That season, the alternate sponsors were Campbell Soup Company (which was the series' primary sponsor through the end of the 1964-'65 season), and Singer.

You will also notice the Seal of Good Practice, which was the following year changed to the Television Code as well as the dancing sticks for Screen Gems that also would be replaced a year later.

Sounds like Olson Welles voicing the Campbells commercial. Rumor has it he was paid in soup. 😉 The director of that episode of the Donna Reed Show is shown as Gene Nelson. He was quite the actor and dancer in his time. His most famous role was likely as the character of Will in the motion picture “Oklahoma”. Donna Reed later replaced Barbara bel Geddes as the matriarch Miss Elly in the tv series, Dallas. At least until bel Geddes decided she wanted to return as said Miss Elly. Donna Reed sued for termination and breach of contract, and won. This baby boomer kid loved Donna Reed, and our family always watched her show. For me, the fourth season version of the theme song was the best!

0:22-0:24 & 0:29-0:31 always makes me think of the music Paul Smith, Oliver Wallace and George Bruns did in the late 40s thru the 50s. I always picture some animated Disney character bouncing to those notes and instruments in those bits.

I remember this show as a youngster . The last three years of the program Ann McCrea played Ms. Reeds kooky next door neighbor / best friend Midge . Her role on the program was wholesome and chaste despite the previous dessprition . But I have had to opportunity to see her in the other old shows as a guest star in recent times and she has appeared as hard women , girl friends types usually attired in short pants or tight dresses . I wonder how Ms.Reed and the powers to be selected her this kooky , funny but wholesome role ? The only thing I can think similar would be Donna Douglas before she started The Beverly Hillbillies but not as provocative .

While the network print is nice, I'd personally like to have one of those butchered syndication prints with that bad CPT plaster. "From the Hollywood stu-" _CPT logo_
