    I bought a 2015 Aygo new and still own it as it's a hoot to drive. The little 3 cylinder loves to be revved hard. You should be getting 30 mph in first and 50 mph in second. Motorway speeds are fun the nearer you are to an indicated 80 mph which is just over 70 mph in reality. The Aygo is the most fun you can have for the money and sound proofing can be gained by liberal use of the radio volume knob.

    Had the 2020 Aygo x-clusiv with MMT (Multi-Mode Transmission), i.e. automated manual. It was so smooth once you learned when the computer decides to shift. Also had enough power to be fun - in and outside of cities. And with the x-clusiv package, it was pure luxury. However, moved to a country with the steering wheel on the other side and had to sell it. Once we're settled in properly, our next car will also be an Aygo. The newer models since 2022/2023 are based on the former Yaris chassis - so they now have a proper CVT and lots of other niceties, e.g. wireless charging mat for the phone, wireless CarPlay, etc.

    I bought an Aygo MK2 Facelift (Built in 2019) a few months back. It is an automatic and I love it. Granted, It's my first car, so I don't have a lot of experience, but compared to my moms 2021 Suzuki Ignis with CVT Automatic the Aygo feels so much more direct. I would like to say that it feels kinda sporty driving it (if.. you can call anything sporty with just 72 HP). Also.. on the automatic the gas mileage is like.. 0.2ish L/100km more than the manual, so pretty insignificant in my opinion. I also wanna Say: Thanks so much for your content. When I was looking at different cars, I had no clue what to go for and what to buy. Then I found your Aygo videos and.. lets say you're the reason that I am a damn proud Aygo driver now. Thanks!

    @@jamieaygo I've owned the Aygo since April 2023 and I bought it with 74000km on the clock. Right now it's at 89000km lol. After 15000km I can say that it is absolutely amazing. I've installed a few mods (absolutely minor things) and (Except for sound proofing the doors, but thats on my todo list for this year) there is literally not a single thing that I could criticize. I can drive it with 160km/h (which is MORE than enough imo) on the Autobahn and it just runs so damn reliably. Here is an Overview of the mods I installed so far, in case it is of interest to you or someone else: - Armrest - Wind deflectors - Audio system upgrade with a custom built 1000W RMS Subwoofer and easily accessible flip switches to disable parts of the audio system, should it be necessary. - Battery Voltmeter with a 7-Segment display - Speed Chime that triggers at 90km/h (I bought the original speed chime of the Toyota AE86, built a custom Circuit board with an Arduino and a GPS module to get the speed without screwing around with any onboard electronics, just so I can get the real Initial D vibes) - 藤原とうふ店 Sticker for the Side of the car (lol)

    people who are looking to buy the Aygo should also take a look at the Peugeot 108 and Citroën C1 since they are all basically the same cars. The 1.0L variant of all three cars have the same Daihatsu engine, they are pretty much identical on the interior, they just have slightly different exterior designs.

    The power du to the clutch and 3 cylinders is dissapoiting when you are on a long disntance trip, but its better than nothing when compared to its price. when I bought mine it had only 40 000km on the clock in the year 2020, and now it has 169 000km in the year of 2024 it takes a minimum of 12km daily on week days. I drive it frequently and sometimes for long trips taking a minimum of 600km from one state to another. It is reliable aslong as you service it and change parts when required. Parts replaced up to so far: 1. all tires 2.All shock absorbers 3.front brake disc 4. hand brake cables both rear wheels 5. clutch and flywheel 6. windscreen wiper motor 7. all 3 engine mountings 8. both front lower control arms Other than that, the vehicle is great, if you use it frequently expect more parts to be replaced in a short spen of time. I have nothing to complain about since it is my first car, and understanding the power of the car will help you to know what gear to choose when you wanna put it to performance mode. it can do evrything when you understand it better. For long trips you need to avoid load, or carrying adults at the back amd front, you can have 2 adults in the front and one a the back or 2 kids at the back, then it will be smooth on longer trip, but better when you are alone on performance.

    They're extremely upgradeable, the stereo with carplay can be retrofitted with relative ease, same with a reverse camera, the alloy wheels, facelift lights and even the facelift front bumper. So I think you should just pick whichever look you like the most. And I've heard the auto gearbox isn't as reliable and can be quite costly to fix if it goes wrong as there's some software needed that essentially only the main dealer has. Something to bear in mind!

    That facelift bumper is a really intriguing prospect for me, you know. I need to have a little hunt on the Toyota forums to see if anyone has done it. I think I'll definitely do the rear lights and maybe the stereo, too. As you say and as my experience dictates, the Aygo MK2 is super upgradable! Thanks for the notes on the auto box. Seems like i dodged a bullet!

    I thought about it myself as I came across one that was in need of a new bumper and a facelift bumper was actually cheaper than the prefacelift but I saw someone on the forums losing all headlight functionality when attempting it so I shelved the idea for the time being. The facelift stereo is definitely the best upgrade for these, carplay really modernises the car. @@jamieaygo

    I'll look into the stereo, thanks. That bumper upgrade is really tempting but my first thought was that the lights actually look either bigger or differently shaped. Maybe it's just an illusion. I don't want to leave myself without headlights, ha!

    I have had a 2012 automatic aygo for 2 years now and so far its been reliable. It takes a bit of getting used to since its a robotically controlled manual, I must admit I hated it at first but it does the job, On steep hills it changes down for you (eventually) and sometimes you have to manually change up again because it stays on a low gear for too long. I've found easing off the accelerator makes it change quicker rather than planting your foot on it, you can even put it in manual mode and use the paddle shifters which is quite fun on a twisty country road - makes you feel like a racing driver without going over the speed limit!

    Great video as always, don't think I would get a mk2 but let me know what the seats are like in the mk2 because you can actually put them in the mk1 and its a straight swap which might be more comfotable on longer journeys than the ironing boards that are in my car!

    Thanks for the comment, JP! I suspect the seats in the MK2 aren't much better. I get lower back pain on longer journeys and ended up buying a seat support, which I detailed in my last accessories video. I am wondering if I can take some comfier seats from another car, perhaps...😂

    The "automatic" is an automated manual, so it's the same gearbox, and likely the same clutch, so any issues with the manual, would likely also appear on the auto.

  • @jamieaygo

    @jamieaygo

    2 ай бұрын

    I've had this idea also! When I looked into it, I think the issue is the lights, but I'm sure you'd be able to fuse the bumper on with welds, etc. A bit out of my comfort zone at the moment, though. I know Mad4Motors (search on youtube) did this with a Toyota pick up, so that video might give you some clues on how to do it. I'd ask in the Toyota Aygo forums as it has been talked about in there, but not sure if anyone has come up with a solution.
