This is such an important video, I will be bookmarking it and watching it many times. Ah and thank you from the bottom of my heart for NOT pronouncing things that we are not supposed to pronounce. Every single resource I have ever watched on KZread or even listen on audiobooks always say "and never ever say..." and then they go and say it, it drives me so mad! Why plant that seed 😡 You are a true teacher Dylane and I love your teaching ways, bless you 👍🏻

You are the reason why I still learn French, even being so far away from home, and family. And it's beginning to show. I can talk with my relatives more comfortably than before. Je vous apprécie beaucoup.

This lesson is so easy to understand but difficult to remember these many conditions. Guess what in my personal reading I actually used liason after 'et'....saying it like etune etc. Je suis folle, ou quoi?? 😬 But you my French fairy, you saved me on time...now, I need to unlearn and then relearn. Un grand merci a vous!!!!

Liaison is very complicated in french
I’m rewatching this video months later and the funny part is…. After studying French for years and listening to French for years and speaking French….this really becomes natural when to make the liaison and when not to…I’m not a native French speaker but I’m at an advanced enough level to where if I heard someone make these liaisons….it would sound so weird….it doesn’t sound natural at all. I’m not fluent by any means but even I wouldn’t make these liaisons because it just simply doesn’t sound right or natural. You know what I mean?

Absolutely Leland! Most of the forbidden liaisons are not easy to pronounce so usually they are not hard to remember. The optional ones are most often the tricky ones :D

@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane You are so right!
So for h beginning a word, you don’t pronounce the h whether it is aspireé or mué? But it functions as a consonne when it’s aspiré, and as a voyelle when mué for other purposes?

Between est and arrivés, the liaison is optional :)
what do we do when there is something not on any of the lists (obligatoire, interdit ou facultatif) ? For example, can i make a liaison in « ont envie » ?

I'm surprised about 'quand' because one pronunciation site presents alleged French speaker having liaison in "quand arrivez-vous"?

Why is the H in "haricot" called "aspiré° when it's silent like any other French H? An aspirated H would be like the English H in "house".
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
4 ай бұрын
The French H isn;t the same as the English H. Aspiré means that it acts as a consonant, H muet acts as a vowel :)
@aviadilo

@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane OK, so H aspiré isn't pronounced, but it effects the end of the previous word in the same way as other consonants, i.e. it doesn't cause a liaison. Merci!
