when i first started getting into jazz a great jazz musician told me to learn donna lee. it took me too long to come around, but once i did it gave me a proper appreciation for bird, and basically set me on the path to really being able to play a little.
One of the beautiful things about Charlie Parker is that his music translates very well on the guitar. You clearly demonstrate this. Great job! Very inspiring! I’m going to pick up my guitar…right this minute to start a great day!
Truly remarkable. I can’t imagine how long this took to transcribe, learn and play to that level. Very impressive and enjoyable.
wow great
Wow that is cool... you doing ALL the solos. Thanks man,.... Lessons for years here. Saved
you have some amazing tone man, not only that but you absolutely killed the whole piece.
Uffff que nivel maestro wow
You really have a great tone with just the perfect amount of compression. Great job!
Even the bud Powell part POG
Thank you. I was looking for an accessible Donna Lee guitar tab for over a month. Have been humming this song for ever. Can't imagine how Charlie Parker/Miles Davis mind created such a marvel. Thank you!

One of my favorite parts about the guitar is how many ways one can go about learning something. Amazing playing haha!! I've only learned the intro to this tune. It's very inspiring to see the way you play the whole tune! Great job!

Great performance on guitar !
Man this is amazing stuff. I thought it was just going to be Parker's solo but you also did Davis' and Powell's solo. Great stuff.
Nicely done, sir!
Great playing all the way around. Loved it! Interesting hearing 3 different giants solo back to back with different voices coming out of one guitar - you. Very hip.

ยอดเยี่ยมมากครับผม
My first bird solo was blues for Alice and I barely made it through that check out the video on my channel.. I thought that would be the last bird thing I touch being it was hard to learn what I did by ear alone… it was a really good start for me and like a birds whistle, another song by Charlie comes along with sounds that’s make you have to at least try, now I’m trying to do this one in full… I’ve been doing it for the last 4 hours and only made it to 7 seconds. This video is insanely good
Clap 👏 clap
Ahhh ha I accident put this on 2x play back speed and it sounds crazy. OMG. I’m gonna fry my brain dude.
Bro how did you get that tone!!!!!! 😎😎😎 it’s beautiful please tell me! My band will forever be great full❤

I used Finale.
Is there YT video with slower version of "Donna" for us B.B.King fans who dream to play Charlie's masterpiece? Anyone? Thanks.
Mind blown! Congratulations on a great job and a serious skill... 👏👏👏 How long did the entire piece take you to learn?

I honestly don't remember, I made this video almost two years ago. What I know is that I wouldn't be able to play it like this anymore! 😆

Brilliant playing and transcription. One correction: last 2 quavers of bar 44: you're playing the correct notes but the score should read e to f (13 on 4th string moving to 10 on 3rd string). David
What guitar are you playing?
😲
looks like a lot of work

it's a good work but sax in the backing track is just too loud, guitar can't be heard clearly

Matters not. When you play along you can turn your amp up as loud as you wish.
そこまで上手く弾けるのなら、コピーなんか止めて、自分なりのアドリブを考えれば良いのに。
WOWZA
Why not write it in the correct octave for guitar (8va), i.e. the way you're actually playing it?
@federicodominici245
Жыл бұрын
Because I wanted to write it with the actual pitches that are played on the record…
@Hijodenels

@@federicodominici245 That's okay but since you mentioned guitar specifically I expected the part to be written for in correct octave for guitar. It'd be like saying "full transcription for Trumpet" and then not transposing the part to Bb. No worries, though, just means guitarists have to transpose up an octave. 😃😃

@@federicodominici245 Thanks for doing it the way you did; makes much more sense considering the instruments you were transcribing. Plus, anyone who can read will know where the notes are in 8va... it's not like they're different notes, just an octave higher. Thank you for sharing this. And your playing... my goodness!! 😂🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Bravo!!
The fake book only give you the first 30 bars. Now I have to buy it again 🫣
