Discrimination and violence against LGBT persons are exceedingly common in Jamaica, it's one of the most dangerous countries to be gay, rates of violence against gay men are extremely high. Consentual sex between people of the same sex is illegal and punishable with 10 years of prison. This video is trying to be lighthearted but that's probably why these men would rather let someone suffocate than do complete cpr.

In new CPR guidelines, mouth to mouth is not required as chest compressions are more important than the time it takes to administer that breath. It is still recommended that mouth to mouth happens if there are two people doing CPR, but they specifically sell a mask for this reason, because one downsides of the process is people have a habit of throwing up while being saved. Besides that, there is also the need to avoid diseases. Another downside is that ribs have a habit of breaking during CPR due to the amount of force that is used to keep your heart going. If you're lucky, you'll just get away with bruises.

  • @tonymiller8244

This actually isn't totally true just a misunderstanding of the new guidelines. If pulse but not breathing- give breaths. If no pulse and cpr certified- 30 compressions to two breaths. If you're a bystander and don't know what you're doing- push hard and push fast on the chest. Don't stop. That's the misconception. Research showed people that didn't know what they were doing were not supplying adequate pressure to expand the lungs and some amount of o2 was still present in the blood. Therefore they changed the guidelines to say, "if you don't know what you're doing or unwilling to give breaths do compressions." Also- the ribs don't usually break although they can. Instead, more often than not, the ribs detach from the sternum. Cpr is a traumatic experience not to be taken lightly but the alternative is you're dead so...

Mouth-to-mouth CPR only delivers a limited amount of oxygen. If you have a one-way valve it couldn’t hurt, however, you’re risking your own health if you choose to use mouth-to-mouth. Otherwise, deliver oxygen if available - chest compressions alone tend to be effective.

The lifeguard is saying they don't do mouth to mouth to avoid punishment by Jamaica's legal requirements to try to save them...But they are such a homophobic people. Time magazine called Jamaica the most homophobic country on Earth in 2006. That's a competitive title, right there, my friend. Rastafari are notoriously and violently homophobic.
