DON'T make this MISTAKE | Golf Clubs EXPLAINED
Спорт
In this video Danny Maude talks golf clubs in the hope you don't make the mistake he himself made when he was an amateur golfer. He reveals what's in his golf bag but more importantly what should be in yours.
As a professional golfer Danny has a driver swing and iron swing that will suit a specific type of golf club. As a beginner golfer or regular amateur golfer you will have your own unique golf swing too.
It's so important therefore to understand not what brand of golf club you should go for but instead what style of golf club would suit you based on your age and ability.
Also learn what goes inside the bag. For instance Danny takes YFOOD, a healthy energy drink that helps to maintain his energy in the back nine. With no rubbish in it it gives him all the nutrition he needs. You can learn more about it here:

ABOUT DANNY

Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZread and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you strike a ball with an iron. If you are looking for how to hit a ball straight with an iron, or want to know how to hit the ball first with irons then these golf drills will give you much better golf ball contact so that you can strike your irons pure.
I believe they are the easiest and best golf irons drills you can use
Also get to see the golf ball contact in slow motion

Most consistent golfer I ever played with and learned from was an older gent. He had 3 utility clubs and a putter. Had a slight fade. Every hole, he’d tee off with a 70% swing.. right to the middle of the fairway... par 4 or 5, same club, same shot. Never went at a tough pin, always for the fat part of the green. then two put.,, into his 70’s skinny, arms like twigs.., Better than single bogie every round....Taught me to play within myself and manage the course. Thanks Dave (you know who you are!)

I learned a lot from a man like him. No driver, used a 5 wood off the tee. Had something like a 6 handicap at the local muni. He took a lot of money from out of town folks.
As a beginner (really - three months in) loving the great game of golf (and regretting not having started twenty years ago when I first considered it), you are a godsend Danny. You're consistently providing useful, actionable and understandable advice even for the novice. Love this video, it's allowed me to understand the different styles of clubs and their purpose better than the many other videos I've watched. Your drills also help me immensely. Cheers!
It’s amazing watching what happens when the KZread community finally finds someone who does a great job. The subscriber base begins to explode. I’ve been watching since you were down around the 100k mark and it seems only yesterday that I was congratulating you on reaching the 300k mark. Congrats on 400k subscribers Danny! You are an awesome teacher. Your success is well deserved and one half million is coming soon. Well done!!
Danny Maude, I watch all your videos, but this is by far the most honest, informative video I've seen on KZread by any pro instructor, especially explaining Why we should have the various clubs in our bags.. roll on 500k followers 👍👍

Really great video, Danny. Loads of useful tips for a beginner like me. Especially the realisation that I'm carrying far too many clubs round with me and that those hybrids gathering dust in my garage might be more useful than the 5 and 6 irons in my bag. Cheers.
Love your vids because they are aimed at the amateur. Too many KZread golf vids talk as though we are all a budding rory. This has been really helpful to all weekend golfers.

Great video. I have recently found golf again after 20 years. Things (club wise) have changed so much with hybrids and all the wedges you can get. The most lofted club I had was a PW. I could not decide which loft(s) to go for, but it makes sense to go for a 56 instead of buying for the sake of it, then I can see if I need anything else in the future.
Thanks Danny for keeping it real and honest and helpful !!

Best instructor on the net, hands down. Your videos have help my wife and myself tremendously. Shot a 74 the other day after practicing your techniques. Thank you for being you! Simply the best
Just came across this, 2 yrs late 😂, but timeless good advice, thank you. One thing though that I will mention; first I agree that fitting is helpful, but more so if you can find an independent fitter, going to any golf equipment dealer (store), I and quite a number of people I’ve been in touch with, find that the dealers are somewhat in a hurry, not taking enough time and will push for high end ( expensive) equipment and therefore loose interest if a beginner/economic set is what’s being what’s looked for. It’s amazing to see the attention you get if your looking at a SC putter, as an example. Thanks for good, instructive videos, especially the ones geared towards more experienced (older) players.
Really interesting and love the honesty and explanations - the best thing I did was go for a custom fitting - have total confidence that the clubs in my bag are right for me so one thing less to worry about - the next thing is to really understand your carry yardages and be honest about that when choosing the right club for the shot - many good scores are ruined by egos!! Always a good vlog Danny - cheers!

I play of 10HCP and have just changed my bag set-up. I’ve replaced my 4-6 irons to sim max hybrids. 7-Pw Hot Metal Pro, 52 and 58 degree wedges. Best thing I’ve done for my golf game, I had no confidence in the long irons, now I look forward to a 180-210 shot. Leave the ego in the car park, play what is best for your game👌

I agree. I am off 10 and replaced my 5 iron with a hybrid. Probably do the same with the 6 iron soon to be honest. I have driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 4 hybrid, 6-GW, 52,56, 60 and putter
Excellent advise. I have been playing golf for over 50 years from my days playing college golf until now when I'm in my mid-70's and that's about the score I shoot now. What has changed is what is in my bag over the years. I've lost distance with every club and the middle of the bag is where I've made my changes. I have Mavrik Max 3 hybrid through 7 hybrid, then 8 through PW, 5W and a 61 degree. My Rouge driver is 10.5 and I have a Rouge 3W so my 3 hybrid replaces my 5W. The hybrids really help my game with a slower swing speed and more loft than the irons would have provided. Thanks for all your great videos. I'm a big fan and you have helped my game because you are never too old to learn something new.

I've got a driver swing speed of about 85 to 90mph. Recently bought xxio 11blue set The 7 and 9 woods have quickly become my favourites. I can get my 7 wood further than old 3 and 5 wood on average. I tend to pick the ball from the turf rather than take a divot so I finish my irons at 6, then use my woods.

Great vlog Danny. I’ve been playing for years and recently have struggled with club head speed. No particular reason but probably not as flexible as I was. Anyways just like you have alluded to I have now got a set of ping G410 irons (6 - PW). Did get fitted for a 5 iron but not much between the 5 & 6 irons. So bought 5 ping crossover to give a better gapping. G410 ping 4 hybrid, SIM Max 7 wood, cobra 5 wood and 12 degree SIM Max driver. All helping get airborne for the carry distance, to what I used to get. Just had to get over the stigma of a 12 degree driver but eh it works and I am playing competitively again.

Definitely Danny. I’ve learned from some hard and expensive lessons over the years that the right fit/type of clubs and ball are so so important to your game. I do think though that experienced/good fitters are in short supply in certain parts of the UK. I live in the Norwich area and know that a lot of shop pros, although, wanting to do it right, simply are not able to due to the lack of equipment, knowledge, and/or experience they have.
Congratulations, Danny. You deserve it

Biggest game changer was ditching the 3w for the 5w. Most shots after the fairway wood is an iron, chip or putt anyways. Other is the versitile 56 wedge. Currently running 12 clubs in a stand bag and lowering.
Very interesting video Danny. I actually use a 5 and 7 wood as I have so many instances of getting a good drive away and the ruining the next shot by using 3 wood. Over here in Queensland Australia certainly need the iced cold water when we hit summer. 😀🦘🦘

Excellent video, thanks. I am a senior golfer who always carries my bag - and wish to continue to carry even as I age further. So like to have a minimalist “set” of clubs. Currently Ping G25 driver, Minzuno Fli Hi 5 utility, and JPX900 7,8,9,PW, GW and S18 56 wedge. All the Mizuno clubs are on Project X LZ 70g graphite shafts. I have a 6 iron and a Ping 5 wood that I now just leave at home. What I would like to do is leave the 8 and PW clubs at home for casual rounds - and learn how to “take something off” the 7 and 9 irons to compensate. Any chance of you doing a vid on how to vary distance for a given club? I commend minimalist golf - the freedom of walking directly to the ball, keeping fit, and the aesthetics so suits a links course!

I stick to two wedges, honma tw-w4 50 and 58 degree. I find 58 is very versatile with several different types of shots covered from within 80 yards, and green side bunkers. The 50 is also quite versatile within 100 yards and can be used for a bump and run when you need more feel than a 9 iron.

Depending on the weather..!
First time viewing your videos and advice, have to agree with alot of the comments its probably the simplest and easiest to do and apply.
Great video, I especially like the emphasis on club fitting. How good a player should you be to make a club fitting worth-while? I have a 21.4 index but have been playing around 90 this year. 5 or so games below 90. I generally play from whatever tee is around 6000 yards or less. If I play courses around 6300 yards I struggle to keep my score below 95.
@DanielMaude

I think it would be certainly worth having a fitting as it’s shouldn’t be just about buying new clubs but instead getting advice about the combination of clubs you need
Hi Danny, another great video I’m going to watch you a couple more times before I subscribe. My game is garbage right now. Thinking about adding scotch to my bag😂. What do you think about the single plane swing? Anyway, stay safe my friend.
I like how your pro clubs looks exactly like my 1990's beginner set of clubs. No offsets, fat fairway woods etc. The other week I got a comment about getting me a driver as the person I played with thought my driver was a 3 wood :). As I did not play for some 15 years I now used the fall season low prices to upgrade irons and driver to new ones. Odd thing is how little it after all did to my scores. Especially as I actually did spend a fair amount of money... But, the graphite shafts are a lot more easy on the under arms when I miss the ball a bit (which I do a lot) so it is still worth it I think. I guess a bad player will stay bad no matter the clubs used.
Fanny, you’re the best that happened to me except my Wife and kids. Never vad so much fun with my golf since you made me understundand what it’s all about. Congratulations 400...

Excellent video Danny! This is a video that the golf club/ball/and accessory companies don't like to see, but it is very important. Everyone likes to emulate a professional they like. Took me till I was 50 (which was many years ago) to realize using the clubs they do would be like jumping in a Formula 1 car and think you could go out and win a race. You'd be lucky to get it out of the pits! Perfect example; some of the hackers that I play a round with insist on using A Titlest Pro V1x. That's way too hard for a guy that has an 80mph club head speed and an 18 handicap! I remember how hard it was to play with blade irons, but did reasonably well with persimmon woods. When investment cast cubs came out, it felt like I was cheating. I hit my irons so much better. When I bought my first new style Callaway Driver, I had a little difficulty with the appearance how big the head of the driver was. Kind felt like hitting the ball with a Bass Fiddle! Anyway, cheers for making this really special video! At some point, similar to this video, would like to see how you properly warm up, at the range before a round. Like, what club do you start with, what do you try to accomplish, and what are your thoughts through this process. Always a pleasure Danny! (Wrote to Chris Ryan and apologized for using him as a comparison when your Dad watched his video instead of yours. He sent back a really nice note, and praised you with highest regard)

Thanks for sharing the note with Chris, he was fantastic when I started KZread. I gave him a call and he was more than happy to point me in the right direction as to what to do and how to do it. Both him and Andy from MeandMyGolf were the only people that took my call.
I always play the best ball I can find.... while searching for the one I’m playing.

Yes, I play the OPB brand as well (OPB, other people's balls)

When people ask me what I shot, I'll say +2 - which translates to this. I FOUND 6 balls and lost 4... = +2
As a single digit nothing new for me, but I think this video can be very very helpful for any mid and high handicapper, that too often plays with the wrong equipment.
Good advice, thanks.

Hi Danny. Another great vid 👍. Well done on 400k. Would love to see a video on how you use the “Orange Whip” that you’ve got in the bag. Take care.

Yes, I was going to add it to this video but noticed the video was getting longer and longer 😁
I’m an older guy now at 55. I recently put away the 3 and 4 irons and picked up two ping G400 hybrids, 19 and 22 degrees. Best decision I’ve made this year. Much easier to hit, easy on the back, and increased distance with less dispersion.

That’s great Ronald, thanks for sharing
I think I sent ypu my list of WITB!! My hybrids vary from 15 degrees (3 Hybrid) to 25 degrees (5 hybrid) I also have a #hybrid with 19 degree loft. I interchange my woods, drivers, and hybrids depending on the course. All of my irons, 5 down to Lob wedge are the same length. Very simple! My swing doesn't change all that much from iron to iron nor does the position of the ball. My irons are between a 7 iron and 6 iron long. I was fitted. That's what works for me! I think that is your point. Once you become semi-serious about your game, get fitted!

Hey Ross, hope you are keeping well 👍
I've been using a set of ping g15 irons with steel shafts, and I've noticed a drop in my distance as well as an increasing lack of difference in distance between the clubs. I noticed your comments about graphite shafts for senior golfers, I'm 71. Perhaps that's something that I should consider?
I've sort of had this problem decades ago and started off with blades and then realized that I wasn't a professional golfer, I really had to work my way up to the non forgiving irons, now that I'm older I think it's time to go back to the forgiveness and regular shaft's 🤪🇺🇲
Hi Danny. Great video. I have been thinking about a 7 wood. My 4 iron is not as consistent as my other irons. I love my 5 wood, but don’t seem to get on with hybrids, so I am thinking 7 wood is the obvious choice.

Sounds like a great idea or even a 9 wood

7 wood is magic IMHO. I thought I read someplace that Lee Westwood has added a 7 wood to his bag, some older, very major name in British golf anyway.
That seamless transition into the YFood commercial, the stuff of KZread millionaires

@@DanielMaude Recently acquired a set of CBX 2 wedges as I'm a higher handicap player. They've given me so much more confidence compared to a more traditional blade wedge, so it's definitely vital to build your bag around your own game and not what the pros use!
Danny, saw an article recently where a dr did an experiment over 9 holes with those carrying and those using a trolley. Those carrying burnt off 3 more calories than those using trollies. Very interesting!

@@DanielMaude I live in the Pacific Northwest in the US. Similar to much of the UK in that we get a lot of rain. I use a 3 wheel push cart ( trolley) the most useful part is the umbrella holder
I haven’t bought a club since 2013 and those were just replacement wedges and a driver as I didn’t have one at the time. I only carry 13 clubs and just have two wedges.
I wish my clubs looked that clean Danny. LOL. Congrats on 400k, still no1 on YT for me although I do get a good laugh from the golfmates.

@@DanielMaude anytime, even though I'm the one that's thankful for the advice lol but thanks and hope you have a great day.
So in terms of my bag: Driver - TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2 3 Wood - TaylorMade M2 Rescue Wood - TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2 Irons - Ping G20 4 Iron then TaylorMade RBZ 5-9 iron Wedges - TaylorMade RBZ Pitching & Sand Wedge (no idea the loft as they were the clubs that came with the set). I've also got a Cobra King PUR 60 degree Greenside chipper Putter - Odyssey White Hot (but what one I don't know) Ball - titleist velocity/Srixon AD 133 In the off season I'm going to be replacing my grips on my irons/chipper/putter whilst looking at a new shaft for my driver. It's going to go from regular to stiff to a stiff shaft but I'm also going to test the regular stiff in the PING G30 - that's the driver my dad uses and we have a game every month where we swap clubs and our last match I was smashing his driver like there was no tomorrow
