The only guy that can be compared to Art Tatum. All the rest are behind these two and far away. It is a pity and a shame for the music world, that Donald Lambert is unknown. He is such a giant.

In left hand speed he pretty much equals Tatum. All that he lacks in technique is Tatum's right hand virtuosity and signature lines.

Christopher Gontar He reportedly did have the technique to do so, he just didn’t seem to on any recordings. Although I think Tatum has the edge on him by a good margin.

@@emperor1e Are you saying Tatum's fast left hand is usually a little faster than Lambert? -- I think you're right. Or, in what specific way are you saying Tatum is better. I already said Tatum's right hand is better.

Christopher Gontar I was referring to Lambert’s left hand against Tatum’s. I should have made that more clear sorry. I think if Lambert could span a full tenth he could do the stuff Tatum would in say Liza or Elegy.

@@emperor1e Looking at Lambert's hands on film, they seem at least as big as mine, and I can span an 11th, a 10th very easily.

Christopher Gontar He could barely span a minor tenth. We have the same size hands by the way :)
