    I think a huge tradeoff here is you get native Leica glass. You trade off some things that Sony cameras enjoy for native Leica glass integrated with the system, which having used Leica glass is objectively an amazing plus.

    @@Markchristiankc personally have used the 50 ASPH for hybrid work. Have been lent the 75 ASPH. I currently rent out the body for use since it’s too expensive to justify using it all the time, but I’m waiting to see what Sigma does with the L mount before I buy in. If Sigma drops a contemporary foveon sensor camera for the L mount it’ll likely be a day one purchase for me. Leica glass really is as good as they say. I also adapt a Leica R lens to Nikon F mount for my Nikon FM2n and it’s superb. At the end of the day it’s a body, I still value glass infinitely over it. Manufacturers are doing very little that the others aren’t catching up to in a few months anyways.

    This is not pointing directly at you Brother… It’s just always hard for me to understand when people say there are not enough L Mount Lens 😂 Versus Sony with Duplicates in different price points somehow equaling to more. I assure everyone you will NOT buy every Sony Lens, some are clinically unusable for some cinematic desires without diffusion… hence we are right back to where we started looking to add more money to soften the image. But complaining 1.4 vs 1.8 or 2.8 vs 4.0 or 1.2 for people who will mostly be out of focus when most times we shouldn’t not be shooting all wide open like an amateur 😅 but, hey I get it. For me there’s probably the same take as LUMIX that there are options for each individual need, no one needs EVERY lens. There’s not one lens that I desire that is stopping me from making money with my cameras.

    It’s a sub 2k camera you expect to get 120fps come one dude. If that what you need then look elsewhere, who are you to tell people what to buy and not to buy.

    Good points! Though I think the #1 issue with the S5IIx is one that not enough folks talk about, and it’s the lack of an optical low pass filter, which means this camera produces more moire and aliasing even in 6K than a camera like the S1H which does have that filter. Since Panasonic is marketing this camera to video shooters, the lack of this filter to me is a big fail. I hope it’s kept on the S1H Mark II, whenever that camera arrives.

    That’s something I didn’t know! Wow! Thankfully that’s not affected my images as far as I’m aware but I do use IR ND filters so that’s why. I know this was something the Pocket 4K lacked as well for instance but I never experienced a problem because I use IR ND filters. It’s definitely interesting they missed out on having it though!

  • @kailashnaik

    @kailashnaik

    Good point, moire can be a setback and it’s almost impossible to fix in post. But I wonder if there’s another solution than using low pass filter. Does LPF degrade the quality of footage in any manner at all? I remember, back in the days Nikon removed the low pass filters from their newer DSLRs and advertised that as a feature (they had a workaround technology for bypassing moire).

  • @MagnumoftheMountains

    @MagnumoftheMountains

    6 ай бұрын

    @@kailashnaik Basically an optical low pass filter does de-sharpen an image slightly in an attempt to reduce moire. The S1H has that filter, as did cameras like a 5D Mark IV. They're becoming less common on hybrid cameras. Cameras with an optical low pass filter can still experience moire, but at a far lesser rate than those without. I own the S5IIx, and in stress testing, can make moire appear on the camera, but thus far, knock on wood in professional shoots haven't seen it crop its ugly head up yet.

    I did struggle to make points for this video but this was something I’d felt still applied. I’m comparing directly to Sony as Sony has so many versions of so many lenses and then almost every third party manufacturer has an E mount version of their lens. For sure L mount is definitely expanding so it’s not lagging behind too much. Just something I felt when I first got my S5II 😊

    1. Yeah the crop is neither positive nor negative so no point there. 2. Get pro audio if you are a pro shooter. Cold shoe for audio is pretty amateur. 3. Learn to use your camera and place your fingers correctly ffs. That has never happened to me I don't even need to lock functions. 4. Close the freaking doors BRO. Again I've never had a problem with that. 5. Tons of lenses. From Panasonic, Leica, Sigma to cinematic SIRUI and more. You don't need 5 different 50mm lenses. You just need whatever you need to shot and there plenty for the L mount. I'm sick of KZreadrs creating content with misinformation and believe they are somehow cinema gurus telling people what to do. PEOPLE do your research and buy whatever you need. Don't rely on KZreadrs. Cheers.
