Don't Get Lazy! | 5 MTB Techniques We All Forget

Спорт

We're all guilty of it, we get so focused on trying to get to the bottom of the trail so fast that forget the basics! But ironically, those basics are what help us ride faster. So Rich Payne has created a list of techniques that he often overlooks. Hopefully, after watching this video you will have a better idea of the basics so you can focus on the more advanced stuff!

Most of the crashes happen cause you're not looking ahead! Safe shredding everyone! 🤘

Most of my crashes happened because I was too confident, same on the dirtbike. I usually try to look at everything coming in front of me but the faster you ride the less you think about it, it's a bit like weaving through traffic on a sportsbike; you feel you're one with the bike and your vision starts to blend with all the other senses, then a dude in a pickup truck switches lanes in front of you and you end up sitting in his truck bed bike in million pieces... 😂

hey man I have a problem with my bike, a few months ago my rear derailleur got really bent and I bent it back but when I’m on the lowest gear ( 2 , 1 ) from the rear, it puts it on the third gear ( 2 , 3). My rear ratio goes from 1 to 8 but it starts at 3 and ends on 6. When I put the chain on the 1st gear manually, it just gets put back to third the second I start pedalling. I’m not sure what to unscrew or tighten and I’m not willing to do anything without any professional tips / supervision because I’m too scared to break my bike even more.

First you need to check if your derailleur hanger is bent back straight, if not then you need a new one, they're quite inexpensive generally. After that you need to index your gears as you're clearly out of whack, there are some good videos online about how to do this. It can be tricky though especially if your hanger is still bent. If all else fails you might need a trip to a bike shop, find a local independent as they're less likely to have your pants down. Hope this helps

I never thought of looking in front of me while I'm riding a bike! Wow such amazing information! If you need teaching stuff like this video then you probably should find another hobby. Mtb isn't for you, should come naturally and that comes from riding a bike from a young age.

Not everybody watching may have ridden bikes from an early age, they might be getting into riding (or at least off-road riding) later in life. If a particular technique isn't applicable to you, move on to the next one that is...
