Hey there. Thank you for your videos. I recently retired 1 year ago. 3 years prior I started trying out reselling. Your videos impacted me the most. I made many mistakes and have learned what and how to sell. Finding the items i enjoy and am interested in was my way of building up followers interested also. I am now creating a workshop for myself in my basement. I look around and see what i have created. By the time i retired i had a working idea about how to expand and create consistant income to add to my social security. I use that extra money for home improvement and fun. Thank you for your word of inspiration- "Dont worry about everyone else" and "Believe in yourself". Many times i questioned myself, should I really list this item, no one will like it. Well I believed in myself and what I felt about it and guess what? Sales just go up. ! I finally am able to move forward with this endless possibilities job Ive created and let the past go. But I did start trying it out 3 years prior to retirement to get the bugs worked out. You have encouraged me along the way. It takes daily commitment to get to where you want to be. That is for sure. Heartfelt thank you, Linda

I rare comment on videos, I just want to say thank you for inspiring me to start a small eBay shop this year. I'm a homeschool mom to two disabled children after the school system failed them both terribly and we were forced to figure out their education ourselves. I had no idea financially how we were going to afford everything and we already lived very thrifty and frugally. So I just started cleaning out my house and selling books and items and clothing and therapy tools that my kids had outgrown and didn't need anymore. I'm not making massive amounts of money but enough to at least pay for my children's therapies each week now that the school system no longer provides therapies and that in itself is a huge blessing. I felt so overwhelmed and like I could barely breathe let alone figure out how to make some extra money and your videos gave me so much practical and needed insight and encouragement. Thank you

Mike, this was a great video. I'm not surprised that you are honestly wanting to help your friend. At Easter family get together I was catching up with a dear 69 - 70 year young family member. 8 years ago when he retired he started to DOG SIT. He started small and did it because he loves dogs. Started small and never dreamed it would be a retirement career. Now he dog sits / house sits for his clients. He does very well, loves what he does and makes extra income doing something he enjoys. If your friend likes animals maybe this is something he would consider. I have friends that drop off their dogs at a doggy daycare but to me it I would think that in parts of California pet owners would love to know they could drop off their pet at a home and know they are being walked and they would be able to run in the back yard! And pay a nice fee for it. There is money in your area and people love their pets. My relative actually stays at the clients home and dog sits and house sits when the client goes on vacations or work travels. He is very trustworthy. He is a happy man. Mike, I enjoy your videos. You are a good person.

If you want to start reselling so you don’t have to work 8 hours a day this is the wrong job for you unless you have a KZread channel that you post once or twice a week for years and you’re decent at it. On the contrary when you first start reselling I’d put 10 hours a day into it for at least 6 months 7 days a week before you even think about taking a week vacation and switching to 5 days a week 8 hours a day. Once you’re a couple years in and have 5,000-10,000 listing selling 10-20 a day maybe you can cut down your hours but I’d still recommend planning on working 40 hours a week.

Mike, you need to give a commencement speech. I’m about 8 years away from retiring with a pension but will be 57 then. I need to fill the 8 year gap from 57 to 65 I’ve been selling trading cards, postcards and smaller items to store and ship. I also dabble with DoorDash to get extra money for inventory and supplies. Hopefully in 8 years I can get this right and have a good income stream to supplement my pension

Great topic Mike!! I truly feel for your friend having been through a few layoffs over a 35-year corporate career in airline, hospitality and travel technology. I always wanted to own a business and made that jump in 2010 and grew my junk removal business so that I could exit when I was ready after 12 years. Now at 69 and just over one year into reselling, I'm having the time of my life - I do it on my terms and timeline and love what I call my 7-day-a-week semi-retirement hustle. It may or may not be the right fit for your friend, but that's okay - we're all wired differently. You and I will have to compare notes one day over coffee - while our journeys to where we are now are slightly different, our experience, age, beliefs, wisdom, hustle, etc. are very similar. Happy Easter to you and your family!! Dave

A job is someone bribing you to sacrifice your dreams. Job original meaning in Hebrew is the persecuted. The noun job means a PIECE of work, a TEMPORARY occupation. We are all meant to succeed and not to enrich others. I mean come on people. WAKE UP. Yes, you have to work hard and maybe even way harder when you first start a business but eventually if you keep up the hard work you will reap the benefits.

on your buddy who was laid off. Among the job search, I'd suggest he try a youtube channel. I've been watching older developers and software people on YT and they bring such an organized and thoughtful presentation that I think is lacking on YT. If their interest is still in software, maybe consider mentoring, coaching or teaching software to others. Yes, this niche is flooded. But mostly by younger people who hadn't worked 4 decades in the field.

At nearly 50-years old, & +25-years in the Telecom Industry, with a wife & two young children at home, as a single 'bread-winner' I'm genuinely scared. Upper management is literally clueless, and the lower level folks with the real knowledge base, which keeps us a float, as a company are leaving in droves. I worry my position will soon be on the chopping block. I'd love to do the eBay thing, but I need the benefits plan, just for the medical for my wife & kids. Just the same, I'm trying to find a plan B, in-case the bottom falls our with our plan A. I'd like to retire at 65, but I honestly don't know if I can afford to retire. Complicated & stressful to say the least.

I am retiring from the school district in two years. I am 59 and want to be in a position since I will only be 61 at the time of retirement. I will have 20 years at that time. Struggle at the moment to get things going on the platforms but still pushing forward. It is hard since I am not as tech as a lot of the younger people in the same platform. It is a struggle. I me and my husband have done many reselling things over the years. Like furniture refinishing, building furniture, planting a vegetable garden and canning my own food to save money you name it. So there are other avenues for us. Just starting in the jewelry at the moment. Mercari just cancelled my account yesterday after many purchases and 5 star ratings from sellers. Very frustrating. Thank goodness my youngest has a degree in technologie. I will say for many years I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur. Can't give up now with all the knowledge I have now.

Good motivational video. A little off topic but I have a question. I sold a golf club to a man in Dusseldorft Germany. It was less than $40.00. I sent the club to EBAY's international shipping center in Ohio. A week later I got an email from EBAY saying they had cancelled the order but that I would get to keep the sale money. So far, noone has been able to tell me at EBAY why the sale was cancelled. Have you had any experience with this?
