Just in general this seems to be such a terrible, self-defeating strategy for anyone to take. As the Indian guy points out in this video (deep linked to the relevant section): kzread.info/dash/bejne/lHWAmM-Mes3Zg5c.html Saying we should expect nothing from you is in essence saying: you're useless. Instead, what people should be doing in relationships is trying to be as helpful and productive and cooperative as they can be. It's a team effort after all (or should be). Not only should this help fostering good will from your partner, you become indispensable and irreplaceable by doing so.

From my POV you’re preaching to the choir, but I’m always so happy to see others that share this mindset, especially women, because I’m sad to say not many do. The ones that do are happy with their family and I have yet to find one that isn’t taken. If she's a 'goddess,' just for kicks tell her you're a 'God' and see how she takes it. Behind every 'goddess' is a girl or woman who is trying to compensate for her insecurity. Men and women who are reasonably psychologically secure (not to mention humble) don't announce themselves as deities- but children sometimes do. When I used to see this in dating profiles I was always instantly turned off by it.

If what this girl is saying is real she's going to be very lonely. Hard pass. Any self respecting man with a good job, home, reasonable mind, and big heart is going to pass on these women. Where are they getting these ideas of partnership and attractiveness from? I don't care how pretty you are, looks will never save a relationship or marriage and the same goes for money. So many people are hyper focused on superficial traits, and all traits that either fade or can be taken away. Nobody can steal who you are as a good and descent person. Treating your mate with love, respect, understanding, and acceptance are the most important. Everything else if vanity and a waste. Don't get me wrong, I want a woman that takes care of herself physically as its a sign of self respect, but she must have good relationships with others in her life, be kind, peaceful, loving, feminine. No real man wants this 'girl boss' mentality. It is scary out there and being newly single from a toxic and controlling marriage...yikes!

I'm not thinking about dating or relationships for a long time -- I have a lot of work to do on myself first. However, I'd be remiss if I tried denying that I'm very nervous about the current dating climate. 10 years of dating app culture has scrambled a lot of people's brains. Agree, people don't change (unless maybe there's a catastrophic event in their lives) they can modify their behavior, but generally they are what they are. The problem is that they misrepresent themselves. Intentionally? Why? OR they don't even know themselves, which is common. It can be difficult to be honest with oneself.

Yes, so real. Most people will show you glimpses of who they are we just get blinded by feelings (well I did anyway) and you get burned when you ignore it. Can’t make another person want to mature or know what healthy looks like even if they want to, at that point walk away because the healing journey is an internal solitary journey and you don’t need to wait for someone to maybe change. Don’t waste your time, work on you then attract someone who already has the skills to be healthy! Good luck to all the singles still looking for their person. Don’t give up,there are good healthy men and women out there.

I dodged a bullet trying to get myself involved with a woman that brought nothing to the table. She was beautiful, yes; however, she doesn’t do anything. For a time, I asked myself if she was someone I really wanted to be with and was I really worked up on my emotions? The answer was yes and I refused to compromise my self worth and value as a man because I know what I brought to the table by not emotionally simping and blowing up her phone. I stood strong to myself, put my feelings for her to the side, and realized she didn’t bring very much. Now, she’s long gone because she ghosted me and I’m glad she did because now I’m dating this beautiful honey that brings a ton to the table and checked off all of the boxes I was looking for in a woman in every sense a person should bring to the table. I am not letting this one go.

A good healthy relationship starts with getting to know a person's and his heart. If the hearts match you got the match, looks fade for sure. I'm not with all the hot Girls that were around me, my closest are the ones who are loving and caring. Hot body is for a night I'm going to say as a guy once we hit it we quit. So what you said that beauty fades is very true. Great video shows honesty and your honesty personality.

(also lots of childhood trauma) her ex traumatized her and its so sad to see that she is broken and damaged. i tried helping her and making her happy but really it didn’t really do much. another fact that made me so unhappy was that she was talking to other guys. that was a huge red flag and i’m not all about the hooking up. (at least she was open and very transparent about it.) i really wish her well and i really hope she heals from her traumas and bad experiences with her past. I’ve witnessed her beautiful soul and she has such an awesome personality. just that shes so mentally unstable and it’s sad to see someone like that. my biggest weakness is that i care way too much.

It's sad because when a girl says "you're too good for me" it might be true. I dated a girl for some short time that had a very abusive ex. She once told me that she's never had someone treat her the way I did and pretty much said I was too good for her. She also said that she thinks she is not a good person and she's afraid she might mess things up. I should have listened to her because we had talked about spending Christmas together but I had mentioned interest of traveling to see my family as well. This was during covid so it was risky. I decided to not go and spend Christmas with her, she then told me that she had booked a plane to see her family, after I expressed that I wanted to see my family, and I was totally supportive about it and encouraged her to go. Guess who she visited instead? It wasn't her family lol Even still, I tried to communicate and salvage it (despite me having pretty strict rules on trust) but she took little to no accountability and blamed her psychological diagnoses for her actions. The thing that made it hard for me is that she was acting like the victim and telling me I lacked empathy, I found that extremely ironic because I was the one who was in the right to be upset and sad. I don't want to believe that it's always the case but when a girl tells you she sucks then maybe she does, idk?

Courtney is a therapist who does a lot of relationship work and has a successful marriage. The woman in that video is a random woman on tiktok. Whose advice will you take? I think we need to get to know people on dates. They're not an interview for a job. People are way too transactional. There is no table. There's two complex human beings with their own wants, needs, and goals. You can't shortcut complexity with interview questions. Just have boundaries. Be willing to walk away often in the beginning.

Marriage is one of the most significant business transactions you will make in your life. And having a child with someone is only slightly smaller than a marriage. If you are dating to marry, it should be treated like a job interview.

What people are way too transactional? What men are out there asking you how much you make and to list all your numbers, height, weight, income, huh? What man has ever gone out with you and asked you these things? I'm tired of gender neutral speech when the criticism should exclusively apply to ♀ Bla bla "people" are way too transactional, but it's women who reduce men to numbers.

Another slam dunk, Courtney! Relationships thrive when both parties do their best to uplift the other. Early on in my marriage, I went through a period of unemployment where my wife supported us both. Was absolute hell for me to see her having to pay for everything. She didn’t complain once. Now, she’s restarting a career that was hit by Covid and I’m in a position to earning quite a bit now. I do not bat one eyelid because it’s now my turn to return the effort she showed those years ago. Not saying it’s easy to be the sole breadwinner at all - it’s exhausting at times. But I know she doesn’t take it for granted as she’s been there too and (she tells me) I never took it for granted, so I’m relieved about that. We all need to bring things to the table. No, one party is not “the table”, th😂 table is the relationship. People who say “I am the table” are both idiots and dangerously narcissistic.
