Hey ya’ll what type of rod do you like best for crappie fishing in a kayak?

    12foot poles and kayaks don't mix... I would use a 6-61/2 rod.

I fish crappie only out of my kayak 90 percent of the time over here at cedar Creek. Tips would be a shorter rod. Cheap reel it will get wet. Waders for spring crappie. Easier to launch kayak plus once in the area I want to fish I get out to fish the area better. You can tie the kayak to you and drag it along. Grippers to secure you too limbs etc to stay in place during windy days. Extra rod with all the branches etc you may break a tip. Better seat makes it easier to stay on the water longer. I fish all year out of mine.

Hey Mark thanks for the great tips. I have been on cedar creek the past four days. That place is full of crappie.

Hey Fredo thanks for the comment. That trip was very challenging to say the least. I thought I was going to bust those fish but ended up in the tree more than in the water lol

Man! • That was a challenging trip. I have not see a spawning crappie yet at all... They are still in deeper water like 20 to 25 feet down AND none of them are over 9 or 10 inches 🤔

@@CATCHAHAWG Our weather is still dropping into the 30`s at night • I believe that's throwing them off. It's been a strange spawning season so far

@@ppdrawings I agree. It’s been weird here as well. I’ve caught a bunch shallow the past couple weeks but not like i should be. I’m thinking a bunch may have spawned in February due to it being warmer than normal.

@@ppdrawings keep me posted if you find some shallow at the end of the month. That would be interesting to know as I never have fished for the shallow fish that late.

Using a long rod in a kayak is challenge. Best use a super cheap reel and just run the butt in the water and use an extendable net to bring them in.
