You’re correct. Even to show a gesture of respect to Ipman was a big NO NO considering his background as a Japanese military commander. He risked his own position and self by even showing respect to Ipman, unlike Sammo, Tyson and the other rival Wing Chun master, who none of them wouldve had any consequences for showin respect.

Love how Ip Man's fighting style changes over the course of 4 movies, which was intentionally designed by the film crew. In Ip Man 1 he was alot more direct, fierce, liked using high kicks. By the 4th movie he relied more on technique than force as he was no longer as powerful physically. Top notch figth choreography!

I think they used the help of actual martial artists to get the right moves. In it's entirety, the movie's quite accurate about the different fighting styles like Wing Chun and Karate. I like how Ip Man kind of uses his own kind of Wing Chun, and makes improvements to it. It keeps it realistic, and his fighting doesn't get boring, so you always anticipate what move he's going to do next

I'm a big fan of all the films (doesn't mean I also don't have criticisms). I keep coming back to this fight out of all of the fights Ip Man has been in, because this one always stands out. In most of Ip's fights, he stops once his opponent has been disabled or incapacitated. This is not the case here. I don't think there's another fight in the entire series where he continues to strike his opponent long after his opponent is incapable of fighting back or defending himself. Fighting for revenge, with sheer emotion that looks to include anger is not a principle we ever see Ip fight by. This fight was personal. He wanted to show the General all the pain he has caused, use his fist to deal justice for the lives he has taken. The General and his soldiers have starved, beaten, and killed members of his community and threatened his own family. The lives of two friends who die as a direct result of this General's actions or his subordinates is everything we needed to know about why this fight was going to be different. I often asked "why go through all those extra hits and not simply take the General's life?". I think the General knew even before the final, withheld strike, that Ip could take his life any time he wanted. Ip knew that forcing him to live in dishonor was a fate much worse than death.

Best of the best Donnie yen
Long list combo 😂 PERFECT 🤩 😆
Yen's choreography and execution are a literal joy to watch.
Back when fights scene wasn't commercial style and was actually a very good pasted fight. Idk why I can't see that after Ip man 3 the fights just didn't seem natural like this one.

Офигенная серия фильмов. И каждая драка это нечто.
It's crazy how the two have completely switched roles.
2:39 that damn move makes the hole fight even awesomer
I count a 44 hit combo at the end there starting with the 2 kicks to the corner. That one deflection of Muira's arm was not counted as a hit to me. What's your count?

Esta foi a surra mais rapida que um japones apanhou na mão deste mestre.
This was one of them fights where dude had no chance in hell from start to finish
At the end I feel like that was a 40 hit ultra combo!!!

You mean the throat jab? If yes, I didn't actually know that he used this move in the first movie. Definitely a bookends.
¡Es mi pelea preferida y me encanta gracias!👍😊
Bruce Lee was the greatest for a reason and ip man was that reason!💯😘😁😉👍
ip man is the definition of "run them hands"
After watching these fight scenes on YT, I watched the full movie. The full movie is set before and during the Japanese invasion of China during WW2. It's pretty deep and explains a lot about the relationship between China and Japan.

Well Japan was an island that didn’t want to be threatened by expanding outside cultures so they did one last ditch effort to expand their influence rather than be overtaken by foreigners but now we have the current Japan which is vastly different than feudal Japan

It’s never one answer or another usually a blend of logic emotion and other ways to justify death and killing historians want it to be simple and history text books need it to be simple but in reality it’s super stupid complex

@@jason_flash7356 that was one reason for the invasion as they need resources for expanding their empire through force but not the main reason they invaded China

@@c.galindo9639 Japan was already influenced by outside culture which was Chinese culture, for thousand of years. Almost every part of Japanese culture was originated in China.
