I know I can be critical at times, but I just want you to know, from one veteran to another: You make (in my opinion) the best videos covering Fallout 76 of anyone during the entire history of the game. I've followed a lot of Fallout 76 youtubers over the years (but we won't name names); from contentious click-baiters to informative and helpful youtubers, but your videos have always been fire. I may know all these tips, but having a place I trust that I can send new players to get information is a god-send. I always get excited when I can suggest your channel to someone new, because I know they're going to find a ton of useful information here. Thank you!

Not really a mistake, just something cool. Once you get the camera take pictures of your adventures, anytime you find a nice view, and in major interactions in the story; the loading screens will be all of your taken photos. I started halfway through the game and can see how i progressed and different builds i had. Its also cool having photos with main characters.

Reminder too is that ammo drops are contextual. By that I mean is that whatever gun you use to kill an enemy, they tend to drop ammo for that gun you used. An example would be using using a Handmade rifle and getting 5.56 from enemies, plasma guns and getting plasma cells, or even cartridges for gauss rifles. I was clueless about this until I noticed I had over thousands of .308 ammo when the only gun I often used was the hunting rifle.

Yeah, didn't used to be that way - the enemies used to drop random ammo. It was really annoying to kill critters with my 10mm, the only gun I had back then, and have them drop me dozens of rounds of 5.56 or Missiles. So happy that changed.

Yes, more than you're seeing today - imagine no server lasting longer than maybe two hours at a time. That was part of how 76 got its poor rep at the beginning. They dropped it to 800 lbs at first, to reduce the number of pointers, then gradually increased it. So far, 1200 lbs seems to be about as high as they can go and still have more than like ten players on a server.

I got two tips for new players as a new player myself. Teleporting to events is free and you can participate even under level. Its a great way to farm xp as you just need to shoot an enemy once and let the high level players do the rest of the work. Good rewards, good xp, and sometimes theres even events that require a little bit more than just fighting so you can actually help. Second tip is to avoid workshops unless you plan on staying on for a few hours. Dont waste all your gears trying to make turrets for defence as you wont get any back by the end of the game session. If your game crashes or the session ends, you will no longer own the workshop and your stuff will not be refunded. If there's one that I would say is worth it, it would either be the munitions factory or the red rocket pit stop. One generates free ammo and has easy ways to funnel attackers into a kill zone and the red rocket has a a ton of aluminum nodes as well as a junk node which can generate more gears.

Great guild but one thing I'd add is for the ammo crafting section, is to not forget the ammosmith perk card. it adds extra ammo you can craft on top of Super Duper and Ammo Factory. I can make thousands of rounds really quickly, easily, and cheap that way.

Another point is that not everyone considers level 50, the point at which you can start adding perks like Super Duper, to be "beginning". Those particular tips aren't going to be that useful to someone who's just left the Vault, not even when the update comes and you can start at 20. Crafting ammo is still a big deal, though - not only does it save you caps, it gives you XP.

@@TheCrystonian That is why I said to go into daily ops with other players and let the other players kill most of the enemies. I carry daily ops for low level players all the time. The greatest tip I wish someone would have recommended to me is to stop using auto weapons. And this links into your point about ammo. I used to play auto rifle, then went to shotgun then gauss shotgun and finally I went to melee with the assistance of a lever action rifle when I need to make distance shots. Not having to worry about ammo weight or running out of ammo makes the game much more fun (and makes me richer in the process). Generally speaking most of the progress I've made in 76 has been to take out the gritty bits so I can just enjoy the wasteland. I think the general overall advice I would give is to be a minimalist. Don't carry or stash anymore than you really need and find ways to get more out of what you have. A lot of these things will take some time to accumulate I won't deny that.

Another quick tip, Morgantown airport is a great place as a low level player to farm lots of weapons to sell (at the train station across the street) plenty of chems/stimpacks, and an easy mini event that can be done on your own. I even collect the junk there and sell it to the bot at the train station. If you want to sell your junk, just don’t scrap it. The moment you scrap it they are no longer ‘sellable objects’ just trash, bots won’t buy all your components only some, so don’t break it down if you want to sell.

Thank you for the video. I'm not a new user, so I knew these things, buy enjoy well-made videos like this one that help new users learn. I would just suggest that with (probably) most weapons, you really don't need to craft ammunition anymore, because contextual ammo drops even outside Daily Ops and Expeditions exceed the amount of ammo you use; I always end up with far more ammunition at the end of the day than I started out with, and this is the same for several weapons I use. I'd also recommend not buying ammo from players because the game doesn't let you sell for less than one cap per round, which is insanely expensive for most types. Another thing you might mention is the ammo crafting device, which is slow, but does work. And the ammo converter, which is super clunky, but also is a tool for getting the ammo type you want. Exceptions to what I just said are fusion and plasma cores, since they won't drop contextually.

First time I played the game, I reached level 40 playing it like FO4, not joining any teams and literally played like solo. It was a very difficult game and I had no ammo most of the time and my gears suck. No caps as well. So, then, I stopped because I was grinding but it's like nothing's happening for me. Then, I saw videos like this giving me tips, and then, I played it differently. I was missing out on so much things, just because I didn't try them. So, just enjoy and watch these tips videos and you'll enjoy it more. :)

Hah , bet you end up adding a second video to the list . Maybe several . Thanks for another great video . I think a great move would be start a new character and walk the points and highlights of progression for new players . I found on my second and third , mostly second , how difficult it was compared to my high level . Once you hit that 50 100 300 marker you need way less . Then if you do not use first you are in an impossible position for long term play . More than a dozen of my pals are periodically stopping to say hello then a month or less of 1st is up and so are they . I have been a huge fan of B gang for years and wish them well . They manage to keep a crowd of followers just by being extraordinary.

Honestly, don't shy away from 10 mil ammo, it solves alot of problems keeping them as back up weapons, also get a fusion core recharger. Brahmin meat sells extremely well with very little perk point investment early on and is a good source of exp if you cook it in bulk.

I would add that as a newplayer if you want or need something? Ask a higher level player in your team for it. If they have it they will liekly just hand it over for free. I often hand over stimpacks, ammo, plans, fixers, junk, etc. And if i have. Y mic around ill ask what they want to use and nake several of that weapon for them. I only farm for legendaries in order to "perfect" my weapons

Some easy builds, 1, Big Guns with 5mm gatling and minigun, use gatling for normal play and you will get 10x the ammo back from each kill, use minigun at events to get rid of all the 5mm again. 2, chainsaw/ pistol build, you xan solo everything with that. 3, Shotgun build, Peppershaker/gauss shotgun, all to easy. No ammo crafting required for any of these builds.

Check all armor drops for "weapon weight reduction" effect. It is the best effect in the game for armor IMO. If you get all 5 pieces with it, you will save 90% weight on ALL your weapons which also includes grenades. This is the best weight saving option in the game by far. Just keep an eye out for armor pieces with that legendary effect (or any other weight saving perk) and ignore everything else. Do that and you will be able to carry far more than your stash box on you with no problem. Once you get high level you can work on refining your build but even then it isn't really necessary.

I usually buy a boatload of 44 ammo, cryo cells, and gamma cells from players if they're selling for one cap per round because these have the best conversion ratio in the ammo converter, my favourite is usually arrows since you get 7000pts for 1000 arrows, and basically no player wants them in their inventory. And then I just convert all my points to fuel because me like fire.

Stash: Bulk the items that can be bulked drops the weight too. Do this at a Tinker’s bench, you will just need some plastic. I know cuz before Ammo was as common, and I didn’t have Fo1st, I needed tons of lead, steel, acid (for smelting lead and for gunpowder), and paper to make bullets. Many content creators neglect this point as they’ve had F01st for so long. Ammo: Super mutants drop more gunpowder than other enemies, as when you’re new it’s hard to take and hold the workshops that give acid. Or survive an onslaught of bullet spongy cave crickets. Yuo Gau drop a good amount of acid as well. Rat poison and cans are great for lead as well as weights.

I wouldn't say any of them are HUGE mistakes, because all of them are easily fixed. One thing I'd add about stash management, and weight management in general, is this: If you're not a fo1st subscriber, get into the habit of sorting through your stash and character inventories on a regular basis. It's amazing how often you'll find you're hoarding something daft that's taking up a huge amount of space that you haven't even realised you've got and will never, ever use. 😂 I'm a "loot everything and worry about it later" sort of player, and the amount of food and drink I've sometimes ended up carrying is absurd. Also, always remember to clean out the vendors of caps every day you log in. Most of the time you can just flog stuff from your stash, but I also craft Treasure Hunter hats, because they cost next to nothing to make and sell for 21-26 caps each, depending on your perks. Gulper Slurry is also ridiculously good to sell, as you can get loads from the Moonshine Jamboree event.
