seem effortless.

As much as I love Stevie Wonder as one of my greatest singers I have to admit that Donny has him beat by just a tad because he sang with so much emotion. His daughters voice has that same effect on me. Have you heard her sing "A song for you"? Watch her sing her dads song at the Apollo.(You tube). I cry.

I lost my mum during covid, still hurts so so bad, she was first saved from a heart attack and then bringing her to another hospital she was infected due to such bad organisation of so many things and she was infected, they never told me of what ??? I thought we had something special...but I guess not...but, even tho he didn't choose me...he is still so special. He was honest...and I flet like I could trust him...he had been thru so much and had been hurt deeply by others and I wanted to love him until those places in him were healed. He is tall, handsome, smart and Godly...and I thought we had so much in common...like he got me and I got him...but...that wasn't sooo but this made me think of him

Oh, man... The tears are knocking at the door.

I lost my father last year. He passed on Saint Patrick's Day. I would have seen him that night and spent it with him, my brothers, nephews and friends. We always hung out on Fridays. Laughing, arguing, drinking and listening to music. It was the best times. Things aren't the same now. I'm so blessed to have had him. For him to see my sons grow and for them to know their grandfather. Forever the life of the party. He was 83. I love you and miss you more then I can ever express Pop. I hope you understand and forgive me for some of the things that I never thought to say.

There is songs, that shouldn't be sung by anybody else but the ones who sang it in the way nobody else will ever be able to .... Donnie, i'm waiting for you in the resurrection to sing again..

Of course not only am I listening but I am completely amazed each and every time I hear this. His voice has yet to be out sung. He is so pure and pitch perfect . Tone and vibrato are perfect ! Such a moving piece of art. Such a shame he left us so soon.

The man had a voice and a talent that were truly otherworldly. His rendition of "For All We Know" is one of my all-time favorite songs. Today Donny would have turned 70 (October 1, 1945). He may no longer be with us but thankfully his voice lives on in his recordings.

Heart breaking in it's emotion .... Donny knows exactly what he is singing about ... and the listener knows too..... what a voice... such depth.

Unbelievable - the voice is beyond the words. What a song ! You’ve either got it or you don’t have it. Donny’s got it !

Donny Hathaway is an absolute master hands down he's taken a jazz song makes it in a contemporary classical music form and sing it like no one could ever do he's done the impossible.

He had a pure singing voice, just an amazing talent.

For all we know we may never meet again, but I'm glad that we found the brightest Love in Donny.

You can't learn how to sing this way! The quality the voice control the perfect and the right amount of vibrato can be enhanced by a vocal teacher however the sweetness the pure resonance and the quality and sweetness of that voice was made by The Master Potter Himself God Almighty! God given talent is what you hear! RIP Donny you were going through some bouts of depression and you took your life one night but I know that Tho some might disagree I believe your in the Hands of The Master Himself!

There are few artists that can bring forth such joy & pain thru their voice, their music. Donny's one of em. Great music always outlive its era & the musician, it continues to live, to evoke, to move ppl. I have feelings of happiness & sadness, makes me think about my mom, who went on to Glory, early 2011. She introduced me to Donny Hathaway's music as a child. Hearing his music, this song particularly, I can see her thru him. Rest in paradise mom & Donny!!

My dad introduced me to Donny too as a kid and I always loved playing his albums and laying on the floor in front of the stereo reading over the album cover.... ahhhh the good ole days!! And even now his voice just makes me well up inside, soooo moving!! In tears just listening to this right now! Just simply amazing!! Can never be duplicated!!!
