Ip Man 4 :The Finale is a 2019 Hong Kong-Chinese biographical martial arts film directed by Wilson Yip and produced by Raymond Wong. It is the fourth film in the Ip Man film series, which is loosely based on the life of the Wing Chun grandmaster of the same name, starring Donnie Yen as Ip Man, Scott Adkins as Barton Geddes, a corrupt, racist U.S. Marine Corps gunnery sergeant and Karate expert , Danny Chan as Bruce Lee owner of a San Francisco martial arts school and Ip Man's student and Wu Yue as Wan Zonghua, chairman of the Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA) and Master of Tai Chi and Chris Collins as Colin Frater, a racist U.S. Marine Corps Karate master.The only Ip Man movie in the franchise, in which Ip only fought with the main antagonist in the final fight scene, without once speaking a word to him throughout the movie and the first movie in the series where Ip Man speaks English
Although Ip Man 4 was intended to be the conclusion to Ip Man's story, on 18 May 2023, a new Ip Man movie titled Ip Man 5 was announced by Mandarin Motion Pictures at the Cannes Film Festival. Donnie Yen also unveiled the poster for the film on his Instagram.
During their alleyway fight, Mark Strange performs a jumping back kick on a solid door to show his skills. This gets the response "Doors don't bite back, but I do" from Bruce Lee, referencing Lee's memorable "boards don't hit back' quote from ENTER THE DRAGON. Not only that, but if one takes a closer look at Mark Strange, he bears more than a passing resemblance to Robert Wall, who plays the character in ENTER THE DRAGON that Lee makes the statement to.
The film reunites Scott Adkins with Action Choreographer Yuen Woo-ping for the third time, having previously worked together on BLACK MASK 2: CITY OF MASKS, and DANNY THE DOG/UNLEASHED starring Jet Li.
