I had a 1990 K5 Blazer that would always overheat. Replaced everything in the cooling system and still would run hot. I pulled out the thermostat and ran it like that with no issues for two years, no overheating. The only thing about running with no thermostat is, it did take longer for the engine to get up to temp.

I’ve seen cars run cold for the most part. I found it interesting that the article said it could also cause overheating, which I could see happening maybe stopped in traffic, but I also didn’t think it was very common

@@nickmacias00 the fuse should be the same amperage so it blows sooner than later. It sounds like an over charge situation (perhaps the regulator on the alternator failed and let it continue to produce output rather than turn off).

Usually honda thermostats become open after 70 or 80 thousand miles. But the thermostat itself is a restrictor like some race classes have in the intake . Guess that works out to keep it from flowing too fast. But still i feel the effects through the air vents. Hot or cool depending if oil is thin ir thick . Funny thing, in January i took off the air dam that blocked cold air from goin into the engine bay up a reverse y pipe drawing cold air from beneath. I thot hot engine heat would suck thru it but it actually made the vents blow cold at the red light. Guess that helmholtz resonator had a purpose lol. So i then took off the stupid beauty cover like scotty said. Finally the hot air was escaping to the intake pipe. It was only slightly better so i took off the bottom portion of the airbox to draw air from the engine and have that weird helmholtz resonator that was just clipped behind the driver headlight hold up the air filter with the help of 22° spectre pipe. I adjust the placement from being halfway in the way of the filter since 30-50° contains more air and i wanna run lean and keep it warm In the summer tho it was too restrictive making it inefficient run hot and shake in high lift ..had to move that 22° spectre more out the way toard the factory fresh air split y pipe . Guess the other opened up end can make a dual intake lol

There is an article in the description about it. It is true the car typically runs cooler without it, but it can cause an overheating condition stopped in traffic. Besides that, there are a lot of negative effects as the video states, with the car trying to warm up and not lubricate properly etc
