"When you provide meaning and purpose to other people, it comes naturally that you get wrapped up and caught up in it". Everyone: please follow this advice. It might very well be the most important thing to learn in order to avoid unnecessary suffering and finding REAL meaning.

When you can't make a living out of your passion it can still be a hobby and eventually get you to where you want it to be

Truth!! I find too it’s also about the people in your life and if they are quality or not. You are the sum of the people you surround yourself with. If you love what you do you’ll work every day of your life. Be a passionate person, don’t put your passion on a thing. Be passionate about living life and people will follow.

Thanks for the wise words Cole! What you say about creating value is so true. When I was a regular in Philly's happy-hour scene I was meeting my rent and then some before the covid lockdowns. I could create value by performing requested & popular songs, but also indulge my passion by including originals & my favorite covers in the set. It was really satisfying and enjoyable! Good luck everybody, just take a shot at what you love. No matter what, you'll pick up skills that will aid you in surprising ways in the future.

From a Boomer perspective... never give up on your passion (and always pursue it) but put food on the table. If you do it right eventually (maybe not tomorrow) your passion will put food on the table. Looking at my life... I am an extroverted artistic engineer, very dangerous! Long story short is my engineering (a typically introverted career path) paid for my extroverted and artistic hobbies when I had time. I transitioned to an extroverted work area (instruction) that also afforded me more time to pursue passions. I still have my day job (and am about as comfortable as I can be since it uses all skill sets) AND I have time to shoot and write about awesome bands. The coolest part is interacting with artist PR and publicists and looking at, photographing, and writing about shows and artists from (hopefully) unique perspectives. I am in heaven and hoping to one day quite my day job (retirement) and make enough to live on shooting and writing about the arts. Looking for a band willing to pay my way on a European tour right now (it could happen... some day... before I wake up :) ). Good stuff Cole!

Good video. I work a monotonous 9-5 job like most people. I've often thought if I was doing something that actually made some kind of difference in other people's lives I might not be so miserable at work. Only problem is I have no idea what that would be.

That's very interesting perspective. I personally don't know what is my passion, there's just too much things i like, that's why i went to study physics as it's thing that ties all my interests and it's considered as a safe path to good work Only problem is that it's hard as hell and i don't have much of a backup plan

2:32 where could I read that book? Never heard of that story. Nice video though but I tried to get my passion to get a lot of attention somehow if they see me play drums/Piano or guitar doing covers in stuff.
