Hello there ! it was really impressive how you picked up those relative minors in the 3rd verse. I used to play bass for this song in a band and our keyboard player was the ONLY one who picked up on it. I had to listen to it slowly, but for sure he was CORRECT. Also the end of the keyboard solo, I think you might've left out a few notes at the end during Esus - E chord??? Everything else sound SPOT ON!!! Thanks for excellent tutorial. Best regards, Dennis

Thanks Dennis. Yeah they are master songwriters, that’s for sure. You are probably right about missing a few notes at the end of the keys solo. I probably left them out in order to transition to the next section smoothly. I often think that’s best, rather than rush it to get it note perfect.

Great lesson thanks again mate. Can you tell us what ms you have the delay set to ?

  • @OneChartguitarlessons

I just went and measured it (against the video, not the actual song, although I think they are pretty much the same), and it's around 356ms. Then I measured the original at about 358ms, so it seems I played fractionally fast in my video! Another way of thinking about this delay time is that it's set to a quaver - or 8th note - of the song's tempo. That comes in handy if you have a delay pedal without the digital readout, i.e. an analog delay pedal or even an old echo unit. Hope that helps, mate.

@@OneChartguitarlessons Thanks mate that's great. I think you got it pretty right, and at the right volume too. Interestingly if you look at Neil Finn doing it in this clip, he had the delay turned up way too loud, and it's distracting ! kzread.info/dash/bejne/dm2Kr8mNh6ireaQ.html

You’re absolutely right. Mind you, after you’ve played it a million times, you probably want to play around with it a bit…🤣
