You can purchase those ndoor/outdoor extension cord protective covers they are also water-resistant. The cover protects the cord's connection from rain, snow, and ice. Thanks for sharing.

Now that the posts are concreted in ground cut a square little bigger then the post in the planters and slide them down the post. Plant flowers and/or herbs.

We purchased the same plastic Barrels and had the same results. What happens with the plastic barrels is that they are curved at the bottom and have zero grip unlike natural oak barrels that typically have an edge and will grab onto the soil. As a result, plastic ones cause them to literally just roll over to their sides every time with the weight and the tights pulling on them. In the end your project turned out great.. thank for the video and safe..

I used the half barrel wooden barrels for mine - and instead of 4x4' use landscaping timbers. The big barrels are wider and more stable, the landscape timbers don't have as much weight and are still thick enough to stay straight.

Spotted this after watching some other diy lights with whiskey barrels. I think the reason why those others do go with wood and real whiskey barrel bottoms is because of the weight and to prevent knocking over. Those plastic ones are skinny and not as wide as real barrels. Nice outcome though!

Using a larger whiskey barrel (actual half barrel) is much more stable. Attach via bracket to the bottom of the barrel. Add some cement pieces to the bottom and fill with soil and plants.

If you used actual wooden whiskey barrels- not cheap plastic this would’ve actually worked. I don’t think you all should deter people from this when it’s users error- not the whiskey barrels fault. If done correctly- the whiskey barrels are so cute- especially when you fill with cement bricks and then make them planters.

second Mistake is you need support wire or guidewire fore the lights That why hole on top of socket and cable. you can buy 12 -14 Ga wire 100 feet put eye hook on top your poles. fix the wire to the and neat rape wire around it self about four or more then cut wire . you can use s hooks on each light or if take down for winter wire tie . talk about wire tie use one each side of the plugs or you can thinner wire rape two time cross plug and rape two time twist wire together. code say over 8 feet the cord will break heat and cold. Happy Easter How is the water wheel.

As chance would have it, I was looking at doing this project and panicked that you'd ruined my plan to impress my wife lol! I think had wooden barrels been used, they would have provided enough support for the concrete to setup in vs the plastic. That is my hope at least, that's what I'll end up tryin....fingers crossed haha. Love your guys content, just stumbled across you tonight.

My husband and I enjoy your channel so much. We liked watching you build the cabin from the ground up. I wanted to tell you something that I recently learned about old, claw-foot tubs. My daughter and son-in-law remodeled the bathroom of their 1917 four-square house and installed an old cast iron claw foot tub. Their 2 year old son, my grandson, tested high for lead levels after a routine blood test. They were advised that it could be from the tub. They kept Simon out of the tub for 6 weeks and had his lead level checked again recently and it's back to normal. Praise God! Couldn't say for sure that it was the tub, but it looks like that was it. God bless you all!

No offence, but these are cheap plastic small ‘barrels’ and of course they don’t support anything. You need some thick, heavy, large and legitimate half barrels or whisky barrels. Don’t get me wrong, the barrels you have would make awesome planters and decorations, but trying to support the poles with them is a bad idea. Another idea I got from other vids is to fill the barrels with bricks or small concrete blocks to weigh it down.
