Al was always outshined by the others but he is a fantastic talent. I’m always happy when I see him getting to do more. And Matt Jardine is awesome! About a year ago I saw the Brian Wilson band with Brian, Al, Matt and Darian Sahanaja as well as some other fantastic members. They were outstanding!! It’s a shame that Brian doesn’t have that sweet falsetto voice anymore but Matt does it really well.

Matt has a great voice just like his Dad who at almost 80 still sings great

I think this is Brian's Master Piece. Sure he had many other great songs that were more intricate in the music, but this speaks to your soul.

Matt's voice is a treasure to help carry on that authentic Beach Boy sound!

Not really. Sounds more like Frankie Valli than Brian. Way too nasally.

Much respect to Al and this band for what they are doing and how well they are doing it.

Matt showing his stuff which is spectacular. The Beach Boys will live on into the future. Great seeing Al getting more to say up on stage.

WOW! Accidentally found this here and....WOW!!!! Loved the song THEN and love it NOW!

I got this 45 when it came out, I think on the flip side of I Get Around. And I had a good stereo, for a 12-year old kid. It was warmest, most beautiful sound. - a glorious mix with lush plate reverb. - just wonderful. Good to see Al Jardine still making beautiful music.

Wendy looks amazing!

Saw them two years ago. Brian was a little slow but Al and Matt carried the load with their fabulous harmonies. Saw the Beach Boys a few weeks ago with Bruce, Mike (still flirting with the ladies and still near perfect vocals), John Stamos (high energy- rocking the drums, guitar and harmonizing.... and as my wife says "hot") , and the new drummer Jon (he crushed it) . Maybe the two bands could join up for a tour. If not I'm thankful for the opportunities to see the "Boys" who epitomized summer fun, cars and surfing for the past 7 decades.

Shea: There was no "B" side as far as this 45 was concerned. These are both "A" quality songs.

Pretty cool. Interesting that Marilyn was the inspiration for this tune and her girls are singing on the chorus. Their dad wrote the song.

I liked Lorrie Morgan Singing this with The Beach Boys too. And Kathy Tricolli too.! But Brain stacked the vocals to the ceiling so it’s really difficult to duplicate without four people harmonizing.!

Totally agree about the Foxes & Fossils version. Really works to have Maggie Adams on lead vocals and the F&F harmonies are flawless. A great tribute to the enduring nature of the Beach Boys. Great to see Al & Co, including the Wilson sisters on this video

Definitely the Foxes and Fossils version is tighter.... but of course this one is "raw live" and theirs is under studio conditions. This one is fun, too.

Sadly, The Beach Boys are no more. The group using this AMAZING band's name is not even a former shell of what The Beach Boys were. (Well, with the exception of a guy who can't play anything.) Alan's band, and Brian's band ARE The REAL Beach Boys. They have all the existing talent. Yes, we ALL miss Dennis Carl, and Carl Dean! (Who named those Boys?) steve

If Al Jardine wasn't present,this would just be karaoke.

It’s actually about a car race, and more specifically the narrator’s girlfriend easing his anxiety about being pressured by his friends to race, making it both a car song and a love song. The car race aspect is specifically mentioned in the line “She told me baby when you race today to take along my love with you,” and is alluded to in the second verse with the lines “I guess I should've kept my mouth shut When I started to brag about my car, But I can't back down now because, I pushed the other guys too far”
