I would edit the end as “don’t get one if you already have the 1st gen ultra”. I went from a GPS only Apple Watch S6 to the Ultra 2 and I absolutely love it. Huge upgrade from the S6.

My S6 just broke on me. But i do work in construction. Heavy equipment. And sometimes i forget to remove watch before wrenching in engine, that and put it through the ringer for the past 2yrs plus. .. Soo I’ve been without for a few months. I just ordered my New Ultra 2 before reading reviews😮. Should be here in 2 days. So I’m glad to read your comment 😮‍💨 😅 thank u

@@Kai88988 Depends which band you choose. I went with the Orange/Beige trail loop so the orange definitely does pop and stand out a bit, you can go with a darker band and it doesn’t really stand out too much.

I upgraded from SE gen 1, the improvement from gen 1 to ultra 2 is still nothing. But, the ultra 2 is look better than the SE, and more durable, other than that are the Apple excuses to let us pay more.

There’s only a $100 difference from the older version which really threw me for a loop. I was waiting to get the older Ultra for a better price than $699.

When I saw that I was like 🤯🤯

I started with the series 2 back in 2016 and kept it until 2022 when I bought the series 8 and then a few days ago I got the ultra 2. main reason is that I scuba dive and instead of using my other cressi dive watch which is huge and clunky I now got the nice ultra 2 with the oceanic app. Absolutely love it so far. I also workout every day so I also use it for that and hiking as well.

I love my Ultra 2 !! Maybe it’s bc I never had an Apple Watch before? I love everything about, especially being able to ask the AI questions and getting legit answers without needing to type.

3000 nits would be ideal on outdoor activities where you don't have to bring your phone all the time. 2000 nits is fine however it could still be pretty hard reading tiny texts notifications on direct sunlight.

2000 nits on the AWU is fine in direct sunlight. The number of times it’s max brightness even on flashlight mode are few and far between.

Just a reminder that nobody who doesn’t make tech videos for a living was even considering upgrading from the 1st gen ultra. I just upgraded from the series 4 and HOLY SHIT this thing is amazing! Hopefully it lasts me another 5 years.

It might be worth it when apple throttle back the ultra 1 chip in the next software update

Apple is facing multiple lawsuits and government inquiries about its decision to throttle processor performance, but the company is adamant that the feature was not introduced to prompt customers to buy a new iPhone. Instead, it is meant to extend the life of an iPhone as long as possible, because in Apple's opinion, an iPhone that occasionally sees slower performance is preferable to one that shuts down.

It’s only worth it if you had an apple watch series 8 or older

I wanted the screen to be a bit brighter when I was diving and I also wanted it to be a bit faster when performing certain actions when tracking specific workouts such as rock climbing. So this is something I see as a pretty great upgrade in terms of performance. I wasn’t looking for anything other than a boost to functionality. Maybe a glucose sensor is one thing I wish they had?

I upgraded to the ultra 2 from my series 3… so realistically it was a huge upgrade for me. If you already have the ultra 1 it’s not a big upgrade sure, but I love it coming from an older version of the watch!

I absolutely hate when people make trash videos complain about small upgrades saying it’s not worth it. No shit. People upgrade every 2-5 years. It’s gonna be an upgrade for lots of people when they are coming from a 2017 apple watch or something

The on device Siri is kind of bigger than we think. I almost only use Siri with my apple watch. So that better reactivity will be really noticeable, more than you think. Add the better processor and the kick double touch. It will fell really reactive. P.S. Double touch is out of accessibility on this watch, cause it can handle it faster in a more natural way.

I laugh cause I NEVER use Siri on my watch. Anytime I accidentally raise my arm wrong and she starts chirping I’m screaming at it to shut up lol

I pre-ordered the 2 but I'm from the Series 7 so hopefully, it'll be a decent upgrade. Maybe I should've gotten the Ultra 1 but it's watever loll

Me too. From the series 7 as well. The Ultra 2 is the same price as the Ultra 1 so why not get the 2. Plus I’m trading in my series 7 so that lowers the price a little too. I just wish the Ultra 2 was in black tho. I really don’t like the orange accents on the Ultra 1 uggh.

I bought the S7 in 2022 & I surf a lot. I rinse it right after I get out of the water & it worked great until it didn’t. I lost the sound. I wasn’t able to hear people talking to me from my watch, but they could hear me. Since I lost the sound, I was unable to use the sound to remove the water from the speaker. The Ultra 2 is going to be my next purchase for what I do. Playing in the ocean & working out.

I would say it’s not worth it to upgrade from an Ultra 1, but it is otherwise a fine purchase. The Ultra 1 is an incredibly solid watch. While the Ultra 2 doesn’t build upon that in a significant way, that doesn’t change its existing merits. I was not expecting them to release anything related to the Ultra for at least another year anyways.

It’s wild how people expect massive upgrades in technology every year.

3000NITS works really well for Pilots and Scuba Divers. If they would have figured out a way to integrate a wireless air module transmitter.. I would have one of these already.

The ultra 2 was the first smart watch I’ve bought to use for nights out and special occasions. The battery lasted me 2 months at one point without a single charge. I don’t find it practical for daily use, working out, and sleep tracking. But paired with titanium band, and holy cow you’re flexing so hard in a room full people at a party.

As someone who lives in the remote Arctic and don’t always have internet everywhere, the on-device siri is a game changer

the only use for this is the birghter display and faster siri when you have poor signal

What about someone going from an older series Apple Watch to the Apple Watch Ultra 2?

I did buy it but only because I was upgrading from a series 6 so its a massive upgrade for me so even if they didn’t really do much in the way of the upgrades I’ll take whatever they did. Also this new alpine loop (not sure if they did this same material and design on the Ultra 1) is super comfortable. I usually don’t even remember I’m wearing the watch. When I had my old Apple Watch, I didn’t usually wear it because the watch was so uncomfortable.

How about the freediving/scuba diving features?

I’m always working out doors so the 3k brightness is a must!!

I think the reason to go with 3000 nits is for like… say you get lost or stuck somewhere on a hike and they can’t find you, turn that sucker all the way up and activate the siren.

Except you won’t be able to fit the watch OS on an older watch after a few more upgrades.

Soooo I should stick with my gen 2 Apple Watch…got it.

Yeah I’m just upgrading from a 6 it’ll definitely be worth it 😂😂. But understand if you already have an Ultra or an 8.

Got mine. Love it. Changed from the 9 to the ultra. If you owned a company and just launched a watch, you would only do a refresh in the next year. If Apple made too many changes, existing ultra watch people would freak out. When they don’t make enough changes in some people’s mind, they make videos like this. It’s an amazing smart watch. Just enjoy it and buy one if you want it.

I upgraded to the the Ultra 2 from a series 1, now to wait until the ultra 10 for my next upgrade

I bought it today 6/3/2024 and love the heck outta this thing. I’m sleeping with it I love it so much.

I got a Series 7 to try out Apple Watch and see if I like it. Jump forward more than a year, I love it, use it a lot, and I'm ready for the real deal. Preordered Ultra 2!

I recommend it, it’s has loads of under the hood upgrades.

Holding onto my Series 7, will upgrade to Ultra the day it offers 3 days battery life. I run, bike with my watch.

Realistically the only new thing about the series 9 and ultra is the double tap that’s actually a really really great feature that you forgot to mention but it’s not worth upgrading. If you don’t have an Apple Watch, it’ll be a great Apple Watch to start with.

Not gonna lie but the s9 makes the experience feel different but the same. The battery has greatly improved and the screen is brighter which is a nice welcome change. They look the same and work different in subtle ways that if you never owned a ultra and you start with the 2 and use the 1 later you’ll notice the difference. Again it’s not a must upgrade but it’s a much appreciated update to the previous one. It’s the same with the AirPods Pro 2 the added changes makes them feel slightly different but with the familiar feel. The way I can search for them now is a much needed update. You really have to go in-depth to understand the difference and know what you’re getting. If you don’t just don’t upgrade because it would go over your head and won’t be missing anything.

Don't upgrade if you have ultra 1st gen, but if you don't, it's still better then the last year. Also, the 3000 nits it's amazing with the flashlight option haha, it's like an actualy flashlight

Apple Watch Ultra 2 is Not so expensive as the First Generation and i bought it because 1 haven't got any apple lat f ultra

As it is, I never use Siri. It's just never worked the way Alexa or Google has. At least not for me. My AWU was a Garmin replacement anyway and I never had to talk to my Garmin so, no reason to start now.

There is one upgrade that a lot of people are missing. Siri will be able to interact with health data. While that may not be a big feature for some, it’s a huge feature for others.

I have the first Apple Watch SE 🥴 I think it would be a major upgrade for me if I get it haha! My current SE is 3 years old and its all scratched up! It still holds up though and I’ll probably pass it along to a family member.

I need the 3000 nits! I work in the construction field. And on them bright hot sunny days, i sometimes couldn’t see my screen. Had to find the nearest shade😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

Oh it's a great watch, don't get me wrong. This was a video for the budget conscious, as you can get the first Gen Ultra at a pretty steep discount with nearly all the same functionality :)

It'd be nice if Apple came out with an elegant round watch.

I mean… if you’re in the market get it. I have an AWU and it’s a great smartwatch just on battery life and durability alone.

The 9 has everything I want -2 things that I don’t… I’m OK with the screen size and it’s only 500 bucks compared to 800. I was waiting for the ultra. I’m glad I’m gonna stick with the 9 instead

If anything buy the ultra 1 possibly at discount. It’s the exact same watch

You forgot to mention the double tap feature. I’d say if you don’t have the Apple Watch and you want the Ultra then definitely get the 2 otherwise it’s not worth the upgrade if you already have one.

Best thing of the ultra watch is that you can pretty much ditch your iPhone and leave it at home so it doesn’t distract you.

Too late, I wasn’t happy with my series 6.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch that doesn’t connect to my iPhone, good reason to buy the Ultra 2.

I'll buy an apple watch when the battery life can span 4 days... it took apple to release the iphone 4 for me to not step backwards, the same applies to the watch.

I bought it today, my last Apple Watch was the 7, I’m ok with paying 300 more for the watch over the original.

Coming from the SE Gen 2 it’s a welcomed change

There’s no difference in price even if I go to Australia’s version of Best Buy, it’s the same price, only difference is that I will be able to trade my series 6 in at Apple and get more for it

I believe that Apple will not bring a black version despite bringing a black titanium color on iPhone 15 Pro, because this watch is an adventure watch to be beat up and scratches will be visible easily on a black version
