*Fun fact:* The giant bee that we faced in the first game *(Queen Bee)* is the wife of the one that appears in the second game *(King Zing)* In the second game before facing him he will chase us in a hallway while a tension music plays, this is because he's angry and wants revenge on us for what we did to his wife... And this is best appreciated knowing that King Zing is the only boss that appears (and chases us with music created exclusively for that persecution) before our encounter with him... After killing him in the third game, there are no more King or Queen bees, so there are no more bees, and therefore they had to replace them with robots identical to them.

Also I never realized the royal bees were together as king and queen! I’ve had those 2 games on the original snes for around 20 years and never noticed that before lol. Thinking back on those boss fights it’s pretty obvious that’s what happened.

I remember the first time facing King Krool and little did I knew that there were fake credits. I freaked out in joy thinking I beaten him but as I turned around after the fake credits were gone, I realized the showdown wasn’t over when got back up on his feet and started jumping. That’s when I was like, “Oh snap! I still got to beat him!”

Beating the bosses is never truly satisfying until you make the giant banana fall on them

This is honestly one of my biggest complaints about DKC1, all the bosses are pathetically easy; except K. Rool. Compared to DKC2 and 3, where you are actually likely to lose a few lives, since each boss has a gimmick; the ones in this game are all insanely vulnerable. The GBA port fixed this by making all bosses have new gimmicks. Gnawty is a joke, and you can stunlock him easily and wear him down in seconds. (In the GBA port, he has Really Gnawty's attack pattern) Master Necky is even easier if you just keep jumping on him. He'll never get to even attack if you're fast enough. (In the GBA port, he has Master Necky Sr.'s invincible until he attacks gimmick). Queen B will literally walk RIGHT into your attacks (the GBA port actually buffed this boss by having her get a series of smaller Zingers to protect her). Really Gnawty is easy once you get his pattern down where every time he is hit, he'll jump right at you. Once you figure that out, it's just a matter of timing. (In the GBA port, when he jumped, he'd cause stalactites to fall from the ceiling). Dumb Drum is a joke boss, if you have DK and can kill the Army Dillos easily; the fight won't prove any challenge. And even with Diddy; the Army Dillos are literally the only tough part. (In the GBA port, you actually have to hit him with a TNT barrel to damage him, he doesn't just kill himself for you). Master Necky Sr. is the only real challenge of the bunch, because you can't hurt him until he attacks. (In the GBA port, they up the ante by making you fight both Master Necky, and Master Necky Sr at the same time). And King K. Rool; well being the final boss, he's a step up from the others. Not impossible; but at least his pattern develops as the fight goes on making him a bit more of a healthy challenge.

@@tront5903 Yeah, it surprised me quite a bit too. I wasn't expecting most of it. Admittedly; the GBA port has it's own problems; mainly due to the bit crushed screen crunch and that the control feels a little wonky at times; but the bosses are one thing it improved for sure. Unlike the original game; where most of the bosses are easy as pie; the GBA one actually managed to claim several lives from me; just because the new attack patterns added something to learn and need to practice; other then just jumping on the boss until they die.

Being easy inst the problem really, all dkc1 Boss battles except k rool are easy. Its Just that dumb drum IS a poorly executed concept. Sure you may argue that he's unique on Its own and the wave of enemies Boss fight IS interesting, but all that thing does is send enemies and try to Crush you, thats It, sounds good in theory but the execution leaves a Lot to be desired. Its Just not a Fun Boss fight and It drags itself out between sending enemies Just for a lame and easily avoidable Crush attack.

The ending song feels emotional
