My brother wouldn't stop leaving his dirty clothes all around his room. Mum refused to wash them unless he put them in the laundry, when he ran out of school uniforms he had to go to school in normal clothes and tell the principal why he didn't have a uniform... He got detention. Nice move.

My daughter was the same. All she had to do was get her clothes from the bedroom to the laundry. When she flounced in one morning demanding I write a note for being out of uniform, I did. To who it may concern, X is out of uniform because despite being reminded, she refused to put her clothes in the laundry. She didn't get detention, but every time she had to show the note, she was met with laughter.

For laundry. Old friends of mine had an only son. At home he literally left a trail of clothes as he went to bed. After he married he thought he could continue. They were both medical doctors at that stage. His wife got so fed up that one day, when she was home and he was working, she washed every item of clothing she could find. Leaving it all wet when he got home. Told him she didn't know what was clean or dirty. He behaved like an angel for her after. At his parents he continued to leave a trail. Just for future reference should you you need to housetrain a partner. ;)

I’m not saying having kids isn’t the most important and selfless thing you can do, or that all the stress and heartache isn’t worth it. I’m just casually mentioning that this video makes me feel ecstatic about my childless status. But good on parents! They send me photos of their kids to let me know I missed out, I send them videos of how I managed a trip to the beach in less than an hour.

There’s nothing selfless about having children. If you ask anyone why they want kids, it’s always “because I want…” Either someone to take care of them when they’re older, or someone to help around the house, or even to fulfill an instinctual need. It’s always for a selfish reason. It’s also not important… we have enough humans in the world and the only thing pumping out new ones is ultimately doing is creating more pawns for the workforce. Sorry for being that person, but by saying having kids is the most important thing you can do is implying that anyone who is childless isn’t doing anything important in their lives.

@@HermesTheLoser That is a pretty broad-based assumption. No one can tell you what it's like to have kids until you do and people have many reasons to go down that path. I agree there are too many people in the world as it is, and our impact on the world is incredibly worrying. However kids are an incredibly important part of society and making sure they grow up to have a positive impact on society is often an overlooked responsibility that all parents take on and worry about. Society and everything you enjoy in life will eventually stop if we don't keep growing and nurturing strong, resilient. respectful and positive children. Obviously, I am a parent myself and the only way I can explain it is higher highs and lower lows... however I feel the vast majority of parents just want to nurture and grow kids that take the best of their parents and have a positive impact on society. If you choose not to have kids there is nothing wrong with that however, don't then call people that have kids selfish it's all a choice that is upto the individual and people have many reasons why they do or don't.

I know parents who did this. They were close family friends, still are. They have 3 children, 2 girls and the youngest a boy. The boy around the age of 13 or 14 was repeatedly told to clean up after himself, keep his room clean, etc. normal and reasonable. A struggle that many parents face. The boy loved gaming and computers, unusual at the time as they were relatively new. His parents were upper middle class, the family enjoyed a high quality of living experiences. Their home was large and beautiful. The kids had their own separate living space, upstairs, own bathrooms, lounge room, decks, etc. Anyways back to the point, the boy, like many teenagers took these threats of “throwing everything away” if he did not clean up his room as hollow, empty and meaningless. One day after school he returned home, went to his room, his room was clean and spotless. Unfortunately for him, all his belongings were gone, his parent threw everything out, that was not cleanly placed away. His bed was not made. All the linens thrown away, computers and games on the floor, thrown, clothing laying on the ground, thrown, books, homework scattered around the room, all thrown away. All his belongings in the bathroom, towels, clothing, soap, anything out of place and not clean, thrown away. He was left with pretty much nothing, but for the school uniform he was wearing and his school bag. He had to get a job to buy brand new items that his parent had once given him, including school books. The parents owned several businesses so getting part time employment at such a young age wasn’t an issue. He now has children of his own, so does his sisters, while their parents were harsh, they were extremely generous with all their 3 children, they only wanted them to respect what they were given. They are all very successful in their own right. He believes to this day that this lesson changed him for the better, very quickly 😂. Straight away his attitude flipped. I recall going to his house after this event and the “upstairs space” for the kids and his room/bathroom from that point onwards was extremely clean and very well organized. It took a good year or so for him to gain a little back (brand new from his own pocket) and him being extremely committed to never having his belongings thrown away again before his parents started buying extra luxuries for him again. (Higher quality, higher priced, branded clothing, games, electronics, etc. He had learnt his lesson and truly believes it made him successful. Him, his siblings and his parents are extremely close and all are multimillionaire’s. Me - knowing all of this, seeing it, was given had the same threats, somehow I did not register that this could also happen to me. I didn’t change my messy ways, my parents did not throw away my belongings, maybe it would have been much more difficult for me, my parents, while not poor were not as financially as well off as his parents, I would not have been able to get a part time job at that age, maybe they should of done what his parents did, looking back this would of been a very valuable lesson.

My grandmother had to find different people that lived near them that were headed home & asked if 1 or 2 of them could hitch a ride. Thankfully everyone got home safely...I'm also thankful that my dad never actually left any of us behind even when we weren't in the car when he said to be lol.

My friend ditched her under 10 year old children on a 90 km dirt road in South Australia. My Aunt and Uncle happened to be driving on the same road and were astonished to see two kids and quickly realised they knew the kids on the side of the road. Pulled up told them to get in .. got up the road a couple kilometres to see my friend parked waiting for them. They took a kid each and met up again at my mothers place. My mothers threat for kids fighting was to stop or she will bash heads together and she did once to two of my brothers. She suggested the idea to my friend…. as a safe alternative to ditching your kids on the side of the road. 😂😂😂

My son used to jump on his scooter inside, i told him if he did again I was going to put it in the bin as the next day was garbage day, well I forgot to take it back out before the bins got emptied. Did he learn a lesson no I did though as I had to buy another scooter lol

I would not have bought another scooter, that defeats the purpose of the threat. A new scooter is a reward, not a punishment
