I didn’t buy the 10inch based on this channels review but it helped me make the decision. Unfortunately 10 months out of the box with only minimal usage the locking mechanism for the fence broke making it impossible to move the fence. There is only one local dealer that does warranty work on DeWalt in the Seattle area and they told me that it would be several weeks before I might (might?) get it back. NOT as good of a saw as I had expected and definitely they are getting a ZERO on customer service.

If the fence isn't square to the blade your cuts are off. More critically, though, you can pinch your work and get kickback injuring you and/or damaging your shop.

I'm a amateur woodworker. Got the DeWalt 10in. Thought in the beginning that I was overdoing it but after improving my skills I'm glad I got it. Not having a bandsaw and a jointer, the 10in blade has helped to compensate with that.

I have that dewalt with the 8 1/4 blade. But it was what was in my budget at the time. And I have been making it work for 2 years now. And love it as I never have had issues with the fence getting out of wack.

For up and coming wood workers that are just starting out. I highly recommend getting the Newest Craftsmen table saw ( there is two different types a 10" and a smaller job site saw that I haven't used)....The fence is honestly really good. No, it doesn't have a rack and pinion fence unfortunately but I found it to be surprisingly good!!! I have used it to make precise cuts ( I've made custom thresholds, custom door framing, custom window framing for interior finished grade work).... I wish I could post pictures on her for all to see. You can always upgrade to the DeWalt table saw, or Skil Saw table saws... Also, believe it or not, I've used the "Dun Dun Dun"....the Blasphemous Harbor freight Hercules job site table saw as well!!! It was just as good as the DeWalt table saw!!!!!!!

Table saws have come a long way (as have most tools) my Skil was around $250, and while much louder than the cabinet maker SawStop at work, it still gets the job done.

Most people won't need a 10" blade. There's a sub-community that finds great value in using a smaller blade with their TS (you will need to adjust your riving knife or splitter to adjust for the smaller blade). In addition to getting better cuts, they also don't have to deal with buying more expensive blades and sending it in for sharpening.

Also in some countries the 10" saw is vastly more expensive. It was about double the cost of the 8 1/4 dewalt here.

Does nobody notice that he uses his tablesaw in a way that one really shouldn’t do? Look at how his pieces of wood are placed on the table. The small part being in between the blad and the guide rail. That’s asking for kickbacks pushing directly into the blade. Not to mention the worn out cut you get. Etc etc

I run a grizzly cabinet saw in my shop and about 2 months ago I had a catastrophic failure with the blade height adjust. It was messed up pretty bad and I was buried in work. I need a replacement, quick. So I ran down to Lowe’s and picked up the Delta 10 inch table saw. Man I was shocked how good that saw was for $700. It’s still the main saw for my shop for the time being. Once I’m not so busy I’m gonna get a Harvey and build a new out feed table for it and have the delta as a backup/dato saw. The grizzly is being used as a table currently.

I've been using table saws forover 50 years. The cheap contractor saws with lightweight cheap fences scare me to the point I won't use one anymore. If money is the issue, get a better quality used saw.

I have the Milwaukee 8 1/4 and I have mixed emotions. The battery doesn’t last long so if I have a lot of work I have to wait for the charge and it doesn’t go 45 easily I have to push it and force it to 45 then lock it down. Also, when it’s at 45 it isn’t parallel to the fence. It’s parallel at 90 but not 45

I generally like battery tools, but I can’t see the reason for it if you have an electric supply. From what I’ve seen on videos battery saws can’t match the power of a plug in job site saw (and are more expensive to boot).

That Dewalt 8-1/4 “ saw also won’t accept a dado stack. The 10” Dewalt does. That was the deciding factor for me. Just bought it two weeks ago. Table was flat out of the box, the blade was at 90 degrees to the table - just had to adjust the indicator. The fence moves back and forth beautifully, but it’s not exactly 90 degrees to the table. It’s 89.6 per my digital angle finder and that can’t be adjusted. Since I work mainly with 3/4” stock I don’t think that’s a big issue since the angle down low to the table is fine.

You can adjust the fence with shims... thats what they at dewalt say. However, the thing you can't adjust is the flatness of the table surface, and I'm yet to find a table saw with these stamped tops that is Flat. The Craftsman, and the Dewalt (both 8-¼", and 10") are identical surfaces, and neither are as flat as they should be for safe use.

The small contractor saws all work great and dont have the cast iron top that rust so thats good. Plus light weight. Bosch is my favorite one, which my dad has. I have a grizzly 5hp now for my shop which is the best saw i have ever had but it is just for the shop. I want to try out the rigid portable saw next to give that a spin. Currently have the 10" dewalt with an 8 1/4 blade. Had it for 10 years and is the only one still working that i bought in the past.

*Pro tip:* use the smallest diameter blade to make cuts. Why? It's all about torque, with a given H.P. an 8" blade will deliver more than a 10" will. Bonus- lessens the chance of kickback also thanks to reduced contact area.

Pro tip. 10in saws tend to have bigger motors or else all that would really be changing is the space to accomodaye the blade and that'd be hard to justify a large price difference on...
