When most people hear the word speedrunning they think of something that is very difficult to do. While speedrunning does take a fair amount of skill, everyone learns at their own pace, and nobody should feel bad about learning beginner strats. Today I'd like to prove that you don't need to be a top tier hardcore speedrunner to speedrun, literally anybody can do it.

Sure as hell too. Recently for curiosity I watched a Phantom Hourglass speedrun and saw the runner do this trick with the returning of the boomerang skipping a puzzle. Turns out it is a super easy trick. Aparently there is a similar trick with the hammer item, but it is much harder, but I WANT to learn it. That's not even the one I want to speedrun. I want to speedrun Spirit Tracks, and while there are no big glitches, I exploit the rolling phisics to skip jumps just for bragging rights tho I think it would save a ton of time in theoretical speedrun. Even if I can't land a record, I'd happily be a glitchhunter/ tasser of the game

  • @_Helm_

I think you've found a great concept. Popularizing speed-tech for casual streamers is good both for the speedrunning community internally (potentially more runners) and externally (more positive and instructive 'you do can do this' exposure for the hobby), and good for the casual streamers themselves (visibility boost and ego boost if they manage, and even if they don't, a new twist on their content). I definitely think you should do more of this, the reactions are very human, nothing compares to the happiness of someone learning a new skill in real time and finally achieving a small goal. Try to keep the amount of money symbolic, I would recommend.

I like how you did so many different things at once that radically have different kinds of positive impacts: -You incentive streamers to try out speed running tactics with money, which both supports the streamer while giving a small glimpse into the speed running community. -You intentionally chose smaller streamers with smaller audiences, which engages the runner with their fans and also gives exposure to their channel as well. -You intentionally kept the donation amount to a smaller and more humble amount, which shows that you're not just doing this for clicks or likes, nor are you fishing for reactions from the streamer. -You did not chastise nor humiliate any of the streamers during the video, in fact you actively lent support and encouragement. The pure look and feel of joy these streamers exude when reaching their goal was seriously wholesome. I think at some point, for most of the streamers, the money became irrelevant.

Awesome editing on this one. You're doing great work trying to inspire new runners :) Some input regarding the first segment: it seems his CB was fast enough the whole time. He was just jumping too late after the bash toward the beginning. Turbo nut is the same difficulty/frame timing as fast nut but it isn't used in runs cause it only saves a couple of seconds and is susceptible to lag, which can instantly end a run. Huge risk for a couple of seconds at the tail part of a run.

'Speedrunning itself doesn't require any special talent to get into, but it does take some practice' is the realest thing I've ever heard. I took a stab at Odyssey for my first speedrun -- 3h30m was my (technically second) run of the game, and the run after that was 2h 22m. Nothing record-breaking, but it was so much fun.

I really hope you continue doing this (and get a sponsor so you won't spend your own money), it helps the streamer and the gaming community in many ways.

I am just sad that I ‘only’ stayed a potential speedrunner just because I don’t have enough self-confidence to stream. Actually, I remember that this was interesting idea to when my favorite streamer was playing Deus Ex: Human Evolution, before DE:MD almost came out, and he didn't like DLC that devs put in the middle of the game, so istead of normal playthrough he decided to try pass the level in speedrun way with help from video of actual runner.
