Man, the hopium is EXTREME. I love the core gameplay of RL, but it's so clear that Epic is trying to kill the standalone RL and just put it into their big metaverse Fortnite thing. There is no RL in UE5, idk why people think that's still happening. It was never announced and it was just a call to hire someone to work on RL in UE5...which they did. It's called Rocket Racing. THAT is the big "Rocket League UE5". The timeline matches up perfectly for that to be the case. So all of their big stuff and new features is just them slowly integrating (forcing) Rocket Racing and Rocket League until we can't play RL without being in Fortnite.

Rocket racing isnt even in UE5, it's built in the Unreal Engine for Fortnite, which is their own wrapper around UE5. It's basically a fortnite mod in the fortnite engine

@@redvic83 Don't you think that, in Epic's mind, Rocket Racing IS Rocket League in UE5? To them, they fulfilled the promise. They're going to make RL in Fortnite and call it RL2 in UE5. That's the thing that most benefits them as a company.

Yeah the ranking system made me quit about a month or two ago. After I reached champ level I started caring much less about my rank and focused more on basic mechs and noticed I was getting much better but the games were super inconsistent and then the season started and it made worse. Again I don't care about winning or losing but I do care about playing competitive or close matches and that happens once every 5-10 games.. It stopped being fun and the crazy thing is I still want to play..

I can relate with that; my mechanical skills have been inconsistent as well. I've seen significant improvement in the last three to four months, but it remains a challenge. In each game, the skills of players in the entire lobby vary so much that it becomes difficult to predict everyone's moves and trust my teammates.

Great explanation on the tutorial part, it would be amazing if they work out something alot nicer, more detailed for example, skate 3 used to have a NPC come up to you and teach you how to do certain stuff, If like an egg would enter the freeplay arena and explain, what a good pass is or certain positioning will end up in getting scored on...

Something to build off what Lawler said about clubs actually doing something, it would be amazing to see a mode where you can queue for a best of X series with your club teammates and have your club with its own rank. Everyone who watches rlcs im sure has wanted to be able to run best of series of their own in the game and not have to wait for a tournament to do so, would also be nice to be able to have a second chance against some opponents unlike in ranked where you lose a match by one goal and then obviously the "What A Save"s start flooding in, this way you could be like "alright, round 2 lets go"

I actually really enjoyed this style of video, very chill vibes with good conversations on things that actually matter for the game. Very well done with the editing as well!

A good idea would be to make clubs useful. My idea would be to have like a 1v1 games against different clubs to get a better drop at the end of the week, for every game you win you get credits to use in the shop

As a custom map maker/speedrunner, the problem that RL presents with custom content is not having access for console players to play the custom maps we make. PC players have access but obviously there is no official platform to download maps. If people do want to find maps, a lot of creators have been including direct download links in the descriptions of their maps on the Steam Workshop. Many single player maps exist, but we simply just are not seeing the traffic like we used to on Steam so I can only assume that the vast majority of players just are not interested in the custom content like people believe they are. Also, the only content creator I know that plays custom maps in their videos are Lethamyr as most content creator seem to not be interested in featuring custom maps on their channels. Epic could have a place for PC players to post and download custom maps in the current version of rocket league as it obviously already exists on Steam but it's been over 3 years now and they haven't accommodated it so I assume that Epic does not care to support it. Psyonix has supported it on the official Rocket League discord by adding a channel to link and discuss custom content but it is pretty inactive. This was kind of a long essay but we can only hope Epic supports custom content in the future. Thanks for making the vid

Honestly rocket league is a game i never get bored to personally. I hope epic would try to not kill the game tho

at this point, ill believe it when i see it.

I feel like a specific mode where you can browse workshop maps within the game would make the game much more enjoyable. As a pc player with many friends who are on console and can’t do workshop maps it gets really boring with playing the same game. Obviously there are many situations in the standard rocket league game but adding a creative hub like in fortnite we could bring new players in, old players back, and normal players different modes.

It's also important to note that the Rocket Racing player count you showed in the video is only the amount of people playing casual, for whatever reason Ranked RR has a separate player count (which is generally close to casual number, so about half the players in ranked and the other half in casual/private, so the overall player count is usually double what's shown)

I am sorry for being a pessimist but I have had hope for years. It's going to take a lot for RL to grow and prosper when quite frankly, they have no proof of heading in the right direction. They are actually showing a negative direction. The lack of communication is INSANE when you can see they respond to people's random tweets about random small bugs in Fortnite. All of their social media is about their cosmetic items to sell and make money. Almost EVERY comment on them is "idc bring back trading". The interview section of this video did not show positive hope, it showed desperate hope. That is sad. I am sad. This is my favorite game of all time and deserves better. There are so many things RL could do to make things better (fix smurfing, UE5, creative mode, bringing back trading to show they listen and care, an actual RLCS website, etc). Until something ACTUALLY HAPPENS (NOT JUST A TWEET SAYING HEY GUYS WE ARE DOING STUFF), this game will continue to slowly die. Also, I think it would be good to try and get more interviews from the casual fanbase as well. Different perspectives. Love your work and what you do CBell, happy new year and hopefully things start changing for the better for RL. ❤

In al honesty, I kept believing in epic that things would get better than before. But after letting such a big part of the community down by removing trading, I lost faith, stopped playing completely. I was waiting so long for something new like UE5, or anything but after the removal I just stopped believing epic saw rocket league as anything else than a cash cow

The club thing is such a good idea. Having a team mmr and you could play scrims and it would actually do something

When I heard this idea in the video, I was like "why isn't this already a thing!?!?". I play the game more than my club team members, so when we team up it's hard to play ranked which is a bummer. Having a club mmr that doesn't affect your individual mmr would be amazing!

there are so many options and little features to improve rocket league. I think its simple, the ONLY long-term investment epic decided to go for was free to play, and it didnt exactly blew up as they expected, so the only option left is: squeze some money back over a long period of time in exchange of the bare minimum work on it that would explain the priorities, (like an entire diferent game) items, updates, etc

I hope Leth is actually applying for that job and not waiting for Epic to call him up. It sounds like exactly the role he was asking for. And he has been the biggest hype machine for racing.

They’ll bring more eventually but they probably don’t want to remake thousands of items when people don’t use 99% of them. They were definitely prioritizing the gameplay and not the items, but now that the game is up and running they can focus more on the items

another thing I think would be cool to have added to rocketleague would be something like a tittle for every rank you got like from bronze to champ would be cool like SSL and GC already have but for each rank would be better it would give people more initiative to play and get to higher rankes like the top 100 leadarboard titles and do the same thing for each rank like bronze up to champ it would make the game more rewarding to get to each new rank rather then only titles for GC and SSL

i think the team mmr is a great idea, people make clubs in rocket league but you never see people actually playing with them, i think that if there was a separate mode specifically FOR CLUBS would be great because the mmr would be for the club and not for the individual person and i feel like people would love that trying to become the best club trying to get to the highest rank in their club would be grate, and i people would still play solos because they would want their own mmr and their own rank, i think if they do that it would be great

I am a massive fan of games of my past. Nostalgia really hits home for me. In a way, I have been stuck playing RL among other games for a while just because in some ways, trying new games is fine but I don't stick to them. This seems to be the problem with older games that still have a considerable playerbase, or at least the community thrives while the Devs barely give those games attention. All they do is keep the servers up and that's about it. With these older games, remaking them in a current engine usually seems like the right way to go, whether its to keep the game fresh and trendy, or just to implement things not possible from before. An example for me would be Paladins. Base game, its unbelievably good in my, along with a lot of other people's minds. However, its fairly old, and its Development has changed hands quite a bit so, people coming in not knowing any better ended up with Spaghetti Code (they would write more code on top of bad code in order to fix a problem but then the old code may conflict with newer code or newer code causes problems elsewhere) This for all we know could have happened with Rocket League, among other games. Its an incredibly unique game and the developers made a similar game before RL, and then they had different projects before that. We all would love to be harsh to the team at Psyonix but at a certain point, they were learning as they went as well, and with new knowledge and experience, as well as new tools or resources (new engine, more money, bigger team), they could possibly out-do themselves given the opportunity. Rocket Racing ate up a lot of their time but it was probably another experiment. Sigh. I am rambling

I def have hope as a viewer for the rlcs scene this season, but as a player, ranked has kinda felt stale and the community is too toxic for me rn.

I think there's one thing in Rocket League that you can't necessarily teach, but can teach a concept of which is rotation and field direction. Knowing where to be and when in certain situations that are common. I think including this in the training would help retain new players. Basically, the MMR system keeps inflating, but the training is not. Have a set "scheduled" on when Epic will always touch base with the community on some kind of communication. "I'm doing something, but I can't tell you what it is yet. Don't lose hope!" something even as simple as that. I love the concept of Rocket League too much to give up on it, so I won't be going anywhere until (hopefully it never happens) the game is shut down and disappears.

The Updates will be new Cars and Fashion Items woooooow. On a serious note, I really hope they are giving us some new content.

I'm done listening to false promises from Epic/psyonix. I've given up on them and rocket league. Every year they claim big things are coming and every year people are left completely underwhelmed. Ranked is an absolute shit show and has been for over a year and it's rapidly getting worse. My favorite game is dying and it's simply due to greed and lies from epic. They can blow smoke up everyone else's asses. I'm not trusting a single word from them.

also they removed trading to add it back in new game probably. seems obvious. might also implement blockchain NFTs. especially since removing trading like this really makes players appreciate a public decentralized blockchain where their cross game items cannot be physically taken from them even if in-game support is terminated.

Gave up a few weeks back .. can't do it , for one this game has the easiest maps to make in the world 90% of the map is always the same , so they can't do 10% of work to make new maps , ping is horrible, ranked is beyond broken.. they don't care Rocket racing is to important .. they didn't spend years to just drop it and come back to RL

I dont get it. I played Unreal Tournament back in the day. They had community driven servers (shout out to Zark and GOD), and all I had to do was open the search server screen. Any maps and textures I needed would download automatically. I don't understand how that wasn't done with RL.

Rocket league racing is down to 10k players. Last night I was on fortnite and saw 10.6k

If you ever do another low rank challenge I'm worth it. Started in 2k15. Took a break but back. Bronze season 2. Plat season 12 n now. Can't go higher. No friends. Solo que everyday. No job always available willing to grind and training packs daily. I feel I'm good but apparently not lol.

Rocket League need to add a title for getting champ. Like season 13 champion
