Don't Shrink Your Shemagh!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Shemaghs are great additions to your kits, but like all good items, they require proper maintenance and cleaning. Clean your shemagh IMPROPERLY and you may very well ruin its usefulness. #shemagh #keffiyeh

If you put the shemagh in a mesh bag I bet an agitator could be used

Would you recommend these for hiking at all or would it be unnecessary for that role?

I think they are great for hiking. They are made of 100% cotton so are very versatile. They can be soaked and worn around the neck for cooling. In intense heat, they can be used to protect your ears and neck from sunburn. In addition, shemagh can be used as a sling, a filter for water with lots of debris (though it might still need to be properly sanitized), a bandage, or as a bundle for carrying items. The threads can be used to repair clothing and the fabric can be charred and used to start a fire, if necessary.

@@CowboySurvival so materialistically are these any different from keffiyeh? Or because there's seem a bit more purpose made would it be better to just stick to a solid shemagh instead?

A Keffiyah and a Shemagh are essentially the same thing.

@@CowboySurvival final question sorry, I'm a very fair skinned person (ginger) would there be one that is greater than the other in terms of UV protection?

@@gavinsmith6108 I have no idea. I suppose you could ask for a UV rating. I would think that adding a good sunscreen might help.
