I too was at this performance. This version of the song has stayed with me these 5 years. Every time I hear this song in my head this is the version I hear.

I was there too. im emotional rewatching it now because of when this concert was. it was a time in my life I will never forget. it was the most amazing concert and im still getting goosebumps over it. it has always stayed with me too. love tori xx

I was there: Paul Hester (Crowded Houses' drummer) had commited suicide a couple of months earlier so I think it was dedicated to him.

Did you guys know that this song was in turn the cover of an Italian song by songwriter Antonello Venditti? The video of the original Italian song is a bit of a cult because it stars a very young Angelina Jolie in one of her first roles ever. Sorry, this comment really does not fit the video and Tori's cover, but I couldn't refrain to share this curiosity :-)

The version to which you are referring is from 1991. The original (written by Neil Finn, performed by Crowded House) is from 1986. These are not difficult things to google. It's sketchy enough that Jolie was only 16 in that video (though I'll admit, there is almost no discernible difference between her face at 16 and her face at 40... kind of eerie, really). But if you think using a preteen in a video like that would've been remotely appropriate, you've got issues...

I really hate tori amos (we are about the same age and from opposite sided of the tracks in Maryland) and i think her style of music is geared for people who hate music. However i love this song, it always gives me chills. I must say at this moment i don't hate this overprivileged entitled victimized rich girl. Nice job. Maybe gingers do have souls?
