    I've dealt with bargin bin to cheap coilovers for a long LONG time on multiple cars. And most of those cars weren't even mine. Just people that have suspension issues and/or wanted to upgrade a bushing or replace the springs to something stiffer. Of course, you know how Wisconsin winter is and they will corrode the hell out of all these cheaper coilover systems. It's why for my current car, I went with KW V3s. Even when I replaced the springs on them, the bottom spring perch still managed to loosen up and spin freely without much of any corrosion issues. Now, I tell people to just spend the money instead of wasting so much money on the cheaper stuff because the cheaper stuff will be disappointing.

    Needed a budget coilover for drifting my 240sx s13, it was maxspeeding rods (twintube) or JDMspeed (monotube) that are around $250. Got the JDMspeed (monotube, nonadjustable) for shits and giggles, definitely felt it was better than my 15yr old Powertrix (monotube, nonadjustable). The goal is to drift the 240 twice a year on a skid pad and maybe some light driving around the street (100 miles a yr). Rev9 was my other option for $530 that was monotube w/ adjustable.

So far from what ive seen they are comparable to other brands in the $1000 range but they offer some customization that others dont offer and they can cater your suspension to your car and what your trying to do with it like a daily driver you like to do some cutting with in Mexico or a drift car...

    TruHart coilovers on my VA WRX after I ran TruHart damper/springs on my 02 Civic for 2 years. Daily. Adjustment matters. Expensive coilovers won’t trump knowledge.

  • @MartiniWorksOfficial

    @MartiniWorksOfficial

    3 ай бұрын

    Always important to dial it in; totally agree. Problem is SO many people exclusively use price to determine a purchase. We know that price matters #1, but there are a few things where we don't think the price is worth the quality. For instance, Truhart is likely locked in for you after maximizing the fine adjustments, whereas a more robust coilover might just have the tolerances built in so you don't need to dial it in (even though you should) Kinda like a Mazda Miata on track vs. a brand new M2. The Miata can chase the M2 down if there's an experienced person behind the wheel in the same way the M2 could run a good lap because the car is just properly good from factory. Hard discussion, but totally agree!

    I concur that the flex z's are good for the price. I have a set on my ek hatch. The shocks are matched to the springs they are paired to. Damping adjustments are definitely noticeable too. They are good for normal every day driving and track days/auto cross. The car doesn't get unsettled with undulations on the road or the rumble strips/berms on the track.

    @MartiniWorksOfficial where do I start? 1. Imported Taiwanese housing, so we have reduced suspension travel. (BC, feal, and Fortune are all guilty for this, they said their coilovers are designed for lowered ride height. But it's just another way of telling us their coilovers have less than OEM suspension travel -> trash) 2. Rebound biased valving, so in order to get good low speed compression for the platforming we sacrificed a lot of rebound. More rebound = jacking down over bumps. 3. Bad customer experience, it took them 3 months to build me a set of fa510. Some people still didn't get their ots coilovers from their 2023 Thanksgiving sales. 4. High nitrogen precharge that will add harshness to the ride quality. It also increases the stiffness to the already existing spring rates Do you want me to continue?

    @@MartiniWorksOfficial You have a GR86 right? Why don't you get some RCE SS-2 then do another video of coilovers? I promise you, the RCE's stuff will change your mind on selling these junks to us.
