Born and raised in Miami. Standard of living has exploded in the city since 2020, but salaries across the board have only risen somewhat. Miami has essentially become Los Angeles but without the same level of pay. Completely unsustainable long term. Housing prices have to go down, or wages gotta go up substantially otherwise expect an ongoing exodus from the city.

Cybersecurity, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, and Data Engineering. Do it right now. It's a whole lot of people here now, (migrants) They are here to get JOBS. If you are in a job or career that doesn't pay well, you might want to consider moving quickly.

Miami is for rich bachelors, OF chicks, unfaithful husbands, h0e trips, party trips and tourists. Theres no middle class there. You either have, or have not. My bro lives there, but he's a doctor. If you dont make at least 6 figures, it's gonna be real rough out there forreal. if you want a family or want to date someone seriously, good luck. An alternative to miami is ft lauderdale. Still expensive but a little less of a fast life culture, and it's only 45 min away.

BREAKING NEWS: Few of the MAJOR U.S. cities are great places to live for average people. The other places Anton mentioned like LA and NYC are also difficult places to live (unless you have a ridiculous amount of money). Sadly many of the more reasonably priced cities will eventually become overpriced too with people flocking to areas where they can "get a deal".

I was raised in Miami and just left last year afer 40 years. Miami is a playground for people who already have money. It's generally not a place you go to make money. The real Miami natives aren't the people driving nice cars (unless it's rented for the weekend 😂). They're your waiters, chefs, uber drivers, and hotel staff. I finally left when I traveled and realized there's more to life than just making ends meet. I'm able to save and invest more where I am now while still living in an upper middle class area. There are also much better school systems and resources for raising children elsewhere.

70% of the exotic cars are rentals. Miami is all perception, nobody is living that yacht/Lambo life every single day, who has time for that? But it's that perception that keeps the city making money because ppl aspire to be that. Locals do go to the beach and get out, but not South Beach! That's like going to Time Square aka a nightmare! A lot of ppl would rather go places with less ppl and that are less expensive. Why would locals want to pay tourist prices on a daily? Moving from NYC to Miami in 2020 I came for peace, I avoided the high rises and kept it residential. If I wanted high rises and a densely populated environment I would have stayed in New York.

This is the same case in all large city's around the world. in the 70- early 90s the middle class lived in suburbia. But when the factory's where shipped offshore ( China) out of the urban centers, they started to transform the city center with " gentrification" pushing out the poor/working class. The new " Land lord class" owns the property in big city`s and rent it out to the middle class. Alot of people in the middle class also like to fake beeing more posh/rich than they are so they rent in a more expensive part of the city. But over time they don`t grow capital and are pushed down to the lower part of the middle class because of their " financial illiteracy" The smart way to stay in the middle class and don`t fall down is 1: Own property, that you can afford. Not luxury 2: Live minimalistic with few but high quality posessions 3: Don`t buy a expensiv car 4: Invest in index funds, high quality stock.

Dope perspective bro... Im from NY. I moved down here 7 years ago with my wife and family. We came for the same vibe you explained.. straight paradise, everyday even on a bad day! Youre 100% right.. it can do both. Inspire you to be better or get you caught up in trying to live a life you havent earned yet!. I experienced both... I first got caught up, but having a family helps lol. I snapped out of it and realized the true miami life comes in time. We were able to buy a home, build credit and start dope careers in that 7 years. Now, we can get back to enjoying that true miami life, responsibly of course! PLUS!!!! on the low... the places outside of the tourist area are better, more affordable and still give the paradise vibe. Also, I dont LIVE in Miami... im like 40mins north, so thats different from trying to live in actual Miami. Thats a BIG NO! for your bank account.

Miami is a great city, but you can definitely get distracted easily, and become lost. But remember, this is just one side of Miami; the beach. For “regular” folks like me, there’s plenty of quiet spots on the mainland that are free of most of the distractions on the beach. This is especially true for most major cities, but I believe the party culture of Miami can make one miserable.

I am in Seattle too, I feel like Seattle is more work and family oriented, not too much night life focused. So in that way it’s not balanced, and I don’t get the stimulation I need here unfortunately, I do love the climate most of the time, however the constant lingering cloudiness gets to me, of course you’re going to need sun at some point. Doesn’t even start warming up till may, then back in the cooler weather in September. Miami is completely tipped on the other side, too much night life, no serious corporate side, couldn’t even get rest when I was there because the energy was constant.

Miami is great to visit but I can’t see myself living there even if I’m a millionaire. I agree Anton there is no off button in Miami. I grew up in NJ/NYC area and it’s the same thing no off button lol I live in Delaware for 18 years now and it’s perfect for me.

I woke up this morning trying to decide wether i want to stay in Miami and continue to hold onto a situation thats not benefiting me directly or just put my apartment up for rent, take the money and move back to ATL, Houston or Fort Lauderdale, this video helped me make my mind up. Ive been in Miami 4 years now and my life has gone to shit the longer ive stayed. Ill sum it up like this....if youre "Hispanic" and you speak "spanish" then you may love Miami. Outside of that you need to gwt back to "Normal" life

What ANTON said was spot on!! The cost of living here in Miami is expensive. You can let the fancy cars and designer clothes lead you to believe everyone down here is getting money. There are a lot of people barely making it. Tourist and people move here to work remote from places like NYC and San Francisco to name a few are able to afford 3K plus a month for the nicer apartments. Locals are being pushed out every day further up north. Come visit and go back home. Miami isn’t for everyone to come live and get rich quick.

My wife and I visited Miami the week before christmas. We went to Brickell on the first day and we so BORED. It was just very expensive and actually very lame. It seems its just for posers trying to look rich. I guess if it makes people happy to try to give off that image I guess that's the area for you. But its a very boring area. We have the money to afford stuff but also we aren't going to throw away money just because we want people to think we have it. Doesn't matter to me what people think. Went to Aventura mall the next day which is supposed to be a cheaper mall and it was much better. We also went to Lincoln road and those places actually were better over all. We have recently started travelling alot over the last 2-3 years and this is what we have realized. Most places try to curate and recommend the most expensive livestyles or paths for tourists and there is alot of undeserved hype for many tourist destinations. When you get there you actually have to ask yourself is this it? Is this what people were saying is so great etc. Our trip to Bahamas is actually the worst trip we ever had. We made the best of it but we were shocked at how bad it actually was for the money that we paid and how hyped Bahamas is. I feel like alot of persons once they get to the destinations they just try to console themselves by posting pictures and saying how great it was as they dont want to feel stupid.

Wynwood is a relatively affordable neighborhood in Miami, and there are other areas nearby like Coral Gables that are still within reach for middle class incomes. SoBe lifestyle is nice but doing that every day even pulling in mid to high six figures or even moderate seven figures is unsustainable.

Agreed w/ everything you said Miami is def one of a kind…I grew up in Wash DC. Nations capital also attracts many tourists, but also as of late, many transplants are moving to the city now as well…natives never/if rarely, go downtown to visit the White House or the monuments. Museums at that…only time you’ll catch me downtown is for a Wizards game or some new restaurant/speakeasy.

When I moved to miami from PHX in 2013, miami was cheaper to live in than PHX. Even then, making $7k/month was on the average scale. Hurricane Irma brought in all the big money so $125k/yr might as well be poverty level there. I’ve since relocated north to Sebring as I no longer require what Miami has to offer. I don’t miss the traffic, rude people, and no longer have to feel like I need to conceal carry everywhere in case something were to pop off. My cost of living here is down 75% from Miami-Dade county. This area is far more conducive to family living than there. I think Miami is best suited for single millionaires between 30-50.

I think it is the new norm. It all goes back to what Ericka Williams and Diamond Dave said, "Get some skills or take the deal." Because what you described is the perfect example of the great divide in America with the Have or the Have Nots. Those that have will reside wherever they please and enjoy the best that life has to offer, and the Have Nots will continue to be pushed out to locations undesirable, getting the crumbs of life. Where unfortunately the manifestation of crime and hate will increase.
