Hmm.snes version got better sounding music,has better sound effects,and just overall looks better graphicwise.However,the Gameboy version has a livelier map,and got some pretty interesting extras.they both do something better than the other 1.

DK top de mais. A versão do GBA apesar de tudo tem detalhes extras nas fases.

O chip de som da Sony combinado a bela paleta de cores tornava o Super Nintendo um console único,mesmo o Game Boy advance contando com alguns recursos a mais na minha opinião o Super Nintendo era mais capaz,mas o Game Boy advance com seus jogos exclusivos feitos exatamente pra ele mandava muito bem,eram ótimas pérolas. Problema q as cores são saturadas para dar uma melhor visualização no display dos primeiros GBA q não tinham iluminação traseira. Hj em dia já tem roms da versão de GBA dos 3 DK com as cores corrigidas

I did grow up playing both versions, but I have to go with the SNES version only because the music at least sounds like it's trying to be dark, which fits the game's tone.

SNES is better in every regard. The GBA, while having a more powerful CPU, limitations of screen resolution, overly high contrast visuals because of the dark LCD screen and a terrible sound chip that can’t touch the SNES made it a bad conversion. Toppled with extra (unnecessary) dialog at the start was cringe

While the GBA sound chip is an odd hybrid of chiptune and samples, the SNES sound chip is ass 😝 Basically midi wavetable with very low-fi, muffled samples.

@@FIXTREME The SNES sound chip excels in deep roaring basses and has a very pleasant, smooth tone and analog-like clarity to it that is unique among all consoles, while the GBA sounds piercing, harsh and brittle. I don't know how you can say the SNES sounds like ass. If anything it's the GBA that sounds like ass with its unfiltered, dirty crunchy digital sound.

The opening is more or less the same as what happened in the SNES version's manual. And the GBA version has a new boss fight the SNES version lacks. Other than those, I agree whole-heartedly.

@@FIXTREME The GBA's sound chip is hands down worse than the SNES's. While any game with music specifically designed for the GBA will sound pretty good, there are no SNES ports that sound better on GBA. The GBA has a very similar sample system, but even more bit crushed, and killed by the built-in speaker.

It's no contest. SNES wins all the way.

I like the SNES more, it's the Original - with better Colours, Backgrounds and Animations!

I'm not gonna lie, I like both versions. SNES did have better graphics and better music, no doubt about it. I liked that the GBA version added some extra cool mini games, additional cutscenes, new boss, and items to find like the golden feathers and photos. But if I really had to choose, I'd pick SNES. What I really like about it is that every level had its own version of the win/lose themes.

I came from all three GB games (Land 1-3) then to the "real thing" on Snes (Sound, graphics etc.). DKC2 is my all time favourite game and I also like the GBA games just to play them with some differences. I mean we don't have to compare them. We can or I must say as a fan I can just be happy to play "another version" of this game. Mini-Games are cool and in DKC3 there is a whole new world and music all by David Wise. What do we want more for a port? Want just to add something: On DKC2 on the GBA Dixie doesn't eat honey...don't know why they removed that detail 😕 It's one of the thing that makes DKC2 on Snes so special besides the whole Pirate-Theme/Lost world etc. The title screen on Snes together with the "magical" music tells you that you will experience a wonderful adventure full of great locations, hidden stuff and all accompanied with a mind blowing soundtrack ☺ I still get tears when I hear "In a snow bound land" 😢 The 90s were unbeliavable...great stuff in the 80s too for sure 😎

I actually prefer the GBA version gameplay-wise, at least for horizontal level, as the smaller sprites mean you actually get a wider FOV, making it easier to rush through the levels in time-attack

I find it weird how in Donkey Kong Land 2 and GBA Donkey Kong Country 2, they mirrored the map.

Achei uma pena os efeitos sonoros no gba não serem os mesmos usados no snes. Mas no geral ficou muito bom.

The Best. Game. Ever.

Apesar que a versão do Snes é a original. A versão do Gameboy ficou melhor em termos de animações na história na aberturas do jogo e com elementos acrescentados nos cenários das fases do jogo

Snes has better graphics but GBA version has fun bonus mini games like Funky Flights.

Essas cores lavadas no GBA sempre me desagradaram.

It still amazes me how good this game looked on the SNES.

The SNES is one of Nintendo's best console's ever made

The snes version feels and looks more serious but the gba version does has some small improvements here and there including some extra sound effects or those falling coins in the background before entering a bonus stage etc,,, But i still prefer the snes version because of it’s better colors,higher res graphics and stereo audio(altrough the default setting is in mono and you cannot save it to stereo,(stupid rare ware) While it sound cool on paper to have those extra’s in the gba version BUT i don’t care about those extra’s BUT i do like the title screen better in the gba version,am mean why the snes version says diddy kong’s quest instead? Why it doesn’t also say donkeykong country 2???

Yeah they only showed the subtitle on Snes but it's the subtitle where all the magic begins that make this game so special. It's my favourtie game of all time and for me the Snes title screen looks way more "magical" (treasures, lost world character etc.) than the GBA title screen which is just the picture of the box art ;-) "Diddy Kong's Quest" it should be named but they changed it to "Diddy's Kong Quest" to play with the name "conqest" (Kong Quest). That game blew me away and I came from Donkey Kong Land on GB to the Snes which was just like to play the real thing finally 😊 They however removed a detail which I never heard someone speaking of. Dixie doesn't eat honey when she climps the honey walls! That was some of the greatest tiny details and I don't know why that was removed... Why do you like the GBA titlescreen more? Just wonder why you like it more ;)

@@Al-su7wl simply because the gba says the full name it says donkeykong country 2 diddy’s kong quest whereas on the snes title screen it only says diddy’s kong quesy, well if they couldn’t fit the whole title in the snes version,then why not just call it donkeykong country 2 as the main title because that’s what and how we call it in general,same problem with donkeykong country 3, HOWEVER i do lite the picture and music in the of the title screen in the snes version waaay better then the gba version trough.

Ok I can understand that and I somehow never questioned that the title is not complete 😄 And I think there is a reason why there is no intro scene in DK2 but I forgot. Read it in a comment on youtube somewhere. Something about the free memory was already used for something else 😅

SNES version is the obvious winner here. GBA port just has a bunch of pointless changes and additions to the game that it did not need. I feel sorry for whomever played the GBA version and never understood the hype the DKC games get, so they never bothered giving the SNES version a try.

I grew up with the GBA versions of all 3 and I know full well of the hype surrounding the SNES DKC's during the high-point that was the mid-90s. I remember once in elementary school they showed us the DKC1 Exposed VHS and it blew my mind.

@@gooigigamer7398 There's actually a proper-color palette of DKC1 GBA, so it seems possible that they could give DKC2 and 3 a try. On a side-note, the brightness of the Super Mario Advance games never really bothered me.

Dixie has always been Diddy’s girlfriend, far back as I can remember. Even says it in the SNES manual

En cuanto potencia técnica SNES tiene una resolución mucho mayor pero GBA es mejor en el resto, sobre todo en la memoria de los cartuchos. Esto hace que haya mucha más potencia por cada píxel. Sin embargo en la mayoría de ocasiones la resolución se impone y el caso de este juego es un buen ejemplo. A día de hoy esos prerenderizados en una resolución de SNES ya me parecen horribles, si también es verdad que nunca me gustó la estética sobrecargada de la franquicia. En cuanto al colorido me gusta mucho más el mayor contraste de SNES, el colorido de GBA lo harían para el contraste de su pantalla

Sobremesa vs portatil. Y pensar que hoy en día hay quienes se quejan de nintendo switch porque baja la resolución o los FPS para portear juegos de sobremesa. Jajajaja. No entienden nada

A versão do SNES é muito melhor, o GBA pode ser um console mais poderoso mas as cores lavadas estragaram a versão original fora que a qualidade de som que no SNES parecia algo nivel CD também deu uma bela reduzida no GBA.

Cores lavadas se faziam presentes no GBA por conta da tela que não tinha iluminação, infelizmente pra que as coisas pudessem ser vistas de forma decente era preciso esse tipo de manobra

Além da mudança nas cores, eles tiveram que "espremer" os gráficos para caberem na tela do GBA (que tem menos resolução que a tela da TV), o que deixou os Kongs menos definidos. E o som ficou pior, pois o GBA não possui um chip de som dedicado.

No Snes os gráficos ficaram lindos, porém na versão de GBA ficou terrível não sei pq kkk em fim, Snes ficou melhor graficamente, no GBA ficou top as animações novas e aberturas.

@@camaradapadilha cara, uma coisa é falar...a nintendo pode falar oqq quiser...pode falar que o GBA é melhor que o ps5 se quiser...outra coisa é provar no DESEMPENHO, que é oq mais importa...todos os jogos do snes q foram lançados para o GBA ficaram muito piores...em vários aspectos...o GBA no papel é melhor sim q o SNES, tbm 6 anos de diferença tinha q ser mesmo...agora em desempenho nos multiplataforma, que é o único comparativo que nós temos ele e muito limitado

Versão GBA horrível, só o que chama atenção é a historia que é contada, na versão do snes vc só tem mais detalhes se ler o manual

GBA bad port, SNES win. Good colors (GBA too bright), aspect ratio (yes, in GBA much more visible on screen and the image is smaller, but not detailed more), besides, the bonus screens hasn't changed for the better.

GBA version was made brighter on purpose because the original GBA lacked a back-light which was hard to see.

I think it had something to with the size of the ROMs as this game was in a 64Mb cartridge. I believe there were 3 variables - 32Mb, 64Mb and 128Mb. I don't know why Nintendo didn't go all out with the Hi ROM cartridge of 128Mb as I know it could have looked much closer to the SNES source material.

Hardware limitations. Despite the GBA often being talked of being more or less a "portable SNES", it was quite badly handicapped by its lackluster hardware, as Nintendo insisted on cheap and low power components for its handhelds to keep prices down and increase battery life. For instance, with no dedicated sound sample processing chip in it, samples had to be processed using the CPU (which wasn't exactly all-powerful to begin with), meaning balancing between sound quality and overall performance was a necessity. Often the developers chose the latter. Furthermore, the DAC in the GBA was poor, resulting in worse quality sound than what was actually on the cart. The often washed out looking bright graphics are because devs needed to compensate for the original GBA not having a backlit screen.

I saw an interview with the DK developers, Rare. One of them said that the SNES is a more powerful hardware. Surely they know about what they are talking about.

Well, it’s the screen. They had to design around a lower resolution screen which had no backlight. That’s why the colours look washed out, and detail is missing. The GBA is a lot more powerful than the SNES on raw specs, despite what people here tell you. Look at all the FPS and 3D racing games on the platform. They look quite crap for today, but are doing it without any hardware acceleration. Just compare SNES Doom to GBA doom, and Duke Mullen advance is another level. The. v-Rally 3 or Speed Syndicate or even the Need for speed games. The SNES can’t get close to those. The screen though hinders 2d games, but if you look at dedicated games or 32 bit conversions like Rayman it does quite well. Just cropped in a bit.

@@sloppynyuszi - V-Rally 3 on GBA surpasses whatever console version in gameplay department. And yeah SNES couldn't fool us enough to deliver games like Iridion 3D, Top Gear Rally, and Speed Syndicate. That starfox game was horrible. They should have done a Trilogy on N64 and I would've gladly bought'em. No excuses.

@@erikcabral9219 processa sim amigo não confunda velocidade de clock (CPU- unidade central de processamento) que faz cálculos aritméticos e da velocidade aos jogos , com velocidade da GPU (unidade gráfica de processamento) que processa os gráficos e no snes tem duas para unidades dessas para processar a parte gráfica. O mega tem o melhor de velocidade em hardware CPU porem o super tem processamento gráfico e som anos luz ao mega.

@@hallysonvieira2782 Na verdade não, o SNES possui 32.768 e prometia 256 cores por tela, o que é bem menos de 1% só calcular, de qualquer modo o SNES prometia 256 cores simultaneas mas nunca usava esse tanto, a maioria dos jogos não cheva nem a 100 cores e e alguns poucos passou de 150 cores por tela.

Ja o Mega Drive com apenas 512 cores prometia 64 cores simultaneas e ultrapassou esse numero e muito, chegando a ter jogo com 171 cores em tela, mas tbm não chegava a 100 cores na maioria dos jogos, o que prova que tanto Mega Drive Quanto SNES não precisavam usar muitas cores pra ter belos gráficos.

Mega Drive tem jogos com graficos tão belos quanto de SNES, alguns exemplos são Ristar, Alien Soldier, Vectorman, Ex Ranza e Toy Story, entre muitos outros. Eu amo Donkey Kong 2, acho lindo demais, mas o Mega Drive não tem nada de desbotado, pra dizer isso ou a pessoa tem que ser um completo leigo no que diz respeito ao console, ou é fanboy de SNES, talvez as duas coisas.
